Fatima Siad has been getting quite a bit of press lately! First, her personal editorial, and now an interview in the Boston Globe! The interview has a lot of the same themes–her circumcision and coming public with it, her modeling career and even looking like Iman.

I thought this quote was interesting:

“[The other contestants] kept calling me Baby Iman. First of all, I don’t look anything like Iman. She is beautiful and amazing, and she is such a wonderful woman, and I wish I could be like her. But just because we are from Somalia doesn’t mean we look alike. I want to be known as Fatima.”

While I happen to think she looks like Iman I don’t blame her for being bothered by it. It’s going to be hard enough to wash the stigma of ANTM off her career, let alone trying to establish herself with this Iman issue over her head. Good luck, Fatima!

Being compared to Iman is a huge complement! And I do think she looks like Iman. If she works hard enough and stops being so bitter maybe she can make a name for herself as Fatima, instead of the circumcised girl from Antm
