Tyra Banks has decided to join the rest of us in the blogosphere and launched her own blog. Titled “Tyra Talks” the blog will explore different interests of Tyra and show us different events she attends. It launched April 30th and so far she’s covered the CW UpFronts, her favorite new song, and the White House Correspondents dinner.

Tyra is trying very hard to inject the same personality she presents on her talk show into these posts. I personally find the writing style a bit annoying, but Tyra’s new to this so I’ll cut her some slack. And I have to give her kudos trying this out.

Three episodes of The Tyra Banks Show and the series America’s Next Top Model are nominated for GLAAD Media Awards. The GLAAD Media Awards celebrate and recognize fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered community, as well as the issues that affect their lives, their families and their communities.

This year is the 20th annual GLAAD Media Awards. The ceremonies will be helf New York on March 28, 2009 at the Marriott Marquis; in Los Angeles on April 18 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE; and in San Francisco on May 9 at the Hilton San Francisco.

Tyra Banks will be receiving a special award in addition to her nominations. At the New York awards show, Tyra will receive the Excellence in Media Award for her impact on the media and her tireless work at exploring the lives and people in the GLAAD community.

Tyra, along with Suze Orman, who is also being honored, have “used their positions of power within the media to become strong advocates on behalf of the LGBT community,” GLAAD president Neil G. Giuliano said. “They are changing hearts and minds, opening people’s eyes to our common humanity, and it is our privilege to honor them.”

As for her nominations, Tyra has three episodes of her talk show up for “Outstanding Talk Show Episode.” The episodes honored are “Don’t Ruin My Gay Wedding,” “Gays in the Ghetto,” and “Transgender Triumphs.” Tyra will be competing against Ellen DeGeneres’ episode titled “Ellen & Portia’s Wedding Day” and Oprah’s episode “The Pregnant Man.”

America’s Next Top Model is in the running for “Outstanding Reality Program.” Also nominated are I Want to Work for Diddy, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List, Shirts & Skins, and TransAmerican Love Story.

Today is Tyra Banks’s 35th birthday. I wish her a happy birthday and cheers to a happy, healthy and successful year!

I wonder how Tyra will celebrate the big day. Will she have a big party or a small gathering for family and friends? Maybe she;ll just have a romantic dinner for two with her boyfriend. How do you think Tyra should celebrate her birthday?

Forbes released a list of 10 Hollywood moguls in the making, that is, ten stars who they think are going to dominate Hollywood for years to come.

Tyra Banks came in on the list at #5. They cited her many television projects and modeling gigs, such as her appearance in Harper’s Bazaar as Michelle Obama as proof of Tyra’s versatility and longevity.

Beating Tyra on the list were Curtis Jackson, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, and Kanye West. Rounding out the rest of the list were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Avril Lavigne, Pete Wentz and Jessica Simpson.

The list was chosen based on how strong the celebrities’ brand is, how many streams of income they have and their potential for growth. I think Tyra is already a mogul–why isn’t she at the top of this list yet?

This Wednesday marked the premiere of Modelville on The Tyra Banks Show.

Cycle 10’sFatima Siad, Lauren Utter and Dominique Reighard, Cycle 8’s Renee Alway, and Cycle 9’s Bianca Golden are competing for a $50,000 modeling contract. Tyra claims these girls were chosen specially because they “touched her in a very special way.”

Each model has to keep a blog while they are in the Modelville house. You can read each of their blogs here: Bianca, Fatima, Lauren, Dominique, and Renee.

In this video, Tyra introduces each contestant and the show itself. Lauren looks really polished. Bianca talks about her airport fight. It sounds pretty bad, but Nikki has come out publicly saying Bianca is lying.

Tyra Banks made an appearance at Miley Cyrus’s sixteenth birthday party at Disneyland over the weekend. The celebration was huge with stars like David Archuleta, Demi Lovato, Cody Linley, Emiley Osment, and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Miley’s birthday isn’t until November. I wonder what she’ll do on her real birthday!

I think it’s a bit odd that Tyra was invited to a sweet sixteen party. Also odd was Tyra’s gift to Miley–a picture of Tyra as a sixteen year old! Thanks to Matthew, below is a video with Tyra talking about her gift.

Tyra Banks is expanded the Top Model franchise to include her own daytime talk show The Tyra Banks Show. Modelville, a show-within-a-show will premiere on the October 8 episode.

Modelville will follow former America’s Next Top Model contestants Fatima Siad, Renee Alway, Lauren Utter, Bianca Golden and Dominique Reighard as they continue to pursue their modeling dreams.

Al the girls will live in a house together and complete a series of challenges. The winner will receive a $50,000 modeling contract.

While I think this is going to be fun to watch, do the contestants really think that participating in another Tyra-creating modeling competition is what it will take to make their modeling dreams come true?

This video is a very small part of the America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10 reunion that was held on The Tyra Banks Show on Wednesday. It focuses on winner Whitney Thompson and what she has been up to since the show ended.

The video quickly glosses over every non-Whitney aspect. I really wish I could have seen the whole thing, but this is better than nothing!

Whitney talks about how awesome it is to be a role model and to help people improve their body image. She also talks about her new dog and how she went about adopting him.

The little girl Tyra is holding is Claire’s daughter. So cute!

Tyra Banks has paired up with another talk show phenom, Rachael Ray, to put together a food drive. Both stars have asked their audiences to bring food donations when they come to the show. These donations will be given to City Harvest, a food bank that feeds over 250,000 New Yorkers every week.

“New Yorkers are incredibly resilient and understand the importance of pooling their resources in order to do good for others,” Tyra said in a joint press release. “There are so many people who unfortunately can’t always put food on the table for themselves or their loved ones. It’s my hope that our efforts will bring about the necessary attention the ongoing issue of hunger in New York City deserves. By teaming up with Rachael’s show, we have committed to making sure that this issue is getting the support that it needs. The need for emergency food is such a sad reality but collectively we can all help in a big way.”

The drive, which is called “If You Can…We Can” wants to collect over 20,000 cans of food in time for Thanksgiving.

I think this is a fantastic initiative. Ways to improve it? Collect non-perishable food items all year round and get every show with a live audience involved. I think getting to watch The Tyra Banks Show, Oprah, Rachael Ray, or even The Maury Povich Show is worth the price of canned peas.

Bianca Golden, who appeared on the ninth cycle of America’s Next Top Model, opened up to Tyra Banks about the brawl her family had with Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky’s family.

Bianca will appear on the October 8 episode of The Tyra Banks Show. She claims the fight started when Nikki was rude to Bianca’s aunt. Things got physical between the families when Nikki’s dad attacked Bianca’s mom, Bianca claims.

“He knocked her out. He hit my mom with such force she stumbled back and when she stumbled back the whole family got up and attacked my mom,” Bianca told Tyra, People reports. After the initial blow Nikki “takes her foot and kicks my mom in her vagina, and that’s when my mom fell out completely.”

Bianca says her mom still has bruises from the fight, over two months later.

This is crazy stuff. However, Nikki’s rep refused to comment on Bianca’s appearance, so we are only hearing one side of the story.
