Alice Burdeu Rocked New York Fashion Week

September 14, 2008 by Erin Balser

Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 3 winner is ripping up the New York runways this Spring/Summer cycle. It’s only her second season and she’s easily become one of the most successful NTMers ever, right up there with Russia’ Ksenia. And why not? The girl is gorgeous!

Here’s a rundown of all the shows she’s been in during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week:

  • Marc Jacobs
  • LaCoste
  • Réyes
  • Lanvin
  • Louis Vuitton
  • Rad Hourani
  • Aurelio Costarella
  • Willow
  • Andy & Debb
  • Patrik Rzepski
  • She did way more shows in the NYC Fall/Winter season. I can’t help but wonder why. But I’m sure she’ll be rocking several runways in London, Paris and Milan shortly! London Fashion Week has already started and Alice has seen a few runways already!

Alice Burdeu Chats About D&G Photo Shoot

August 2, 2008 by Erin Balser

Alice Burdeu is starring in the Fall 2008 campaign for Dolce & Gabbana–a great honor for someone who has only been modeling internationally for a year. The shoot took place in the English countryside, and the line evokes a lot of Scottish inspirations–there’s tons of plaid!

“We went to London and it was done on this beautiful estate that was picture perfect. It was like a setting from a Jane Austin novel,” Alice told Australia’s The Herald Sun.

The perfect setting and simple concept resulted in one of the easiest shoots Alice has ever been on, she said.

The article at the Herald Sun also says that Alice is on hold for Vogue Italia. How fantastic would that be?!

Alice Burdeu Stars in Dolce & Gabbana Fall 08/09 Campaign

July 18, 2008 by Erin Balser

The ads for Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 08/09 campaign have been released and Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 3 winner Alice Burdeu is featured in the countryside-themed campaign.

The photos are gorgeous, I just wish alice was featured more prominently. Currently, she’s in three shots. She’s in the back left in this one, middle right in this one, and middle left in this one. She looks amazing and her red hair really makes her stand out.

Thanks to frillr for uploading the photos and hat tip to Top Model Live Journal for pointing Alice out!

AusNTM’s Alice Burdeu Gets Second Vogue Cover

June 5, 2008 by Erin Balser

Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 3 winner Alice Burdeu is arguably the most successful Top Model winner ever. (Along with Russia’s Ksenia, choosing between the two is pretty hard!). Alice is so successful that she’s getting her second Vogue cover in less than a year!

“She’s a different model now to the one who won Australia’s Next Top Model,” Vogue Australia’s editor Kristie Clements said. “She’s been validated as one of the top emerging models on the world scene and has a whole new sense of sophistication.”

I would love to see Alice get a Vogue cover that’s not Australia. As big an accomplishment this is, I’d argue that Australia’s Vogue is one of the weakest Vogue titles. How awesome would it be to see Alice rock the cover of British Vogue, Vogue Italia or American Vogue?

Regardless, I’m excited to see the new cover!

    AusNTM 008 Premieres Tomorrow!

April 21, 2008 by Erin Balser

In the wake of the fourth cycle of Australia’s Next Top Model premiering tomorrow, there have ben several articles in the Australian press about the show and its stars.

Judge Alex Perry spoke to the Sunday Morning Herald about the success of the show’s previous winner, Alice Burdeu.

“No other country - not even the American one - has had an Alice,” Perry said proudly. “She’s like the benchmark and she’s from Australia.”

The article also speaks very highly of the Australian incarnation of the show, calling it better than the American version.

“I think our show’s very different to the American one,” says executive producer Josie Mason. “I think Australians are a different audience and I feel the old-school reality, where you have a twist for the sake of having a twist, doesn’t work. We definitely do err on the side of modelling. The other stuff that happens - the trials and tribulations between the girls - that’s fluff on top.”

I love AusNTM, but don’t all reality shows say that?

Host Jodhi Meare spoke to the Herald Sun about what it’s like to be the host of such a successful show.

“It was intense and I was not prepared for how full-on it was going to be,” Meares said. “But it was an experience, and hopefully this time I’ll be a lot more prepared. I was so nervous last year. I didn’t throw up, but I could have. Public speaking and anything live I don’t like generally. I don’t enjoy or do that kind of thing usually, but it’s part of being on TV and it was a challenge and in the end was fun, even though it was a crazy night.”

I’m sure Jodhi will do a great job again this cycle. She was a bit of a bland host, I found, but actually helped the girls, was at the shoots and gave them true and consistent criticism. To me, it really looked like she cared about the girls and their careers as models.

Tune in tomorrow on Fox 8!

    More Success for Alice Burdeu

April 17, 2008 by Erin Balser

Aussie news source Adelaide Now had a great article about Australia’s Next Top Model Cycle 3 winner Alice Burdeu and the upcoming Cycle 4.

Ever since she won, Alice has been killing catwalks and photo shoots all over the world!

“Alice was a total stand-out last year, which was why I chose to put her on the cover after she won the series,” Vogue Australia editor Kristie Clements said. “That choice feels so validated now - she’s killed it in Europe and has become the most successful graduate of the Top Model franchise anywhere in the world.

However, Clements says that the next Cycle of the Aussie version of Top Model will be exciting, if only because there isn’t the obvious standout, as Alice was.

I have to agree with Clements. While some of the girls look promising, not have that instant draw Alice had from the moment she stepped out of her car and into the house. However, you should judge for yourself at the AusNTM official site. Who’s your early favorite?

Australia’s Next Top Model starts April 22 on Fox 8! Be sure to watch! And for all those non-Aussies out there, you know you’ll be able to find the episodes on Youtube!

AusNTM’s Alice Burdeu Scores D&G Campaign

April 8, 2008 by Erin Balser

How exciting is this news? Alice Burdeu, the winner of the third cycle of Australia’s Next Top Model shot her first major campaign this weekend in London, for the Dolce&Gabbana line D&G.

As for her recent modeling success, Alice has found it surprising and exciting. Her favorite show of the ‘08 season was her first, she told the Sydney Herald, for Proenza Schouler.

“My favourite would still have to be the Proenza Schouler [New York] show,” she said. “I fell over three times during the casting but they still chose me. When I came here I thought I would be lucky to get just one show.”

Congrats Alice. I’m really excited to see this campaign!
