America’s Next Top Model Cycle 8 winner Jaslene Gonzalez is featured in this month’s issue of Chicago’s Time Out magazine. They chat about her modeling career, the curse of being a reality television star and more.
“No, no,” she said when being asked about the prospect of returning to reality television like some former ANTM contestants. “I’m at a different level now.”
According to the article, Jaslene’s been busy modeling in NYC. She goes to 3 or 4 castings a day and books 4 or 5 photo shoots a month. She knows she’s viewed different from other models because of her reality background, but she tries not to let it get her down.
“I don’t know if [casting directors] sometimes hold that against me because they think I’m just a reality star,” she says. “It’ll be a bother at times and I’ll probably sit there and dwell on it for a few minutes,” she says, “but as I go on and prove myself through my work, hopefully I’ll get better results with my castings.”
They also question her height, highlight her charity work and ask about her relationship with Chicago now that she lives in NYC. Overall, I find the article tries to be honest about what it’s like to be an ANTM winner and what that means in the real modeling world.
