Video: Tyra Banks Chats About Cycle 11 Contestants

With the Cycle 11 premiere creeping ever so closer (2 hour-premiere on September 3!), I get excited whenever I find new information about the contestants. In the video below, Tyra Banks talks about the fourteen girls in the running to become America’s Next Top Model.
According to Tyra, Sheena is Asian who “is a black girl too”, Joslyn has a huge drive and hunger for the competition, Clark might be too pretty for Top Model, Hannah is an active talker, Lauren Brie is a ghost, ShaRaun is Diana Ross, Brittany is from Vegas, the Jays love McKey, Elina is intense, Analeigh is really naive, Tyra’s already planning to chop Samantha’s air off, Nikeysha is insane, Marjorie is super nervous, and Isis was homeless.
What do you think of Tyra’s assessment of each girl?
i wonder why tyra feels it necessary to make fun of every girl on top model…it comes off as bratty and insensitive. she did it a lot last season too, and sometimes its like making fun of people’s ethinic accents, like she did with anya, natasha, and in this clip the french and asian girls.
Tyra is becoming more and more ridiculous each season. After watching the clip, I don’t think Tyra even think for a second about the modeling aspect of these girls. Not that I expect much about that… But her comments just seem to be taken straight out of the writers script for characterization of each girls.
Marjorie = Agyness Deyn wannabe. But of course, Agyness > Marjorie. Please give her a makeover so I don’t have to think of Agyness everytime I see her on my screen.
Sheena = Is the show running out of modelesque Asian girls? I am Asian and I think she looks like a plain gravure girl.
Isis = I expect her story to be repeated every episode until she gets eliminated.
ShaRaun = I think she’ll be the bitch this season.
My wife got me into watching the show and as a part-time photographer, I get pretty into it. My only complaint that i see in every season is that at one point in the show Tyra and the judges will say that they want a certain quality out of girl and she’ll produce that quality and then they’ll come back and critique her for it! It sucks! Also, sometimes they give some girls way too many chances and then kick a girl out after she makes her first disappointment. I know it’s hard to be fair, but at least be consistent.
p.s. Isis is HOT!
reluctantFan, well… they keep girls that aren’t good at modeling for the drama and it makes good TV. That is why those girls is spared from elimination for so many times, but a girl who is actually good at modeling but has “boring” personality is eliminated by one mistake.
If my memory serves me right, Janice said something about that the judges of ANTM is not the people who choose the winner of the competition or something like that… There are also some rumors that they chose a bad picture for a girl that they plan will be eliminated.
Did anybody else notice???? On last week’s runway challange McKey’s dress was a direct rip off of a a Bob Mackie design? Tyra made it a real big point to describe the outfits worn by the contestants as “advant garde” (sic), “one of a kind”, “original”, etc………… – the designer of the runway fashions sat on the voting panel – that particular dress was anyhting but original – when Bob Mackie designed costumes for The Carol Burnette Show a few decades ago – he designed this dress for a scetch that spoofed the movie “Gone with the Wind” – the dress itself was comic genius – meant to poke fun at the dress Scarlet O’hara wore at one point in the movie that was made out of draperies – the funniest thing being the drapery dowel/rod running through both arm holes at the shoulder line…………I’m all for fashion coming and going in and out of stye – but don’t try to pass something off as “original” when it is not – and the original form of this dress was meant as a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
