Interview with Top Model Danielle Evans

May 26, 2006 by Ingrid

RealityTV has posted an interview with Danielle!

QUESTION: What was the biggest hurdle or frustration you had to face in this competition?

DANIELLE: My biggest hurdle had to be being in the hospital. I have never in my life been admitted into a hospital so it was scary being there without my family. It was very frustrating to hear constantly about my accent from the judges. It was frustrating because I did not get the help I needed, like a dialect coach, to guide me to correct the problem. I am not a crier. I have a high tolerance for pain. I got a lot of strength from thinking about my mother who has rheumatoid arthritis. She never complains about the pain. While laying in the hospital I told myself, “Do you want to lay here and feel sorry for yourself or do you want to be America’s Next Top Model”…so I got up.

QUESTION: What was your best and worst shoot?

DANIELLE: My worst shoot was the elephant shoot because I was feeling so bad. It was definitely difficult to be on top of an elephant. My best shoot was on the beach in Thailand. It was so calm and peaceful. I want to be a Sports Illustrated model one day. Maybe they will use the photos from that day. (She laughs.)

QUESTION: Why were you so upset when you were asked to give up your signature gap and do you think it enhanced your chances of winning?

DANIELLE: It was more than a gap to me. I felt like the gap was a part of me that was being taken away. I cannot say it helped me win. I don’t know that; however, it did help me stay in the running.

QUESTION: What did you do after the show ended?

DANIELLE: I went home to Little Rock and got a lot of sleep because I know my upcoming schedule will be hectic.

QUESTION: What types of dreams did you have about being a model while growing up?

DANIELLE: I have been dreaming about being a super model since the age of 12. I don’t want to be just a model; I want to be a super model. I want to be the model that the designers think of when they are creating a garment. I want to be the model that walks out at the end of the show with the designer. I have been watching the show since season one. My brother is the one who encouraged me to send in my tape. “You have been trying this modeling thing for eight years; you have nothing to loose,” says Danielle’s brother.

QUESTION: Do you keep in touch with the other girls?

DANIELLE: Yes, I keep in touch with all the girls. I got along with all the girls and no one stepped on my toes. I am close with Mollie Sue, Joanie and Nnenna.

Danielle is a natural!! In other words, she was born to model. Some of her facial expressions give me the chills : ).
