Has ANTM Jumped the Shark?

Has America’s Next Top Model jumped the shark? Yahoo thinks so. They admit the show jumped the shark in theory a long time ago–but Tyra Banks is so insane that it was fun to watch, even if the contestants weren’t models or would ever be models and this show was in no way a training ground to become a model.
That being said, Yahoo is over the show all together. Honestly, I have to agree. The Snow White thing and the Top Model Institute of Technology was just too much. That was too over the top, even for Tyra. I want to see less concept-based insanity and more straight-up Tyra-insanity. Or let Paulina late over the show.
What about you? Has ANTM jumped the shark? Or do you still have hope?
I won’t exactly say the show has Jumped the shark, I think this is the one season where I actually see models, I don’t think they would go really far and become extremely successful, but the show is entertaining and Tyra’s over the top performance is what makes the show fun. They come up with the corniest ideas that makes me cringe, but that’s top model. She needs to cut the acting IRobot bull crap they did this cycle because that was painful.
I think the show is completely ridiculous. I enjoy AusNTM a lot more. While the modeling this year is a little better, Tyra just makes herself look bad by taking the show this way. It’s beyond over the top-now it’s just tacky and lame.

Analeigh? NO. I love her but we all know that is not happening
Elina? No. She has one look, she is short, stumpy, robotic and boring.
Sam? Please
Sheena? I love sheena but N-O. Too curvy and her face is too thick for high fashion. She might do well in the commercial world thanks to her addictive personality.
Mckey? maybe but she does not have a fresh face in person. She might take beautiful pictures but she looks old in person. She also has a look which we have seen before. The whole androgyny Mollie Sue thing. Next!
Who? only marjorie stands a chance. Marjorie alone but then again she looks like Aggy deyn and those other androgyny models so she might be discarded as a copycat. She’s from ANTM for crying loud. Who takes ANTM seriously?
This cycle has no models, whatsoever. None at all. Ever since the first cycle, ANTM stopped having real models ( eva the diva? naima? HELLO?). Cycle 10, however, showed some promise with Katazyrna, Anya and fatima. Those were the only realistic models and their post-show work has confirmed it. But as we all know, Tyra is looking for ratings not models so I’m-healthy-I-eat-and-skinny-girls-look-like-little-boys-Whitney won the title.

Now back to the question, I do think ANTM jumped shark a long, long time ago.
I watch the show simply for entertainment value, nothing else. Tyra puts on a good performance; all the outfits, the accents, the weaves etc etc sheer entertainment. Not to mention Ken Mok’s ability to scout interesting characters like Isis, Clark, etc. The girls, unfortunately, will find no success in modeling. They’ll end up on tyra’s couch on the Tyra Banks show talking about some sexual exploitation they experienced…again, providing ratings for Tyra’s media empire.

I actually don’t think anyone on that damn show are models, the reason why I thought this cycle was better is because of the looks they have, Majorie and Elina, no matter how much I hate them, they do look like models, we have not see that on top model in never, that’s why I think this season is a tad better, just an opinion, the rest are just awful, really really awful. Weather or Tyra is looking for ratings or not, let’s just thank for the fact that there is a show for models, who arent necessary models, but their bitchiness makes good T.V.

It’s a joke. But I still have hope in AusNTM, as I believe Alex Perry still has his senses.
To me, I think even the judges themselves don’t take ANTM seriously. The show is like a circus already. I want Tyra to give the hosting job to Paulina, kick Nigel and Mr Jay. Miss J to really coach the girls. Basically revamping the whole show.

Once again, I disagree with you. Elina has a sexy Angelina-Jolie look but that doesn’t necessarily translate into high fashion and successful modeling. I think cycle 10 has better girls who actually looked like models ( kata, Anya, Fatima, Claire, Amy).
I totally agree with Hollywood BS. I couldn’t have said it any better. I was also one of the first to say that this cycle has NO model potential whatsoever. None of the girls look like models, none, not even Marjorie. With her nerves, are you kidding me?? She won’t last a second out there! The only one with actual potential already got eliminated (Lauren Brie). The show has jumped the shark and it made it even more apparent this cycle. It’s the first time I’m not excited to watch the show. I still do because it’s entertaining, but I don’t look forward to seeing what kind of shoots they’ll do next. They either have to end the series all together or completely change it up, which I don’t see happening because of Tyra’s ego.
YES. the show has definitely jumped the shark. Tyra has a huge inflated ego and likes to point out every episode how wonderful she is? I think past beginning cycles were much much better. The photo shoot ideas were better and what is with that top model institute of technology bullshit? It just makes no sense to me. I still watch the show because i like seeing how the models progress, and some of the photoshoot ideas are cool. I just hate how the winners go nowhere. They have a little bit of fame. but thats it. and the “cover of seventeen magazine” is bullshit. they get half of a cover ? the other half goes to some big name star. And the thing that dissapoints me the most is that they get rid of people who have “no personality” since when is modeling about personality? Kat cycle 10 and Lauren Brie this cycle should have stayed.
i think there’s still a lot left in this show, it’s definitely not over yet, but they’re trying too hard to make it entertaining. the drama and good potential models is what really makes a cycle awesome. in my opinion, it’s gone downhill from cycle 3. i’ll watch the show until it ends, but it’s slightly disappointing the way it’s turning out. the choices of who gets into the house and all of the dumb stuff, like fairy tale makeover introduction, is taking away from the show. so, the show has probably jumped the shark, but i still watch it every week, so it’s still got something to keep people watching.

Definitely jumped the shark. There’s no more drama in it anymore since the judges themselves don’t really seem to take the competition seriously. It’s also hard as a viewer to take it seriously when you know, based on past cycle results, none of the antm winners are taken very seriously by the industry.
As far as the show goes, I was watching re-runs of Cycle 10 and every time they focused on Tyra at the judging table she’d be posing.
I love the original concept of the show, and the earlier seasons are great, but boy have the seasons gone downhill.
The thing that always bothered me is when there were girls from other countries. It’s like, I thought this was *America’s* Next Top Model!
I aslo agree I used t olike topm model? but after cycle 10 it just started to suck. Know it seems that it’s just pure boredom Cylcle 12 is lamest one in the history. None of hte girls seems like models and ussually i have a favorite one to win? But this season I don’t because all the girls don’t have modelling potenntial. i just watch it cause theres nothing else.
