Nigel Barker’s Seal Exhibit

July 4, 2008 by Erin Balser

America’s Next Top Model judge Nigel Barker is an activist for animals’ right and is especially active in the campaign against the seal hunt. A few months ago, Nigel traveled to Eastern Canada (where I’m from–whoop!) with the Humane Society. He was planning to photograph and videotape baby harp seals and documented the annual seal hunt.

This work is now going to be featured in an exhibited titled “A Sealed Fate?” and it will travel across the country. It’s first show will be from July 25-27 in NYC, with the official launch being the previous evening.

Nigel will be hosting hourly private tours throughout the event. For more information, check the poster out here or email nigeltalksseals@thinkpublicrelations.com.

ooo big deal. Stupid animal activists and peta only care about animals that are cute. No one says anything about the baby walruses, that are hunted for sport in the exact areas as the baby seals. what a hypocrite and waste of time

I think it’s wonderful of Nigel. I am concerned about animal rights and I don’t just care about cute animals, although I don’t think any animal is ugly.

Seals, cows, kitties = what’s the difference?
Animals feel pain, & we all decide the line we’ll cross regarding how much suffering we perpetuate by our lifestyles.
I’m a vegetarian but I wear leather – to me it’s better than doing nothing to help animals.
BTW- Californians have a measure on the Nov. ballet re: factory farming, and the farmers are ahead, due to lots of MONEY.

Nigel should be highly commended for speaking out for those who cannot speak for themselves. Humans are animals too and non-human animals feel pain too. Mahatma Gandhi said that the moral progress of a nation and its greatness should be judged by the way it treats its animals.
