Tyra Banks & Teyona Anderson at the CW Upfronts
May 21, 2009 by Erin Balser
The CW UpFronts took place earlier today in New York City. The UpFronts are when networks announce their upcoming fall line-up. America’s Next Top Model will return to Wednesdays at 8pm and is being paired with the new drama A Beautiful Life. A Beautiful Life should be a great match for ANTM, as it’s a fictional show about models living in New York City. It stars The OC alum Mischa Barton, supermodel Elle MacPherson and Sara Paxton. If you recall, it’s the show Analeigh Tipton from Cycle 11 was nearly signed for.
I must say, I love Tyra’s new hair color. It’s one of the best looks she’s had in a long time. And Teyona looks really cute.
Are you going to tune in for Cycle 13 of America’s Next Top Model? And are you excited to see A Beautiful Life?
Tyra Banks & Paulina Porizkova at the Costume Institute Gala
May 5, 2009 by Erin Balser
America’s Next Top Model judges Tyra Banks and Paulina Porizkova attended the Costume Institute Gala event last night in New York City. The event celebrated the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s newest exhibit, “The Model as Muse” which looks at the role of models throughout the history of fashion. The exhibit looks stunning, nearly as stunning as the stars who walked the red carpet last night.
Nearly every model of importance from both past and present stepped out last night. Tyra took a risk with a daring hairpiece, do you think it paid off?
Paulina opted for a more casual look in a floaty orange dress. I’m not loving it, but Paulina is working the hell out of it. What do you think?

FabSugar put together a great slideshow showcasing all the models who attended last night. It’s beautiful and you can check it out here.
Tyra Banks Honored at GLAAD Media Awards
March 29, 2009 by Erin Balser
The first round of the GLAAD Media Awards were celebrated last night at the Marriott Marquis Hotel’s Grand Ballroom in New York. The GLAAD Media Awards honor those in the media that portray fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community.
Tyra was awarded a special Excellence in Media Award for her continuous support of and representations of gay, lesbian and transgendered people n both America’s Next Top Model and her talk show The Tyra Banks Show. The award was presented by her close friend and soon-to-be Top Model guest judge, Clay Aiken.
Tyra wore a classy, understated pant suit to the event. I think it’s one of her best red carpet looks yet, she looks amazing!
Suze Orman was the other major honoree of the night. She was presented with the Vito Russo Award, which annually honors an openly LGBT person in the media who have actively advocated for LGBT issues.
Tyra Banks Goes Incognito
February 9, 2009 by Erin Balser
Tyra Banks was spotted at the LAX airport this weekend and did her best to hide from photographers. She was searched in a private room and was allowed to go through security with her high collared coat, hat, and sunglasses on in an effort not to be noticed. Unfortunately for Tyra, she’s a pretty distinctive person and the paparazzi noticed her anyway.
Tyra is definitely off to New York, where she tapes her talk show. I understand her desire to not be bothered by fans and paparazzi (you can’t be in the mood to deal with that every day), but being so blatant at trying to hide you face only further draws attention to herself!
This week on her show, she’ll have Janet Jackson on Tuesday, discuss whether “he’s just not that into you” on Wednesday, find the latest beauty secrets across America on Thursday and set women up on the date of their dreams on Friday.
Tyra Banks to Relive Barack Obama’s Inauguration
January 28, 2009 by Erin Balser
Tyra Banks was one of the nearly one million people who were in Washington, DC on January 20, 2009, to watch the inauguration of the first African American president, Barack Obama. During the ceremony, Tyra sat quietly in the general media area, flanked by two bodyguards, as she listened to Obama’s inspiring speech and the inaugural poem by Elizabeth Alexander.
That night, Tyra got dolled up and attended the Western Inaugural Ball, one of 10 balls held throughout the city that night. Tyra wore a custom-designed Nicole Miller gown with shoed by Giuseppe Zanotti and jewelry by Kara Ross for this special occasion. The Western Inaugural Ball, which was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, was a happening party, with performances by husband and wife superstars Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.
Tyra is planning to share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with the viewers of her daytime talk show. On January 29 (that’s tomorrow!), Tyra is going to talk about what it was like to experience history in the making.
Even though I’m Canadian, January 20 felt like a very special and important day. It’s going to be interesting to see what Tyra says about it, so be sure to tune in!
Tyra Banks out with John Utendahl
November 28, 2008 by Erin Balser
Tyra Banks has been dating businessman John Utendahl for quite a while now, but has yet to admit it to the public. However, they’ve been seen out together quite a bit, including last night at the BLT Market in Midtown Manhattan.
The two look quite smitten with each other, walking close together and holding hands. Tyra’s given several interviews in the past about how hard it is for her to find a boyfriend and to keep a healthy, stable, long-term relationship, so I’m glad to see this one is working out.
I think Tyra looks great here, but do you really need a bag that large when you’re on a date?
Tyra Banks with Robert Pattinson
November 25, 2008 by Erin Balser
The stars of Twilight stopped by The Tyra Banks Show last week to talk about their new film and sudden fame. Tyra spent the episode talking in a British accent and even got Robert, who plays Edward the vampire, to bite her neck.
The episode airs November 28, but you can see the biting clip here.
Tyra and Robert also filmed a few scenes on the streets of New York. I’m not exactly sure what they are doing, but they seem to be having a lot of fun. I guess I’ll have to tune in on the 28 to find out.
I haven’t seen Twilight yet, but I want to! Have any of you seen it? What do you think?

Tyra Banks is a Fun, Fearless Phenom
September 15, 2008 by Erin Balser
Tyra Banks was honored at Cosmopolitan’s Fun Fearless Phenom Awards last night in New York City. This outfit is a big improvement over the few she wore last week. I like the more natural hair and make-up on her a lot.
I don’t know much about these awards, or who else was honored, but congrats to Tyra! She works reallt hard and deserves to celebrate now and again!
Tyra Banks Front Row Calvin Klein
September 14, 2008 by Erin Balser
Tyra Banks sat front row center with tennis star Serena Williams at the Spring 2009 Calvin Klein Fashion Show during New York Fashion Week. I love the make-up and hair, but the dress is poorly fit, don’t you think?
What do you think of Tyra’s fashion week look? Yay or nay?
Tyra Banks is a Stylish New Yorker
September 14, 2008 by Erin Balser
Tyra Banks hosted US Weekly’s party for the 25 Most Stylish New Yorkers at the Hudson Terrace in New York last night.
I’m really not a fan of this look. The two-toned hair and bohemian dress fall flat for me. What do you think?
The stylish list was an eclectic mix of NYC professionals. Stacy London, Stephen Colbert, Michael Bloomberg, Kimora Lee Simmons, Aerin Lauder and Shoshanna Lonstein all made the list. You can see the full list of 25 here.
