Jodhi Meares to Return to Australia’s Next Top Model
July 13, 2008 by Erin Balser
Despite her embarrassing no-show at the live finale of this year’s Australia’s Next Top Model, Fox 8 confirmed today that Jodhi Meares will return next year for the fifth cycle of the show.
“Why would we change a winning formula?” asked network CEO Brian Walsh when asked about Jodhi’s future with the show. “Australia’s Next Top Model is a fabulous ensemble of personalities of which Jodhi is a key part. They each make a valuable contribution.”
While her contract isn’t technically up for negotiation, Walsh told Jodhi to just go on vacation and “forget about” the media circus surrounding her decision. He’s confident she shouldn’t be worried about her future at the show.
This decision really bothers me. As much as I like Jodhi, I feel like she’s acting like a spoiler princess in regards to her hosting duties. The success f AusNTM isn’t dependant on her hosting–she isnt even the show’s first host–and while doing a giant live show must be tough, why be a television show host if you can’t hack that kind of spectacle?
What do you think? Does Jodhi deserve to return to AusNTM next year? Or should she be sent packing, like most of the contestants?

What exactly happened with her?, I wasn’t following the story
She bailed on the live finale and judge Charlotte Dawson had to host. This made lots of fans really mad and called for her resignation/firing.
i don’t want the judges to be biased. they can surely be human (duh), but not biased. i would love to see charlotte or even a whole new host for the 5. cycle.
jodhi is cute but she isn’t a good role model. the contestants should be able to do, like, everything from rock climbing to a phd grade paper. so should the host be.
I agree with Missmarnip. When the hosting judge shows favor, it gives the impression that her favorite is going to win, which is exactly what happened in this Cycle. Demelza sucked up to the cameras once she knew she’d blown it in the public eye, then began a campaign via the press to highlight how hard she’d worked (with a professional trainer!) to lose the weight the judges kept harping on, and how oh so sorry she was for her behavior, then as soon as she won, she was back to being the self-entitled little brat she always was and probably always will be. For Jodhi to first publicly embrace all things Demelza and then run away from it smacks of cowardice. I don’t think she got cold feet from hosting the live finale, I think she was afraid to have to vote for her obvious pet and have people deride her for it. Speaking of harping, I’ve harped on this before, so I’ll stop.
She should be let go because the first host(who’s name I forget) was waaay better than her. Also looks kind of tired and old compared to just a few years ago.
