How come no one including Tyra has mentioned all of that on the show while it was still going on?
I think they should have said that all on TV to the viewers who are watching the show, instead of finding it out right now like some controversial scandal.

that is ridiculous. they shouldn’t even have DONE this cycle then….it’s almost as if the show is rigged now.
i can’t even watch antm anymore, it used to be great, now it’s so predictable. if anything, chantal, who was completely unexperienced, should have won.
Why???

most undeserved. She beating contestants like Heather, Lisa, Jenah, and even Chantal?
oh and, i know people like to say “you know” a lot.
but did anyone actually count the number of times Saleisha said “you know” in this interview.
It gets to a point where I feel all I could hear was “you know.”
Not that she has anything more exciting to offer, anyway.
Annoying.

I think Chantal should have had it too. Coming in with ties like that is ridiculous. Not only that, but she appeared to be more deserving of it. Its sad that it went to some girl with a bowl cut.

What a shallow defense she had to the questions about her prior involvement with Tyra. “Ummm, no, I didn’t think it affected my winning.”
Well, why? Can you please elaborate? Just a simple “no” doesn’t suffice.
She is not a very smart cookie and not a very good interviewer. God, I really can’t stand her.
WORST ANTM “winner” ever! Shame on you Tyra.

“can’t believe Jenah lost to dora the explorer.”
I can, it’s called getting an attitude adjustment & then maybe, just maybe, she’ll make it. Whether or not Tyra knew Saleisha more than they both let on, is beyond any of our knowledge. Let’s just all drop this whole thing - Saleisha is a GREAT model, and you can’t deny that. Perhaps Chantal should have won since she has next to no experience, but Saleisha would have made it even further if she placed second. Just watch, Chantal will make it bigger. The person who places second normally always gets a better “prize” anyway. Keep that in mind.

Saleisha looks like Tootie from the Facts of Life. Heather should have won, and will most likely get better jobs with high profile companies. I have friends that work in the high fashion industry and Saleisha is too short and (sadly) too heavy to do runway work. She should stick to Wendy’s commercials. None of the girls from ANTM go on to do anything in Paris or Milan anyway. The age a fashion model in Europe starts is usually 14 or 15, so most of these girls (while pretty) are past their prime and aren’t tall enough for foreign designers.

I think that her win was fair, but I still have a doubt. She was on the Tyra Banks’s show modeling for Rami from “Project Runway Season four”, she was on Cycle 6’s Gen Art Fashion show deal and this Wendy’s commercial. Might I add, she was on Ugly Betty as an extra. This is kind of causing a stirr on Tyra’s reputation. Wheather people like her or not, she rocked that final runway compared to the mess that is Chantal. My next choice to win was Jenah, she was obviously the most photogenic and had a good walk, and had the most potential to do high-fashion. Jenah and Saliesha were my favorites, and they all deserved to make it that far.
Get over it, NEXT.

Innocent or not, this whole thing has already tainted the title of the whole show in general. Sad.

Dec 19, 2007 at 12:42 am
Campaign…meaning she would have been in a couple of Wendy’s commercials right? She was only in one, therefore it’s not a campaign….What does being an extra have to do with anything? Extra’s aren’t models….There have been other contestants in previous seasons with some sort of experience before they came on the show…Stop hating and trying to bring her down because your fav. didn’t get it…And for the person who said Heather should have gotten it, you’re an idiot…She can’t even function on her own properly and she can’t walk…How is she going to make it in a cruel industry like modeling?
Jay
Dec 19, 2007 at 3:20 am
^ Just FYI: Campaign - meaning the commercial was part of a national chain of commercials. She only had to appear in 1 of those commercials for her to be in a campaign. Campaign is not the issue here, it’s never been, because it’s been already established that it is a campaign. The actual issue is whether her role in the commercial constituted modeling.

I was rooting for Salesha from day one, and I still think that she was the best model out of all of them. She takes gorgeous photos, whether you’re all going to admit or not, she knows HOW to model, and she definitely has the walk down. Chantal walks like shes constipated (no offence, I loved her too xD) But, I really don’t think it’s fair that she should have been eligable to be on ANTM at all. She DID appear in a campaign, and the application states very clearly, that that’s not allowed. I’ve never been a fan of Tyra, nor her forehead, but I think Tyra let it slip, only because she knew Salesha. Anyway, no need to be upset that Chantal didn’t win - always opt for second place. The person who comes in second usually gets a better prize than first.

Dec 19, 2007 at 8:59 pm
Is it because she beat out 2 white girls………..hmmmm seems interesting. Now all of a sudden she doesn’t deserve this she worked hard and now all the issues. A bunch of hypocrits I tell ya. If she was white and had that relationshipt it wouldn’t be an issue. Always trying to keep the black people in place, boy I tell ya.
uhhh no

Saleisha showed a lot of poise integrity and determination the whole season. the girl is gorgeous and takes amazing photos not to mention the girl walks like a gazelle (fierce!!!). she is extremely endearing and charismatic. she deserved to win. who cares if she had ties with tyra. Look at the past seasons you could say all the past winners were rigged because in my opinion the best girl wasn’t always picked. so get over it people the girl worked hard and allow her to enjoy it and not have to worry about reading nasty hateful things.

Dec 21, 2007 at 2:50 pm
sorry…just for clarification…what are these “amazing” photos saleisha allegedly took…Jenah was the best model ever and Tyra tried her damned hardest to dehumanize her and humiliate her…She will be far more successful, hopefully along with Ebony (gorgeous), than any girl from this cycle…Elite will drop Saleisha as soon as her contract expires…they wanted a HIGH-FASHION model…and Saleisha isnt what they were looking for….dont hate me or call me a racist because i dont like the black winner…hell, i would’ve chosen bianca over tootie

I don’t have a lot of knowledge in the modeling world, so when I recognized all the models and designers she mentioned, I was concerned. She’s the one that wants it. Hell, I’m into writing, and if someone asked me what company I want to be published under amongst all others, in a heart beat I’d say–scream, “Random House! OHMYGOD!!!!”
Her favorite model? Tyra. So what if that is her favorite model. Tyra’s also the host of ANTM. First thing I did when she said that was roll my eyes and mutter suck up.
On a completely random point, I think Janice should be a judge again.

I don’t think race has anything to do with anything on this show. If it did, and Tyra is African American, then why don’t more women of color win this “title?” I think it’s all about what the sponsors want. Nigel is a mole for Cover Girl. You know who’s going to win by virtue of Nigel’s gushing over his favorite in either the last or second to last episode. I also think that the rules should be the rules and from transcripts posted on the Net about “national campaigns,” I don’t recall the campaign having to be modeling alone. If that’s the issue, then ANTM should stop with all the stupid “acting” challenges. I also don’t understand why when someone posts their opinion on this site or any other, if someone doesn’t agree with them, they are automatically “racist” or “haters.” This name-calling does nothing to further the dialogue about this or any so-called reality show. Everyone had/has their favorites; respect it and if you don’t, stop passing judgement about people who, like you, merely wanted to post their opinion. Tyra doesn’t care about creating careers to rival her own. She’s a tv producer and she cares only about ratings and drama. That’s her job. And why has not one here commented about the CW spokeswoman who butts in on Saleisha’s interview at the end to say that fans of Saleisha’s can contact her via their website? Doesn’t that smack anyone of a network nervous about their so-called reputation trying to control an interview by listening in on the line? That amount of damage control speaks more to how the CW is guilty in allowing Saleisha through the screening process and their “rules: requirements. If they didn’t care or had done nothing wrong, there wouldn’t have been a CW employee holding Saleisha’s hand and butting in to answer her questions for her. No one else interviewed on this site had that type of interference or intervention. No one.

my only concern was that nigel and the other judges said themselves that chantal was an amature so it made no sense in my opinon to even put her in the finale saleshia killed the runway wasnt even a competion. It felt like they were tryna get rid of the talented models but thats just my opinon

Jan 1, 2008 at 12:56 am
I think Saleisha was the best out of the bunch! Chantal is too “I’m a dumb, blonde model”. Saleisha’s runway walk rocked! ANTM is not about the most unexperienced model doing the best. It is the Next Top Model so I think it should go to the best one rather than anyone who has progressed the most. I mean Saleisha didn’t have that much to progress anyway. I thought the week she was put on the bottom two, it was done intentionally by Tyra as Saleisha made a comment earlier that she’ll never be on the bottom two. Anyway, it doesn’t matter now… Saleisha won :)
SexiDoll
Jan 1, 2008 at 3:23 pm
H-dawg, you’re so utterly wrong! While Salisha didn’t have much to progress with, that’s only because she was already a model! She verbally admitted it in this interview that she’d done prior modeling gigs, fashion shows and been in fashion week all in L.A. as well as having done a fashion show for the Tyra Show. ANTM is all about improving and who’s progressed the most. The whole point about the show is (or was) to find a model for America, one who isn’t already a MODEL!!! Saleisha is a cheater who had ties with the judges. That’s like an actress sleeping with the director so she can get the lead in a movie. It might not matter that Saleisha has won this cycle, EVERYONE knows it was a bogus win. She should be DISQUALIFIED from the show, and her winnings should go to Chantal. CW needs to stop protecting Saleisha and admit to this being a fixed cycle. This cycle was utter crap and I can only hope Tyra can do better in C10.

race has nothing to do with it. i think saleisha was actually really good! i saw her covergirl lip gloss ad thing in a magazine the other day and i thought it was really good! sure her haircut isnt very good…tyra gave everyone ugly bangs! i liked both saleisha and chantal…so i hope they are both very successful
i love antm
Jan 2, 2008 at 6:55 pm
i think saleisha really did great..
obviously the judges knew she was the best– tyra doesn’t do EVERYTHING, theres lots more the show doesnt broadcast, so obviously more judges loved saleisha!
i did also love chantal; so i hope they both go far, i just wish everyone would give saleisha a break.

Jan 2, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Okay, Saliesha is the most commercial winner ever in the history of ANTM. She will not have that much sucess in the industry, because there is nothing speacial to her look. I like the girl and she is a bubbly CG type of model, but overall Saliesha was the weekest of the three remaining. Don’t get me wrong I would have rather her win over Chantal, but Chantal had way more obvious potential. Chantal, is just bland. Sorry, but Jenah was the best! No one this cycle can match her potential and overal performance. This was rigged, let’s just hope that cycle 10 isn’t. She won’t have big shoes to fill. :)
pooja
Jan 2, 2008 at 11:46 pm
thank you josh. i totally agree with you except for the fact that you said saleisha should have won over chantal. jenah killed it and i am crossing my fingers that cycle 10 isn’t as bad as this one. the only reason cycle 9 was good was because of heather and jenah.

i loved Saleisha i dunno man i loved her pics she was fierce she did a great job in her shoots that’s NOT fake and you can’t fake how the pics came out unless they just outright taught her how to be on top model when she was at the camp. But im disappointed that they didn’t disclose this information up front
Dana
Jan 3, 2008 at 3:30 pm
TVGuide.com: When Tyra said they were disappointed in everyone after that first spot, I was like, “What more do you people want? She sounded like a human being! You never get that in a CoverGirl commercial!”
Saleisha: [Laughs] I really thought I did well on that, too. That was my first time doing a commercial, and it was hard! But I took in the critiques and tried to apply them to the next one. Sure, I broke down a little bit, but I’m still sitting here as a Top Model, and I feel really good! I’m happy with how everything turned out on the show, because I worked hard. I really did!
I copied this question from the TV guide intervew(linked on this blog) The one thing that I would like to point out is that Saleisha said quote “It was my first commercial” what a lieing bitc you know what…… gowad

Jan 3, 2008 at 11:03 pm
I’d almost say I’m surprised to hear that she lied about ANTM having her first commercial, but maybe she was coached to not reveal she’d been on a commercial before. I haven’t seen the Wendy’s commercial, but maybe she didn’t have any speaking parts in it. Maybe she considered this her “first” commercial since she spoke in it.

All I have to say is this: If Saleisha only won because she knew Tyra then don’t you think that the other girls who met Tyra before and tried out which I’m hella sure that there have been plenty of girls that (from going to her Talk show to being at her camp) have tried out. Not to mention the females that did try out and didn’t make it but then came back for a second round (only one girl won out of the others like that did come back and that was Jaslene). So you can squash that mess right there. As for her being short…HELLO!!! Eva was short to but she won. And another thing if this cycle was “rigged”, then this was not the only one. perhaps you may want to do your research on Cycle 5 when Nicole won (read about Lisa’s comment on the show on wikipedia). That’s all I have to say about it.
#1: Saleisha #2 Heather #3 Chantal….Jenah I never really saw it in her
Josh
Jan 4, 2008 at 7:49 pm
Pooja, I understand. As much as I don’t like Chantal, she should have definitely won over Saliesha, because Chantal has the potential to go somewhere. Saliesha is just boring. Both of them were, hehe.
Yeah, Jenah and Heather were the only good ones that actually came out of the show.

Jan 5, 2008 at 8:13 pm
I hear ya, Naynay! With how this cycle turned out, it really makes me wonder about the rest of them. I still think Natasha should’ve won cycle 8 and Kahlen should’ve won cycle 4.
And yeah, I think Chantal had way more potential than Saleisha. I’m watching cycle 9 on the VH1 Modelthon and it’s just really weird to watch. There was one episode, right before the makeovers, and Saleisha was fired up over Bianca asking her questions. I’m thinking she was getting worked up because, maybe, she’d been told to not be too talkative about her prior modeling experience with the other contestants. Then again, it could just be me thinking too much into it all.

Jan 5, 2008 at 9:30 pm
If you read the contract (yes, I read it, only to be saddened by the height restriction) when you apply to be casted for ANTM, it has a section about this whole controversy. It’s not about her knowing Tyra, really. The contract says that if you have had any solid sort of modeling career in the last 5 years, you are automatically ineligible for the competition. I would say that being in a runway show in Cycle 6 counts as modeling… so she shouldn’t have been able to enter the contest to start with, much less win. Why make a contract if Tyra’s going to break it for someone she knows?
Frankwhite
Jan 6, 2008 at 12:15 am
57 blogs about this BS? I don’t think being a filler model for some show that includes other amateur models counts as a “solid” modeling career if thats what the contract said. Saleisha killed Chantal on the Runway and was the most consistent. It maybe arguable, but seriously? stop hating and pray for all those girls. WACK HATERZ

Jan 6, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Oh get over it! Jenah & Chantal was dumb blondes! Heather was beautiful, but couldn’t function on her own! Saleisha deserved to win, her commercial was beautiful! This is my list of people that shouldn’t have won the title of ANTM: Nicole, Yoanna, & Adrienne!
SexiDoll
Jan 7, 2008 at 11:26 pm
Her commercial was allegedly “beautiful” because she was already comfortable in front of a camera! She gave tips to some of the other girls, as stated by Heather in an interview. She also seemed to get defensive at times when asked for tips, as in the episode right before the makeovers. Being a filler model might not be a solid modeling career, but she’s done modeling. She did Fashion Week in LA, as well as other runway gigs and the like. And that was revealed by none other than Saleisha herself in the audio interview on this page!!! What else does anyone need to see that Saleisha was hand picked by Tyra to win this rigged season! And how many other seasons were rigged? I don’t know if cycle 8 was rigged or not, not with the amount of times the judges all made fun of Jaslene, but it really makes a viewer wonder. I personally wonder how many fans will be back, either to watch it because they don’t care who wins, and those who want to see if it will be rigged again. Honestly, stop being such blonde haters! Saleisha was given that win by Tyra on a silver platter. It would’ve been much more interesting to see a runway match between Jenah and Chantal. At least those two made progress, which the last I knew, was the whole point of the show. Not pick your favorite because you’ve worked with her before. Tyra’s too biased to continue being a judge.
Qiana
Jan 8, 2008 at 9:10 pm
OK, who didn’t love Heather’s face? Unfortunately, she couldn’t walk to save her life and forget about delivering the commercial (even with Jay feeding her the lines). If she could have pulled those things off she probably could’ve won. Lisa was cool if you want a model who lacks confidence. I think people are forgetting that the winner of ANTM needs to have “the package”. Just look at the open for “Top Model”…personality, walk, pics. As far as Jenah, I think her journey was different. I think people are overlooking the fact that maybe, just maybe, he cause for being on the show was a little self-discovery (am I the only one that felt that during the finale?)
People can say all day long that they’re not going to watch ANTM anymore…doubt it! You’ll be twicthing like a fiend come late February waiting for the premiere of cycle 10. Viva la ANTM!

Jan 10, 2008 at 10:52 pm
I loved Heather! I picked her from the first group shot picture because she stood out from all the other girls. She’s sitting on the floor right in the middle, and her eyes were just piercing! But no, she couldn’t do the commercial (but she looked great, even flopping as she was). But don’t forget how CariDee messed up on her commercials as well. Lisa did lose her self confidence. Jenah, maybe if she hadn’t done a little attitude/swan song at the final three, she could’ve had a chance. You know, if Tyra hadn’t already made up her mind. I might watch the next season, though it’s odd how Twiggy is gone. I wonder, pessimist that I am, if it was just that there were scheduling difficulties (hard to believe with the past few season of her on the show), or if she couldn’t take Tyra’s dominating attitude.
Qiana
Jan 11, 2008 at 4:06 pm
Tyra’s too biased to continue judging HER show…seriously? Who should she HIRE to take her seat, really?
I’ve read the eligibility requirements like everyone else. Unlike everybody else, I read the totality of the phraseology. It’s all about how those terms are defined. I think we should just chock this one up to people being upset because their pick didn’t get the title. It’s not the first time and it won’t be the last. I know I, for one, wanted Mercedes to win cycle 2 and Bre for cycle 5. Nonetheless, I will be watching cycle 10 like all the other Stans because I live for the drama…even the discussions that babble on as if it can/will change anything. Just hope the same passion for this topic can be translated to picking our nation’s next leader. Viva la ANTM!

okay guys
what is the prob here
i mean eaither wayy Saleisha is a great model , and saying “she is too comercial”
it’s pretty stupid to say that when half of you complaining about her winning don’t even know what it means
.
not saying i am an genius about modeling cause i’m not but what i do know is she was great and more creative in her pictures.
chantal or however you spell her name
just admit that if you where in the same shot with her you would smack the prep out of her.
if it didn’t happen it wasn’t meant to be.
she will ahve her shot
and all of the girls from the last 6 chances are already have modeling careers .
okay so Saleisha had training and all that crap.
w/e those photoshots where still hard as hell and i don’t think the training she got or excperience she got helped her in anyways .
if you were to get training and or do a few shots today
would you be able to pose while jumping in the air while this huge piece or hair is on your head and your infront of one of the best models in the world [tyra banks]?
there isn’t enough training and readieness for that one.

I do think that Tyra gets a bit strong handed on panel. There was one cycle, I forget which one, but even Mr. J said that he didn’t want to say which girl was his favorite because then she wouldn’t be picked. That was during the first episode of one cycle, where they were narrowing the girls down to who’d be in the house. I stand by my statement: Tyra is too biased once she picks a favorite. As for who should judge instead of Tyra? Someone who knows the modeling world, but won’t let their own _personal_ opinions cloud their judgment. And I also stand by my feelings that Saleisha was let in through some loophole. Why else would she have a CW rep with her in the interview on this page? So she didn’t say something she shouldn’t, even though that slip with her _past modeling experience_ came through. I liked Saleisha in the beginning, all through until I found out that she was a cheater. Come on, people! She was on Tyra’s talk show, in a fashion show, before she was on ANTM. You think Tyra wasn’t the slightest bit biased towards Saleisha? Give me a break! To think she wasn’t given a small helping hand is nothing more than viewer naivety.

I respect your opinion about Tyra being too biased to continue as head judge. I just disagree. How can any judge not be influenced by their own opinions…isn’t that the point? To judge and give advice from your vantage point? Do you really think that every winner isn’t assigned a slew of “people” to help them meander the press and such?
I do remember the (cyc 8) narrowing session where Ms. J said “every time I speak about my my favorites they just disappear.” (that was funny). I also remember Tyra getting out voted cycle6 when Kathleen was sent home first. I think there are too many instances where Tyra is flipping over a girls’ picture she would rather be sending home but the other judges voted otherwise. So could it be that it’s not as biased as some think?
I think this whole to-do about Saleisha’s experience is only because she won. There are girls with varying levels of experience in every cycle. Not every girl is from po-dunk USA in the competition as a means to get out of Nowheresville. Some girls have actually tried their hand at success at modeling the “traditional” way with minimal to no success and see the show as a springboard to garner some attention they otherwise would not have had. Plus, No one is bumping their gums about Sara (from cycle 8) being a photographer and having walked in a Chanel fashion show. Besides, there are ANTM alum who manage to book jobs without winning the competition if they choose to hustle and use their “fame”. Finally, not everybody who comes to the show has modeling on their agenda (a la Julie cyc 3). Some just want to parlay it into something else completely. And even some winners don’t even model anymore (Yoanna). Bottom line, I think it’s a win/win for everybody…even if you aren’t crowned ANTM at the end of 12 weeks…if you’re willing to work at it and not expect it to be handed to you…seriously!
So, as for cycle 9, it’s a wrap…congratulations to Saleisha. Bring on the next batch of wannabes!

How tall is Saleisha? does anyone know? Who was the shortest girl to be on ANTM? & how tall was she? just asking…
Qiana

If I remember right I think she’s 5′9″. As for the shortest girl, there’ve a couple girls hitting 5′7″ which is the minimum height requirement. But Eva is the only one to win at that height.

I do wonder if all of this would’ve happened if Saleisha hadn’t won. The fact that it did, and she does have that experience, seems to have left a sour taste in many viewer’s mouths. I know I’ll be watching the next cycle. I wonder if more fans of the show will do digging into the girls’ backgrounds earlier into the show this next cycle.
Personally, and as a fan of the show, I’d enjoy it more if no one on the show had modeling experience. Or at the very least, nothing huge (ie: tv commercials and/or fashion shows).
There is some power to be had when you’re a judge, and I could see it easy to sway people towards someone you like.
However, this is all done and in the past. You’ve got a great point, Qiana, in that some of the other girls haven’t won and have gotten picked up by agencies. Kind of like how some people on American Idol didn’t win, and yet have deals signed.
I didn’t know that Yoanna wasn’t modeling anymore! That’s almost such a waste, in regards to girls who weren’t picked to go to the house, and to those who were voted off by the judges.
dont worry about it

Saleisha was not my favorite but she did win. Time to move on to the next cycle. In the photo shoot with the dragon she really stood out. I have looked at alot of the contestants bios on wiki and a lot of them has also had modeling expericence.

Well, I didn’t like Saleisha either. However, I think it was wrong that the judges let her participate in the show when she had way more experience than any of the girls, it goes against the rules. I also thought it was sorda ironic that Tyra told Chantal that…she was “too amatuer.” Haha.

I dont know why everyones upset for gods sake it wasnt a phone in show where people should be disgusted because they wasted their money or something gees its Tyra show she can pick whoever she wants! Why do people watch it anyway? Its entertainement for me i like seeing the challenges i honestly couldnt care less about the rules or whatever!

I think you all are just mad for some reason. I don’t think being in a minute commercial actually gives Saleisha an advantage over the other girls. There have been some in the past with more experience than her. I liked Saleisha since day one, and on the other hand. If she had so much experience over the other girls, how exactly did was she not always on top? Go Saleisha!
Prescott
Feb 16, 2008 at 11:58 pm
Saleisha SHOULD have won regardless of experience or not. SHE WAS THE BEST.
Y’all probably would be saying the same thing if Jade Cole would have won Cycle 6. Jade had previous experience but at the competition she was good but was not good enough.

Prescott, you’ve got to be kidding me! Saleisha was not the best, she was just the one most liked by the judges. If you noticed, which I doubt, in the final judging round, they went over THREE out of all of the pictures. This is the first cycle when I’ve seen the judges NOT use all of the pictures in the girls’ portfolios. It wasn’t fair in the least.
As for Jade, she was a pretentious, arrogant girl. Would you really want a younger sister, or any girl, to look up to someone who thinks she can do no wrong? I couldn’t stand Jade, but it was due to her rude behavior.

Lol…i think it’s funny that everything has to do with race. Ridiculous…and in my opinion Tyra Banks is wayyy racist!! Anytime there is a black girl and a white girl in the bottom two, who does she pick?! of course the black girl!! and shes always talking about how proud she is to be a black girl, bla bla bla shut the F up. You don’t see any white girls standing up there saying “Oh I’m proud to be white and S***” gimmie a break. The shows rigged!! And of course all you black girls want the black girl to win…and you all say white people are racist?!?! hahahahahaha…Riiigghhtt!!! Go back to job then get back to me.

Why are people still on this?
Your Mom: Why DOES everything have to be about race?
FYI: People of color tend to be more vocal about pride in their ethnic heritage because they are baraded by images that never reinforce that black brown yellow or red are is beautiful. Why wouldn’t Tyra (and other black models) do the same thing especially when they’re told constantly they can’t have this or that, make less money to do the same job as a white model all because they are black. Just look at the whole picture please before you dismiss another person’s POV.
Just so you know, not every black girl goes for the other black girl in the competition. I liked Saleisha and Lisa from the beginning of the competition, but I was pulling for Heather. I loved her! For awhile the judges overlooked her sub-par walk. Then when she couldn’t deliver on the commerical I knew she wouldn’t win as disappointing as it was. Jenah…personality deficient…smile girl, seriously! No one said you have to “spew rainbows” incessantly to be likeable but damn.
Your mom
Feb 21, 2008 at 1:02 pm
Everything’s about race because black people make it that way!! They don’t get something they say “It’s because I’m black”. It’s so annoying, maybe your just not good enough to get it?! You all get special privledges because of your color…thats not cool. I wish I was born black so I could get scholarships for being black etc.
Qiana
Feb 21, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Are you serious? I’m dumbfounded! How old are you? Where are you from?
Of course there are instances where a person of any ethnicity doesn’t get a the job they wanted. Sometimes it’s about qualification. Sometimes it is because the token black brown red or yellow is already in place. It kills me that you think your life would be so much easier to be black. You really shoudn’t believe everything you see on television or read on the ‘net. Every single black person I know with a college education went into serious debt to get their degree. There are scholarships for everything under the sun…for being left-handed or less than 4′10″…you just gotta look for them if you want it. I’m truly curious as to what privileges you think black people receive just because of the color of their skin.
The sad thing is you probably believe everything you’ve ever been told about race in this country. You’re probably one of those people who feel like racial injustice was so long ago people should just get over it. The problem with this thinking is there are people still living and actively apart of your life sitting on a wealth of information that would enlighten you to the fact that Jim Crow and slavery weren’t that long ago…certainly not as long ago as people seem to think. Talk to your grandparents, even your great grandparents if they’re still living. Ask them to be candid with you. Hopefully they will be. Then we’ll see how much you long for the experience of Black-ness.
For you, Your Mom, I wish critically enlightened thinking, love of self and the courage to live free of ignorance.
Respect!

i can’t believe saliesha won antm 9.i never ever liked her in the first place.i thought she was to cocky and her pictures were no where near great.i think the only reason why tyra picked saliesha is because she already knew her.saliesha went to tyra’s t-zone camp, appeared on the tyra show twice as a fashion runway model, she was also on ugly betty,a wendy’s commerical, saliesha was in the mase welcome back video, she appeared as a runway model in a fashion show on antm 6,and she did a couple of ads.so u see tyra jus picked a girl to win antm that she already knew and has had appearance right in front of her.so i think that saliesha only did better than chantal in the runway walk is because that is not the first time she done a fashion show and that is not the first time she walked in front of tyra so it was so easy for her to walk without being nervous.poor chantal she looked like a mess in that fashion show i can tell she was nervous i can tell it was her first time doing a fashion show.and when twiggy was commenting about saliesha’s walk during the season finale saying that saliesha looked like she was doing this for a long time well of course she was going to look like that she has been doing it for quite a while.but anyways i think saliesha was a horrible choice.lisa, chantal,or jenna should of won at least they took great pictures.and in the season finale they usually compare almost all of there pictures but they just jumped from pictures #1 to the ones where they had to be gorgols and straight to episode 12 pictures they didn’t even show the covergirl photos.i think they did that because saliesha’s pictures compared to chantal’s pictures are terrible.and to me saliesha’s covergirl photo looked stupidddddddddd.i only liked jenna’s and chantal’s covergirl photos.

Hip hop - it was more like like like Valley Girl… like um okay.
I’m gonna start watching Americas Next Top Baby Model instead!
Shortend Contract
Mar 2, 2008 at 11:27 am
According Enwikipedia - her Elite Contract was “shortened…” NOt sure why, but i think that says it all…
‘The CW said in a statement that Stowers did disclose her participation in the Wendy’s spot, and “after reviewing the commercial, it was determined that her appearance did not amount to “modeling” experience, and therefore did not exclude her from participating in the show” although her modeling contract with Elite model managment was shortened”

4 u…hatas: are you serious??? did you go to school? I guess you never learned spelling or english just ebonics…lol thats funny. All you black people do is fight and cause violence, have babies by 10 different fathers, and sit your ass at home eating fried chicken while welfare pays for you to be lazy. You guys don’t know how to act like civilized people. You can’t talk to anyone without screaming and making a fool of yourself. Its pretty funny that you all prove the sterotypes right!!!! hahahaha
Qiana
Mar 6, 2008 at 11:27 am
ur mom: You can’t really be that ignorant. Usually I can ignore people that are just spewing hate for no reason at all, but ignorance can not be ignored because it only spreads under the guise of truth. Stereotypes? Are they really a basis of proving something to be true? If so, all white people are bigotted, self-righteous, murderous theives. Since I know plenty who are NOT that way why on earth would I think EVERYONE is that way?
I would admonish you to not beleive everything you see in the media. The POV is almost always slanted to make one side seem worse than the other. You would be shocked to know there are more (lower middle-class) white people on welfare than any other group. OK, let me make this simpler for you since you clearly only read blogs. Take a break from your computer, drive down to your local Department of Human Services and observe how many of your own kind you see.
Seriously, it would be easier for me to stomach the bigotry you espouse if you were born of the Jim Crow era. I pray god you are not younger than 25 and still lack the fortitude to think critically and formulate your own thoughts and ideas. Here I thought it was only the poor that would be with us always…we should add the ignorant to the list.
PS. please love yourself so you can stop projecting the self-loathing onto others. somebody really needs a hug.

I am a nurse practicioner and my husband is a pharmaceutical sales representative for Daiichi Sankyo and you would be amazed to know that we are………black!!!!!! So I guess that blows your theory of all blacks being on welfare and sitting around eating fried chicken all day, and quite frankly I hate fried chicken. Here’s the biggest kicker of them all though is my husbands brother was killed in South Carolina eight years ago by two white men who were robbing the bank where he worked. These two white men were repeated offenders, drug addicts and had resorted to several robberies as means of survival, so I guess it’s safe to say that pathetic low-life people come in all colors huh?

I can’t believe they let her still enter the competition, it’s not fair at all. The whole point it amateur models, she’s been on TV, she’s been on adverts and runways. There’s a reason she hasn’t gone far then. Someone should of mentioned it during the show. Scandal, the shows was rigged basically. The majority of people that support Saleisha can’t even write properly.

All I can say is that it shouldn’t matter what your nationality is. I personally don’t care if anyone is black, white, or fat or skinny. If your personality is mean or narrow minded, then it’s easy to see why you wouldn’t be liked. Bringing up matters of fried chicken and who fathered someone’s child is disgustingly racist and a poor reflection of yourself, ur mom!
In the case of Saleisha winning, it’s obvious that it was fixed. I was interested in Saleisha’s reaction to Bianca questioning her about any tips because she knew that Saleisha had done modeling before. Saleisha flipped out on her! That made me curious about her reaction and made me wonder what she might be so defensive about. That was before I looked her up online.
And maybe the producers or Tyra saw this cycle and thought, let’s fix it so that someone “different” wins. That’s the only reason why I can think that Whitney won this cycle. I loved Whitney, she was a great girl, but I don’t think she was the strongest picture-wise. Anya was very strong in her pictures.
But let’s keep another show, American Idol, in mind when it comes to who wins. When it all comes down to it, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose in ANTM. Yes, the girls get their time in the spotlight thanks to Tyra, but they have to work hard after the show to keep their careers going. Tyra and the J’s won’t be there to hold their hands forever. I’d love it if ANTM was like American Idol, where the viewers get a chance to vote.
