Santa Monica Bans America’s Next Top Model From City Bus Ads

The city of Santa Monica was forced to remove ads featuring the cast of ANTM’s cycle 8 due to complaints from residents. The residents felt the ads were offensive, and that allowing the picture to remain on the buses implied that the city supported “a show they find disrespectful to women.”
The offensive ad in question features the above picture of the Cycle 8 girls.
Wonder how Tyra feels about this?
Do you find this picture offensive?

I think it is great that people are starting to speak up against the way women are viewed. Everyone should be working toward ways in which to honor and respect women for the struggles that they indure and the accomplishments that they have made. We are the role models for the next generations and girls need to be shown that they are intelligent and capable people.

I find it very disturbing that anyone would find this pictue or the show offensive or disrespectful towards women. As you can see, there are all types, colors, shapes, sizes, and personalities of women of many ethnicities. That should count for something. And it’s not like they are naked. If that’s the case, why not ban Sex and the City ads, or Victoria Secret ads, and other movies or shows that people would actually think is degrading or disrepectful to women, in which I might add, there are very many. And not only on buses, but on huge billboards and signs. If you don’t like the show, then don’t watch it, but don’t bring down other people’s success b/c of your personal opinion. Plain & Simple.
