America’s Next Top Model Cycle 10 contestant Fatima Siad wrote an editorial piece about her circumcision and how it affected her sense of self, her confidence and the decisions she made for her future, in the online newsmagazine Orato.

“There’s nothing wrong with sharing your story…with being vulnerable and weak,” Fatima writes. “Sometimes that’s what makes us strong. People who have courage are the ones who can share their deepest secrets.”

I think it was really brave of Fatima to write this piece and it was really nice to read about her experience in her own words, and not see it through the eyes of ANTM’s editors.

She also writes a fair bit about her journey to ANTM and when and why she decided to become a model.

It’s very honest and heartfelt and gives you a pretty good look into who Fatima is.
