Last night, during 90210, a longer promo for Cycle 12 of America’s Next Top Model premiered. This promo, like the first one, played with the origami and paper doll concepts. The girls are paper dolls that turn into or come out of flowers. All the girls are wearing short wigs, so it’s still hard to tell who is who. But if you watch it a few times, you will!

I like the promo, the concept is whimsical and fun. However, I do wish ANTM would go for something simpler and more high fashion. These commercials should really be about the girls on the show and now how awesome the CW graphics department is!

Cycle 12 premieres at 8pm on Wednesday, February 25th on the CW!

Does this seem weird to you? Entertainment Weekly’s Hollywood Insider is reporting that both Clay Aiken and Ciara will appear in Cycle 12 of America’s Next Top Model. Apparently Clay, who most recently starred in Broadway’s will come on board for an acting challenge.

Ciara, the popstar who dates Bow Wow and recently released the album Fantasy Ride appears to help out with a photo shoot.

Do either of these appearances make sense to you? Clay, while decent on Broadway, doesn’t seem like the best choice to judge an acting challenge, let alone an entire panel. He must be the guest judge for the first commercial (around the final 5 or 6). Otherwise, this makes no sense at all. Especially since EW is claiming Clay and Ciara show up on the same episode? How often does that happen?

Ciara might come on board to show the girls how to pose for an ad or an album cover? I’m not entirely sure. Musical muses were brought on board was when Tyra herself decided the ANTMers needed to star in her own music video “Shake Ya Body” (which you can relive in perpetuity on YouTube) on Cycle 2. Enrique Iglesias made an appearance in Cycle 9, when the girls appeared in his music video. Lisa and Heather came 1-2 in the challenge, which meant their roles were larger.

A few months ago, it was revealed that Christian Siriano would make a guest appearance in Cycle 12 as well. At least he’s a celebrity who would make sense. Not only is he in fashion, he came to fashion fame via reality television, by winning season four of Project Runway.

Christian Siriano, winner of the fourth cycle of Project Runway did an interview with Television Without Pity back in September and in it, he mentioned that he will be making an appearance in an episode of the “new season” of America’s Next Top Model.

He doesn’t give any details about his cameo, so we can only wonder what he will be doing! Do you think he’ll be a guest judge? Or participating in one of the challenges?

I don’t see him as a guest judge yet, simply because he’s still new to the fashion world and doesn’t have the experience and portfolio to warrant critiquing models. But he’d be great fun as a challenge judge. Perhaps it will be editorial related and he needs to find the right girl to model his couture clothing? I’d love to see Christian give the girls a posing lesson!

The Futon Critic estimates that Cycle 12 will premiere on March 4, 2009! Once an official date is announced, I’ll be sure to let you know!

New York magazine is reporting that Tyra Banks has slipped up and revealed the international destination for the twelfth cycle of America’s Next Top Model. The cycle is currently filming and will air on the CW in Winter 2009.

According to the Cut, Tyra was having lunch with an unidentified businessman and was chatting on her cell phone when the wait-staff overheard her talking about the cycle of ANTM that is currently in production.

“She was mentioning the girls arriving in San Paolo,” the source claims. “Getting Samba dancers and batacuda drummers to meet them on their arrival. A photo shoot with masks was mentioned.”

Now there’s no way to verify this at all, but we do now that Tyra has a pretty big voice. Do you think it’s true? Or is this waitress trying to get some noteriety by slipping the NY gossip blogs some dirt? Or is Tyra sly enough to send us down the wrong trail? Guess we won’t find out until February!

The CW has posted the application form and open call cities and dates for the auditioning process for America’s Next Top Model Cycle 12. As always, you need to be an American citizen 18-27 years of age, over 5′7″ and never had a national modeling campaign in the last five years.

The application is pretty rigorous, it’s 15 pages long and they ask you lots of personal questions.
