Chantal Jones in Two Music Videos
June 3, 2009 by Erin Balser
Chantal Jones, the runner-up of Cycle 9 of America’s Next Top Model is in the Black Eyed Peas’ video for their single “I Gotta Feeling” and Pete Yorn’s “Don’t Wanna Cry.”
In the Black Eyed Peas video, Chantal plays. Embedding is disabled, but you can watch the video here. Chantal’s role starts at the very beginning of the video, she plays one of the three girls out on the town. The Black Eyed Peas are all getting ready at their own homes before they head out together to a house party. You don’t get the best shots of Chantal in the video, but it’s clearly her.
On a sort of unrelated note, Ongina from RuPaul’s Drag Race is in the video too! You can see her dancing in the background at 2:35!
In the Pete Yorn video, Chantal plays the girl Pete is going to cry for. It’s a much different video than the Black Eyed Peas, and we get a lot of clear shots of Chantal as she breaks Pete’s heart. Again, I can’t embed the video, but you can watch it here.
I really liked Chantal and think Los Angeles was the perfect market for her. I’m so glad she’s been getting lots of diverse and consistent work.

Top Models in Action: Heather Kuzmich
April 9, 2009 by Erin Balser
Last night on America’s Next Top Model, there were two featured Top Models in Action, thanks to the doubler header episodes! The first girl featured was Cycle 9’s Heather Kuzmich. Heather impressed the audience and judges alike with her high-fashion look and her ability to deal with Asberger’s despite the high pressure environment.
I love Heather, but I’m surprised she was featured as a TMIA before several other girls. Yes, she’s signed with Elite Chicago, but is currently attending school full time to study video game design and is putting modeling on the back burner. She’s not not modeling, but it’s not her first priority.
What do you think of Heather being named a Top Model in Action?
Top Models in Action: Bianca Golden
March 21, 2009 by Erin Balser
This week’s episode of America’s Next Top Model brought back the popular segment from last cycle - Top Models in Action. The first girl to be profiled was Cycle 9’s Bianca Golden, who has stomped down runways all over the country, but is possibly best known for her altercation with Hairspray star Nikki Blonksy.
They profiled so many great girls last season I can’t help but wonder who is left! Who do you think will be the next Top Model in Action?
Saleisha Stowers Named a Worst Reality TV Winner
February 22, 2009 by Erin Balser
Comcast has put together a list of the fifteen worst reality television show winners. On it? America’s Next Top Model Cycle 9 winner Saleisha Stowers.

Image: Newscom
Saleisha is joined by Shayna Lamas of The Bachelor, Amber Lake from Rock of Love, Tila Tequila for just everything she’s done, Jesse Csincsak from The Bachelorette, Darva Conger from Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire?, Taylor Hicks from American Idol, Vecepia Towery from Survivor: Marquesas, Jeffrey Sebelia from Project Runway, Ilan Hall from Top Chef, Mike ‘Boogie’ Malin from Big Brother, The Apprentice and every winner it has ever had, J.D. Fortune from Rock Star: INXS, Lucas Rossi from Rock Star: Supernova, and Zach and Flo from The Amazing Race.
Saleisha made the list for her general lack of popularity with fans, her boring, unmodelesque look, and the sketchy circumstances under which she won. The list isn’t in any particular order, which is too bad. It would have been fun to see them ranked!
I really don’t blame them for putting Saleisha on the list. My only question? Where’s Cycle 10 winner, on it?
Heather Kuzmich to Be Video Game Designer
February 5, 2009 by Erin Balser
Heather Kuzmich, a fan favorite from Cycle 9 of America’s Next Top Model is putting modeling aside for a while so she can focus on her new career-being a video game designer! Heather is currently studying Video Game Art & Design at the Illinois Institute of Art.
She recently chatted with The Next Bench about what her life has been like since ANTM and what her future plans are.
Sh admits the modeling think just kind of happened and her focus has always been art and design.
“I always wanted to do something that included art and creating stuff with my hands,” Heather says. “At first I wanted to get into costume design, but that soon changed to game design, especially since I frigging love games and love doing weird designs for characters.”
She chats about the technology she uses and what it’s like to be a role model for people living with Asberger’s. It’s a brief but nice interview.
I really liked Heather, so I’m glad to hear that she’s doing so well! I do hope she doesn’t give up on modeling though. She’s signed with Elite Chicago, which hopefully means she’s still exploring it, even if it’s only on a part-time basis.

ANTM Obsessed Exclusive Interviews With Fan Favorites
February 1, 2009 by Erin Balser
Today, Oxygen marathoned Cycle 10 of America’s Next Top Model as part of their America’s Next Top Model: Obsessed. As promised, they aired exclusive interviews with “fan favorite” former ANTMers to find out what they are up to now and what they’re currently obsessed with. The apparent fan favorites? Lisa D’Amato (Cycle 5), Caridee English (Cycle 7) and Bianca Golden (Cycle 9).
Bianca talks about how people thought she was putting on a role, but promises fans that what you saw in Cycle 9 was the real deal. She talks about how quickly the show moved from being exciting to stressful and difficult and that affects your relationships in the house, your performance and more.
I really wish Bianca had kept her short cut. The long hair is nice, but it doesn’t look “model” to me.
Lisa chats about how ANTM changed her life. She feels the show represented her in a one-dimensional party-animal light. That’s affected her career prospects, but it’s also opened a lot of doors. She’s currently focusing on her rap career and is performing constantly at the Viper Room. If you’re her Facebook friend, she’ll invite you to all of them.
Caridee talks about how she wanted to be on ANTM forever because she knew she’d use the opportunity better than anyone else who has been on the show. She doesn’t regret anything she did or said on the show–good or bad–because the experience is what it is. She loved the experience and everything that’s come from it.
I think these girls were chosen less so for their favorite-ness and moreso for have somewhat of a career since ANTM and are still willing to be associated with the Top Model brand. I’d love to see them talk to girls who are off doing really interesting things and are actually having modeling careers (as opposed to entertainment careers) or chat with girls who have completely fallen off the map!
Saleisha Stowers in Garage Clothing Spring/Summer 2009 Campaign
January 17, 2009 by Erin Balser
Saleisha Stowers is in Garage Clothing’s Spring/Summer 2009 campaign. She will appear in the catalogue and on their website (images here, here and here).
The shoot took place late last year in Puerto Rico. The video is little more than a musical montage of the various photo shoots, but it looks like a lot of fun.
Puerto Rico was the perfect place to go–it really gives the photos and this video the colorful, youthful vibe Garage was looking for.
Chantal Jones and Ambreal Williams for KMS
January 1, 2009 by Erin Balser
Chantal Jones and Ambreal Williams, both of Cycle 9 of America’s Next Top Model worked together on a campaign for KMS. The campaign includes some print work (which you can see here) and a few commercials.
Here’s a video which briefly features Chantal and Ambreal. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the photo shoot for the catalog. They have her name as “Chantal Jone” which is pretty funny. She looks great and appears to be enjoying herself on set, as does Ambreal. The video is interesting in that it shows how many people it takes and how much work it is to put together a successful ad campaign.
Here’s a video that looks like a long-form commercial for KMS’s Cali hair campaign.
I really like both Ambreal and Chantal and am glad to see they are both getting work. Ambreal’s run on ANTM was a strange one-she was given a narrative by Tyra that didn’t seem to fit her. I’m glad that Chantal’s runner-up finish on ANTM hasn’t affected her career much. She seems to be doing really well at finding higher-end, edgier commercial gigs and her look fits really well with those kinds of brands.
Bianca Golden Cleared of Charges
January 1, 2009 by Erin Balser
Bianca Golden and Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky have ben cleared of all charges related to their July 29 airport brawl.
“The cases against Nikki Blonsky and Bianca Golden have been dropped,” Turks and Caicos Police Sgt. Calvin Chase told E! Online.
Bianca talked about the incident on The Tyra Banks show in October, saying Nikki’s dad openly and repeatedly hit her mother, and Nikki’s whole family attacked her.
Charges against Nikki’s father are still pending. The police refused to elaborate on why the charges against Bianca and Nikki were dropped, but I’m sure both girls are relieved they can put this messy situation behind them.
Sarah Hartshorne on Modeling Shoot
December 22, 2008 by Erin Balser
MySpace has a recent video up about a fashion shoot Sarah Hartshorne, the plus-sized competitor from Cycle 9 did recently. It was a small shoot for a local graphic arts company in Connecticut, Indigo 6 Studio.
I’m fuzzy on the details, but I love that Sarah is getting work. She was one of my favorites in Cycle 9 and it’s too bad her body size didn’t fit into Tyra’s pre-defined “regular” and “plus-sized” model types.
