Tyra Banks and Jay Manuel Conflicts
According to MSNBC, the future of America’s Next Top Model may be in jeopardy. Tyra has been having a lot of personality conflicts on the show and the latest with creative director Jay Manuel has gotten pretty bad, they claim.
“It’s gotten so bad that Tyra and Jay aren’t speaking,” an insider told OK! magazine.
Tyra’s also become increasingly less involved with the show’s creative side. “Tyra barely interacts with the contestants and only wants to show up on judging day,” the source says.
Because of all this, rumors are flying that Tyra is looking for a new host for ANTM.
“She’s putting lots of pressure on her staff to keep her show on the map. She had Barack Obama on, she had Hilary Clinton on — she got a taste of playing with the big boys,” a source on The Tyra Banks Show claims “Top Model seems to detract from her big plans.”
While all this is just rumors, if someone new were to host ANTM, who would you want to see get the gig?

Personally, and I may be in the minority, would rather somebody other than Tyra would host the show. For the past 7-8 cycles, she hasn’t seemed too terribly invested in the girls or the photoshoots. She only shows up at the end of the episode in most episodes. She’s become a caricature of herself on ANTM, perhaps because she doesn’t want to do it. I would love to see someone like Claudia Schiffer, Elle Macpherson, Cindy Crawford, Beverly Johnson, etc. Basically an identifiable supermodel the girls can get excited about and would want to emulate. The show would have to take an overhaul, of course, but it might be needed.

I’ve been a fan of trya for years but she really doesn’t seem to give a shit about the contestants in the show anymore. If she doesnt want to do it anymore she should just leave.

All I know is I hope this rumor isn’t true because Tyra and Jay have been friends too long not to know how to work out their differences.
It’s not like we see every single moment that is recorded in the 6 weeks of production. I wouldn’t say that she isn’t invested, I just think they’re all over the whole hand holding thing. It’s cycle 10 (going on 11) for goodness sakes. How many of us looked at the tv in complete disbelief when Amis decided to go to judging looking a hot mess. At this point some stuff is just basic. She (and the other judges) shouldn’t have to do the same things that were necessary in cycle 1. I think it’s unfair to say that she shows up at the end and that’s all. She does a photoshoot w/ them. She does teaches with them. She does one-on-ones with them. She shows up on makeover day.
Now to answer the question, I can’t see the show being the same w/o Tyra. The chemistry b/w her and Nigel and Miss J in the judging room is something that can’t be manufactured. It’s like when Free and AJ left 106 and Park…just not right!

wow i can’t believe people would stoop so low just to bring great people like Tyra Banks down. Maybe she has become less involved because she’s busier. And to the people who think that someone else other then Tyra should host the show, i forgive you. I can’t imagine the show without her. Tyra is the show! And i seriously doubt that she is having major conflicts with Jay. They have been friends for so long that someone mistook a little fight or something for a huge blow up! Tyra is just a regular person and I hate to see the media try to bring her down. Try is one of my heros so stop this stupid nonsense.

There is no way that this is true. ANTM is set up for 13 cycles. Tyra is invested in the girls but she can’t be there to hold their hands throughout the competition. Everytime someone is elimated she talks with them and tells them advice on how to comtinue. Why would she do talk with them if she wasn’t invested. She loves modeling and she also loves her talk show. I think she is doing a good job of balancing them both. I don’t think it would be the same if she wasn’t the ideal host.

She wouldn’t be on the show if she didn’t like it.
She may seem distracted because she has another show, photo shoots, awards shows, and other appearances and jobs to think about.
If anyone else were to host the show, I can tell you that the TV audience would go way down.

Tyra Banks made a reply to the rumor that someone might host ANTm, she told her audience that her show is her baby and she would not let someone else take over her show. Tyra is a self assured woman who knows what she wants and she is not stoping until she acheives her desired success!
