Tyra Banks Honored at GLAAD Media Awards

March 29, 2009 by Erin Balser

The first round of the GLAAD Media Awards were celebrated last night at the Marriott Marquis Hotel’s Grand Ballroom in New York. The GLAAD Media Awards honor those in the media that portray fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community.

Tyra was awarded a special Excellence in Media Award for her continuous support of and representations of gay, lesbian and transgendered people n both America’s Next Top Model and her talk show The Tyra Banks Show. The award was presented by her close friend and soon-to-be Top Model guest judge, Clay Aiken.

Tyra wore a classy, understated pant suit to the event. I think it’s one of her best red carpet looks yet, she looks amazing!

Suze Orman was the other major honoree of the night. She was presented with the Vito Russo Award, which annually honors an openly LGBT person in the media who have actively advocated for LGBT issues.
