Joanie Dodds’ Groove is in her Heart

April 15, 2009 by Erin Balser

Joanie Dodds, the Cycle 6 runner-up of America’s Next Top Model has a pretty good sense of humor. Which is why she’s happy to star in homemade lip sync homages like the one below for “Groove is in the Heart.”

The video is simply Joanie going about her daily tasks while lip syncing this great ’90s song. For an amateur video, it isn’t bad!

Since appearing on ANTM, Joanie has been working steadily as both a model and television personality. She was recently a judge on a local Top Model franchise that aired in the Bay area.

Mollie-Sue Gondi in Playground Music Video

April 1, 2009 by Erin Balser

Mollie-Sue Gondi, who competed on the sixth cycle of America’s Next Top Model and is arguably the most success ANTM alum ever made a recent appearance in the French band Playground’s newest music video. The video is for the song “Maravillosa” off their sophomore album, “Nightology.” The band performs in both English and French.

Apparently the band had a huge hit in France with their first album, with the song “1994″. I had never heard of them until now, but the song in the video below is pretty catchy.

The video explores the lives of those in the fashion world. Mollie plays a moody photographer and is great in the role!

I think Mollie was great in this video. I’m glad she’s diversifying her body of work as she gets older. I’m excited to see what she does next.

Nnenna Agba in Sergey Lazarev Music Video

March 24, 2009 by Erin Balser

Nnenna Agba, who competed in Cycle 6 of America’s Next Top Model appeared in Sergey Lazarev’s 2008 music video for his song “Girlfriend.” Sergey Lazarev is a pop star who is pretty big in Russia and Ukraine. You can learn more at his website.

In the video, Sergey could have any of the beautiful models he runs into on a regular basis - he’s a pop star after all! - but all he wants is his friend’s girlfriend. Nnenna plays one of the models lavishing him with attention.

I think this video is hilarious! Nnenna looks amazing and it’s great to see her doing so well. She seems to be getting diverse, steady work overseas.

Joanie Dodds Mends Children’s Hearts

February 19, 2009 by Erin Balser

Joanie Dodds, the runner-up from Cycle 6 of America’s Next Top Model, had a rare red carpet moment when she stepped out for the Children Mending Hearts Gala held at the House Of Blues in Hollywood last night, February 18.

Joanie kept things fresh and simple in a casual little black dress. The tights aren’t great, but I love Joanie so I’ll forgive her for those!

The benefit raised money for the International Medical Corps’s relief efforts underway in the Congo. Children Mending Hearts works towards helping children raise awareness, learn, advocate and share ideas through art and activism.

Here’s a video about the organization and it’s founder:

Several celebrities came out last night in support for the charity, including Alyssa Milano, Sheryl Crow, Ben Affleck, Anderson Cooper and more.

Mollie Sue Gondi in BBC Documentary

January 18, 2009 by Erin Balser

Mollie-Sue Gondi, who competed in the sixth cycle of America’s Next Top Model was interviewed for the BBC documentary “The Seven Photographs that Changed Fashion.”

In the film, photographer Rankin recreated his seven favorite images by Cecil Beaton, Erwin Blumenfeld, Richard Avedon, Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, David Bailey and Guy Bourdin. You can see a slideshow of the images here. He uses Heidi Klum, Erin O’Connor, Jade Parfitt, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Tuuli Shipster, Mollie Gondi, Daphne Guinness and David Gandy to recreate this influential and iconic images.

Mollie participated in the recreation of the Helmut Newton image. Her part of the documentary is below:

I think it’s an honor that Mollie was asked to participate in such an exciting project. The documentary originally aired on January 14, 2009 on BBC4 and has been replayed periodically since. There’s no word on whether there are plans to release it in North America, but it is up on Youtube, if you’re interested!

Top Models “Pay it Forward” on The Tyra Banks Show

December 16, 2008 by Erin Balser

Fatima Siad, second runner-up on Cycle 10, and Joanie Dodds, runner-up on Cycle 6 appeared on an episode of The Tyra Banks Show earlier this week.

The girls came on the show to pay it forward and become the top models they know they can be by giving back to their community. Tyra looks back at each girls’ powerful story and how it propels them to go forward. They look at Fatima’s female circumcision story, and talk about how ANTM changed her life. Joanie looks back at ho Tyra gave her a brand new smile

Here’s Fatima’s part:

Here’s Joanie’s part:

You can find the rest of the episode on YouTube. I think its great these girls are using their ANTM experience to help out others in similar predicaments.

Nnenna Agba in McDonald’s Commercial

December 6, 2008 by Erin Balser

Nnenna Agba from cycle 6 of America’s Next Top Model appears in this French McDonald’s commercial. It also aired all over Europe this summer in different languages. It’s about six months old, but I had never found a video clip of it, until now!

I think Nnenna looks gorgeous in the clip. I’m glad she’s kept her close-cropped hair and is getting work. I loved Nnenna when she was on ANTM.

Top Models on Metro Style

November 17, 2008 by Erin Balser

whitneythompsonmetrostyle1.jpgDani Evans, winner of Cycle 6, Jaslene Gonzalez winner of Cycle 8, Saleisha Stowers, winner of Cycle 9 and Whitney Thompson, winner of Cycle 10 are modeling for MetroStyle.

Whitney makes an appearance in their Misses section, first, modeling a double-breasted silver blazer that’s $59.99.

It’s also available in bronze, but Whitney wasn’t put in that jacket. I guess the silver was more her color?

I’m glad her roots are touched up in this photo.

Is it just me or is that jacket way too old for Whitney?

It really does nothing for her. Maybe if it had a belt and gave her more shape it would look better.
