The Tyra Banks Show Nominated for an Emmy

May 16, 2009 by Erin Balser

The Daytime Emmy Awards nominees were announced this Thursday and Tyra Banks’s talk show, The Tyra Banks Show is again nominated for “Outstanding Talk Show (Informative).

Last year, The Tyra Banks Show took home this honor.

This year, Tyra is up against The Doctors and Dr. Phil. I think Tyra’s got a good shot at taking home the trophy for the second time in a row.

Dr. Phil doesn’t stand a chance, but the new show The Doctors has received both critical and commercial acclaim. Couple that with how popular health issues are today and you could be looking at a surprise winner.

You can see the rest of the categories and nominees here.

The Daytime Emmys will be broadcast on August 30th at 8pm on the CW.

Tahlia Brookins is Pregnant!

May 13, 2009 by Erin Balser

Today on The Tyra Banks Show, there was an America’s Next Top Model reunion. One contestant in particular had a pretty big secret to spill - she’s pregnant! The happy mom-to-be was none other than 18-year-old Tahlia Brookins.

“I was told multiple times over and over that I couldn’t get pregnant just from my scars holding me back, other physical things going on with my body,” Tahlia said. “I was always told I was never going to be able to conceive children.”

Tahlia is no longer with the father of her child, 18-year-old David Michaels Jr., but the twosome are determined to make their family work. They have support from both their families and feel that they are ready and excited to be parents.

You can watch Tahlia’s big reveal below!

I’m really torn about this. It’s wonderful Tahlia has learned she is able to have children despite all odds, but she’s so young! Why is she ready to take on such a responsibility? What do you think of Tahlia’s announcement?

Nigel Barker Visits The Tyra Banks Show March 3

February 27, 2009 by Erin Balser

Noted fashion photographer and America’s Next Top Model judge, Nigel Barker is stopping by The Tyra Banks Show on March 3rd. Nigel will be part of Tyra’s “Advice Squad” as he and Beth Stern, comedian Ant, author Jackie Guerra answer no-holds barred questions about love, life, ANTM and more.

Nigel will also chat about his charity work and passion projects, including his most recent project, “Haiti: Hunger and Hope.”

It looks like it’s going to be a great episode. An audience member asks how one one should wait before engaging in sexual relations while in a relationship, and both Tyra and Nigel said it’s best to wait. For Nigel, it’s all about the chase!

“Back in the day I used to be a bit of a player myself. And, it was when I met my wife and she wouldn’t literally have anything to do with me,” Nigel revealed. “It took me four months to get a kiss on the cheek from her but I went for it and I went for it and I went for it. Anyway, she’s my wife.”

You can watch the preview here. The episode will air Tuesday, March 3rd. You can check your local listings here.

Tyra Banks to Relive Barack Obama’s Inauguration

January 28, 2009 by Erin Balser

Tyra Banks was one of the nearly one million people who were in Washington, DC on January 20, 2009, to watch the inauguration of the first African American president, Barack Obama. During the ceremony, Tyra sat quietly in the general media area, flanked by two bodyguards, as she listened to Obama’s inspiring speech and the inaugural poem by Elizabeth Alexander.

That night, Tyra got dolled up and attended the Western Inaugural Ball, one of 10 balls held throughout the city that night. Tyra wore a custom-designed Nicole Miller gown with shoed by Giuseppe Zanotti and jewelry by Kara Ross for this special occasion. The Western Inaugural Ball, which was held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, was a happening party, with performances by husband and wife superstars Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.

Tyra is planning to share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with the viewers of her daytime talk show. On January 29 (that’s tomorrow!), Tyra is going to talk about what it was like to experience history in the making.

Even though I’m Canadian, January 20 felt like a very special and important day. It’s going to be interesting to see what Tyra says about it, so be sure to tune in!

McKey Sullivan Gives Modeling Advice

December 23, 2008 by Erin Balser

McKey Sullivan the most recent winner of America’s Next Top Model is on The Tyra Banks Show website, giving modeling advice to viewers.

She suggests that you need to be strong. know who you are and have the ability to take criticism the right way. Know what critiques you can fix and what you can’t. Be confident and don’t be afraid to show people who who really are. She also mentions that models who are creative, exciting and take risks are the most inspiring and the most likely to get hired.

She also mentions that modeling is really hard, but if it’s your dream, don’t give up!

I really hope that McKey separates herself from the Tyra brand as soon as she is able to. I think being an ANTM winner can work to your advantage in the commercial world, but not in the editorial one and McKey is definitely more of an editorial model.

The third episode of , Tyra Banks’s show-within-a-show for former America’s Next Top Model contestants aired yesterday on The Tyra Banks Show. The girls had a house party and things get a bit crazy. The stress of the competition is getting to the girls and Renee and Dominique struggle with being away from their children. The girls are also given their first ridiculous challenge.

Here’s the videos:

Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5

The next episode will air on November 19, the same day as ANTM’s finale! Modelville is a bit silly, don’t you think? You would think these girls would have grown up a bit and learned from their time on America’s Next Top Model.
