Tyra Banks Endorses Barack Obama

Tyra Banks publicly declared her support for presidential candidate Barack Obama today.
“Throughout the campaign I have been inspired by Senator Barack Obama and his message of change, and I believe he will uplift Americans during these critical times,”Tyra said in an official statement. “I will be voting for Obama because I feel America is not only ready for this change, we are in need of it.”
The election is only a few days away! I’m Canadian and I’m still super-excited to watch the outcome.
On a different note, how do you feel about celebrities being public with their political affiliations? Does Tyra’s endorsement bring integrity to the Obama campaign or does her celebrity take away from the issues at hand?

Celebrity endorsements have a history of lending credibility to anything, be it a political candidate, a product, a restaurant, etc. This effect is heightened when the celebrity partners with that particular “thing” to put more of their own input into it’s creation, marketing and development. A good example of that is the new Criss Angel show in Vegas with Cirque Du Solei called “Believe”. An associate of mine over at Cirque saw the show and had nothing but positive things to say about it. I checked out some of the behind the scenes footage on youtube and it’s nothing less than stunning! (youtube.com/cirquelasvegas). It is definitely unlike any other show out in Vegas. Maybe they can do ANTM in vegas too?

I haven’t refused Tyra’s right to an opinion. But publicly announcing her endorsement in grand fashion as if her opinion will sway voters and have an impact? Please. Tyra should not get over her head. Her fanbase ends with the unchecked teenagers who watch ANTM and her dumb talk show. Tyra needs to keep her ego in check. Thus, I will say it again, Tyra you are now Oprah. Shut the F****** up and stick to sobby stories about your weight gain on your dumb talk show.
