TMSS Round One: Elyse (1-3) v. Diane (5-9)
Today’s second match-up features one of the most successful contestants on America’s Next Top Model ever and a plus-sized model who we never saw reach their true potential.

Elyse Sewell, a 5′10″ 20-year-old pre-med student from New Mexico, was one of the most intriguing contestants in the first season of Top Model. Not only were her confessionals insane, her photographs were stunning and her internal struggle of brains versus beauty resulted in a lot of tension between the contestants. In the end, Elyse was eliminated after she made the top three because the judges felt that her heart wasn’t really in modeling and she wasn’t taking their criticisms seriously. That being said, Elyse is currently enjoying a very successful career in Hong Kong right now, which she chronicles on her Live Journal.

Diane was a vivacious and confident plus-sized model in Cycle 5. At the time of her audition, she was a 23 year-old law enforcement professional from Florida. I thought she was gorgeous, but she never got in the groove during the competition. She was eliminated in the fifth episode because the judges felt that she didn’t have enough confidence. I couldn’t find any where is she now info on her, so I’m assuming she’s still working in the corrections field, kicking ass and taking names.

I have been reading Elyse’s blog for years, and she is my all-time favorite ANTM contestant. I also believe that she is one of the most successful post-show models.
Anyhow, that’s my two cents. ;-)

Elyse for me. I never found Diane to be attractive. She looks too mannish for me. Elyse is a model through and through. Plus I love it that she’s an atheist that is not afraid to voice her opinion. You go girl!
