Gina Guimont Interview With Jam!
In this interview done after she got the boot from Canada’s Next Top Model Gina talks about being too pretty to be a model:
Gina Guimont is, apparently, too pretty to be a model.
At least that’s the excuse given by the judges on Canada’s Next Top Model, who booted the Calgarian off the catwalk this week.
Ridiculous? Absolutely. But Guimont, a 23-year-old engineering buyer, has decided to take it as a compliment.
"I got a lot of comments that I was more the type of girl who’s in Maxim, not a top model. I’ll take that," she says.
"The whole fashion world is so subjective anyway. It’s about opinions and those judges all contradicted each other, so, at the end of the day, you just have to take it with a grain of salt."
Guimont, who had no modelling experience before CNTM, says she never expected to win, nor get into auditioning round or into the Top 10.
"I was in over my head when I got the call saying I was on the show because I hadn’t thought about a lot of things — I hadn’t thought about work," she says, adding her boss at Jacob’s Engineering was oddly supportive of her decision.
"He gave me a leave of absence to go and pursue another career. I mean, who does that?"
Since filming ended, Guimont has moved to Toronto, hoping to become a working model after the finale airs.
"I’ve done a lot of travelling and networking and I’ve gone to a few castings with a few different agencies. I have been having a blast and I am definitely going to pursue it — that’s the plan," she says.
Guimont is also planning a fundraiser July 19 in Toronto for the Canadian Cancer Society that will bring all the Top Model finalists back together — an event she says could backfire if the girls don’t let bygones be bygones.
"After the show, you go to another house which, to be honest, has as much, if not more, drama than the first house. I was actually surprised there wasn’t a few cameras there.
"I think maybe because the cameras were off, people could say what they wanted without it being flashed on national television. I just think it’s pretty funny — what else can you do but laugh?"
One person who may not find humour in all the catfights is Calgary’s other finalist, Tara. While Guimont says she was one of the easiest girls to get along with in the competition, the edited version of the show makes Tara look like a cocky tyrant.

I thought Gina was the prettiest at first glance. She may not be ‘model’ pretty but she’s the kind of girl that would turn heads on the street.
