Q&A Session with Top Model Eliminee Sara
Over at the Top Model community on LiveJournal, a user posted her notes on her Q&A session with Sara. Here’s a few snippets:
On being discovered:
Sara was shopping at Macy’s, when a woman came up to her and asked her if she was lost. Sara was utterly confused until the woman explained about ANTM. So she tried out and made it to the semi-finals in Los Angeles two weeks later. And the rest is history.Sara does not think it was a bad thing. She feels extremely lucky because she was in right place at the right time. However, she did feel that it was held against her. A few people thought she was not trying hard enough and equated it to the fact that she was discovered.
She believes in serendipity and that everything happens for a reason.
On modeling:
Sara does want to pursue modeling in the future, since she has the option to do so now. Being on the show made her discover an interest in modeling. In the past, Sara did think about modeling. However, she had other things going on at the time (school and athletics). Also, she did not know how to get into modeling; she was afraid of getting scammed.
On what Joanie said last night:
Sara had no idea that Joanie doubted her passion for modeling, so it was strange for her to watch it. Sara is not upset by Joanie’s words. Their friendship grew stronger in Thailand, and they became very close. Sara said that Joanie was stressed; and when people are stressed, they tend to say odd things. For the record, Sara does have a passion for modeling! On her experience in Thailand:
She thought it was simply amazing. The culture focuses on traditions and respect. She picked up many things from her experience, such as being more aware of surroundings and trying not to be ignorant around other people. She thinks respect is very important. She has learned to think before she speaks. She loved being on the elephant during the photo shoot and strung up in the marketplace. She did some shopping for her friends and family, of course. Sara also spoke some Thai. She said “hello,” “thank you,” and “My name is Sara.”On her height:
Sara says she is a confident person, and she is confident with her height. She was told on the show that the cut-off for models is 5′11″. She needed to work extra hard to make her height work. It wasn’t that she was not confident about her height but that she was not sure how to put it all together.Sara said that she was destined to be tall. She has a mammoth family! Her dad is 6′5″, her mom is 5′11″, and her brother is 6′4″.
