Exclusive Interview With Heather Kuzmich of America’s Next Top Model
Today I was lucky enough to chat briefly with Heather Kuzmich who was eliminated from America’s Next Top Model last night. She was SO nice! Check back later tonight for a written recap of her interview with me and some of the questions asked by other reporters who were also in on the conference call. Also she said in the interview that she plans on reading all the comments so feel free to write comments here and maybe she’ll read it and answer you!

Thank you so much Leora for the interview with Heather! I felt upset when i watched the episode where Heather was eliminated ( i cry when she was cut and i cry when i watch that episode). I think Heather will succed in modeling, she knows that, and i think many model agency as well. Just look at their photos and the personality she has… she is so sweet.

I seriously cried when you were eliminated. You were my favorite. My whole family loved you. My sister was attached to you the most because she may have aspergers. I am so proud that you made it so far. I wish you had won. I may stop watching (probably not) because Heather was my favorite. You had the best photos and I hope that you get discovered.

You are the best, sometimes a bigger blessing comes later on. Maybe God has something bigger for you that ANTM can’t deliver for you. I’m looking forward to seeing you in ways that no other ANTM has ever been seen. Don’t give up because we haven’t given up on you.

I was very upset that Heather was eliminated. I have watched several seasons and I know that that at least one winner had trouble with the cover girl commercial, directions, etc..I would have preferred that they dealt with removing the DIVA attitude this year, and showed how it can effect your career in a negative way. I am wishing Heather much success and with those beautiful photos I am sure we will see her around!!

Dear Heather,
Sweetie, you were robbed! Whether it was through editing or by a lesser design, you certainly held yourself up higher than the other girls in the house by your strong spirit and behavior. People in the modelling industry often comment that ANTM is not the real world and that the pressures put upon you are not the same as you would find outside the ANTM house, so you’re going to do just fine. What excuses did Jenah and Chantal give for being so cruel as to not give you a lift back to PT Agency? I have to tell you, after the way you were treated by your housemates and Tyra Banks, I am done with the show. None of the remaining contestants are deserving of the prize, either because of their behavior or photo shoots. Also, and finally, you were one of the most articulate interviews in a casual, one-on-one way with the camera. Certainly very entertaining (”Tyson Beckford. Yummmm!) and intelligent (although China is not a city, like Las Vegas. Just kidding.).
All the best to you! If you think all is lost, look at Elyse Sewell, 2nd runner up from Cycle One (my favorite to win in that Cycle). She lives and works out of Hong Kong, but travels all the time to Europe for runway and print work. If you go to You Tube, you might find the commercials she has done; a recent job included working with Chow Yun Fat in an ad for a Macao casino in which Elyse not only was dolled up gorgeous but did the flying wires thing you did in China! You can find her blog on Live Journal and see what you’re in for in the international world of modelling, because you have a great portfolio, great look, are a hard worker, and no longer have Jenah bad mouthing you on set.

Heather, when I first tuned into ANTM just 4 weeks ago (because I wasn’t going to watch this cycle since cycle 8 literally sucked). I immediately, said, “THAT girl (you) is definitely a model material and finally , finally Tyra chose smart!” . Since then I’ve been rooting for you to make it far. I only came to know you had a disability when I was reading the forums. Your fans (we call ourselves The Heather-ettes and the guys Heatherers) joined with you in your journey in this competition. You’re both beautiful, sweet-natured, classy, funny and did I mention beautiful? I’ve never been so emotional for any Reality TV shows before and your elimination made me just that, teary-eyed emotional mess. You’ve been the most memorable contestant ANTM has ever had. You’re so well loved. ANTM won’t be the same without you. To us fans you ARE America’s Next Top Model winner because you won our hearts.

you know what Heather, you just lost the title of ANTM, but everyone knows that you are more than that. Tyra say that maybe there are some clients that want to know Heather. For me many top model agency really want you to know since the begginning competion (i mean is not a possibilty, is a reality)
I think your photos are the best of the entire cycles and Tyra did a wrong decission whe she eliminated you, she knows that you have the one of the best model potencial (remember the week where you did the Enrique Iglesias videoclip). She, instead of helping you with little weaknesses, do everything wrong; she says that personality is important but she contradict when she keep Bianca (whose acttitude sucks). She didnt pay attention of the way you behave the entire competition, most of the girls use you for makes jokes
Love everything you do, your photos and your artwork are out of this world
By the way what game do you like.. I wanna know to see if I could have the opportunity to play with you, I love RPG by the way (hehe)

Well the best girl is out.
Heather you are the rightful winner in my eyes, whoever wins the competition will just be blegh in my eyes!
Now it was a pity you couldn’t find the first go-see location, but everyone has a bad day once in a while so yeah no biggie there.
Anyways thank you for making Top Model, a good show to watch again. You showed those girls how great pictures should look like and you had one of the best pictures in the last episode but yeah I guess they already picked their winner so they are just eliminating people randomly now.
I lost hope in Tyra, Twiggy, Nigel and Miss J, when they chose a man or eh my bad Jaslene as the winner in cycle 8 when she only had one look and started on top and didn’t really make any progress. While Natasha who tried different things and actually struggled her way to the top got robbed.
But all the best to you in your modeling career in the future. Hopefully you will outshine whoever the winner will be :)

Heather, I think you are truly the most beautiful girl from all the seasons of top model, inside and out. You are deserving of something much more than the title of America’s Next top Model. In the end when you said it was more about the experience than the winning title, right then and there I knew you were more than a reality TV show contestant. You are a model for girls all around the world who have lost themselves. I hope that you keep working at your modelling career because you are someone special. Goodluck in all your endeavor!!

I’m so sad you got eliminated =( I think you did a fabulous job! You were my favorite girl in the cycle, I just wished that you didn’t get eliminated that fast. I’ll put it this way, I didn’t want you to get eliminated AT ALL. You were very sweet in the show and I didn’t like it at all when the girls were mean to you those 2 weeks before you got eliminated. You know, Im chinese and I haven’t been to Shanghai yet so you beat me!!I hope you liked China, it’s a beautiful country. I didnt know you were a big fan of computer games!! Ditto! I also spend a lot of time on the computer..I can’t help it. Hehe. Well, Heather I hope you time to answer me! =) I wish you the best in your modeling career! =)

My only comment was that even though I loved Heather, she did not even know how to PRONOUNCE Asperger’s and to me that showed lack of knowledge about her own disorder. I also did not like the constant tale of it being a form of autism… it isn’t. It is in the family of disorders that autism is IN, but it’s not the same thing.

Laura, your comment is off-base. One of the symptoms of Aspergers is problems with speech. That would include pronunciation.

First of all, let me say I haven’t been this excited about a new face in a long time! I am an artist also, so I know what I’m talking about. I think you will be phenomenal as a model, but also as an actress. The camera really loves and gravitates to you! I am praying for you to have great opportunities to come to you! Wow, what can I say? I’m a long time fan of the show but you’re the first contestant that has really impressed me with how real you are. I’m not the type to leave comments or even listen to post-show interviews, but you were an exception…and not because of you talking about your disability on the show (though I commend you for doing that), but because you stayed true to yourself and kept up your charm even when the other girls were being horrible to you. I go to university in Canada, and myself and my housemates watch the show together every week. Sometimes we’ll make fun of what the contestants say or do, but whenever you said anything, we’d be like “aww we love Heather”. It’s interesting to me that you were picked on the most in the house for being “awkward”, when I think most (normal) people would agree that you’re actually very wise and articulate when you speak. I know that you will go far in your future endevours. And please, don’t listen to any of the girls who say you wouldn’t be able to handle modelling, because you’d wipe the floor with them.

I actually cried when you left, which is something that is quite weird for me to do over a tv show :) You seem like a very nice girl, and a good model. to ANTM, why don’t you include viewers text votes in your decision for choosing who will win. with this, we will definitely see that Heather wins this contest. people from around the world loves her and will vote for her. bottomline, these designers will choose models like Heather to show their clothes off because she is very salable. ppl will buy their clothes because of their positive association with the endorser/model. the market dictates what they want in a product. don’t you forget that. good luck to Heather. we love you! :)

I have to let you know that from the first photoshoot your were my favorite. My brother has Autism and it almost brought me to tears knowing that there would be someone out there to represent him and show the world that you guys are out there and saying “look at me” instead of hiding in the woodwork.
I was incredibely sad when you left, but I was happy you made it as far as you did. I know you’re getting an education as backup and I admire you even more for that. But Please, Please continue with modeling because I’ll be your biggest fan for life, you’ve touched my heart like no other Top Model contestant ever has. I love you and wish you all the best in everything that you do :)

Heather I too was quite disappointed when you were eliminated. I have one son with autism and another with aspergers and it still amazes me the ignorance of how these girls acted toward you. It is all too familiar but if you are any thing like my children I know that Aspies generally like who they are and I believe that you will go on and succeed in whatever you pursue. Some people have told me that my middle daughter behaves alot like you. She difinitely fits the criteria and I know it is different in girls. I thank you for opening people’s eyes. I don’t think of it as being a bad thing because if normal is being catty and mean then I would rather have aspergers. Be true to yourself. You are truly a gem.

Heather, you completely rock my world. You were my favorite to win, and now I have little reason to continue watching. I probably will check in on the finale though.
If you will answer any questions, could you answer this one: A lot of people feel that at certain points in the competition, you were given special treatment and an unfair advantage. Would you agree and do you think that’s appropriate?
I personally thought you rocked the competition in a way that people didn’t expect, so they had to make reasons for your surprising success. I hope you find happiness in whatever you do!!

Like many of the others here, I am rarely moved to leave comments on sites like these. But I truly believe that you should have won the competition. Having said that, it would appear that fate has other plans… dare I say, bigger plans for you. You are an inspiration.
I identified a lot with Mercedes in cycle 2 because she has Lupus and I have Lupus, and I remember how much hope it gave me to see her capable of working for her dream. I didn’t expect to have a similar reaction to somebody with a different disability than mine, but I think that’s just the effect you have on people… you give them hope. (Plus you were easily the most beautiful girl there, capable of both commercial and high fashion, and I think the judges must have lost their minds.)

Yo Heather what’s up homegirl this is Rosie in NYC who like you have the same exact condition as you do only i am a couple of years older about 29 and a half years old to be exact. I also have depression and general anxiety disorder also and a touch of adhd thrown in the mix. I loved you from the start and when I hear you got the boot. Heather received special attention because she is amazingly beautiful. She will go much further than that loser competition. She was too good for them.
They all have a vicious mind set like you. That competition has nothing to do with modelling. Just a torture of young women so Tyra can retire well.

Sarah… Of course no one is going to hold her hand as a professional model, but when you have a disability, you have to figure out strategies to approach those tasks which you find challenging. But that takes time and experience. In the real world, you have that chance (you may not believe that, but I know it’s true from experience). On ANTM, Heather didn’t get that chance. If Heather decides she wants to model, she is definitely bright enough to come up with strategies for future situations.

My daughter, Chanelle, is also an Aspy, with Asperger’s Syndrome. I believe she inherited it from me. We are working on a diagnosis at this time. Heather, if you do read this, I want you to know that there are other girls out there just like you, and I know the struggle you go through, but you are doing wonderful in spite of it. :)

I’ve watched every episode of every season of Model, but you are by far my favorite contestant ever. You are incredibly beautiful and incredibly real. Take pride in being yourself and please never sacrifice that! You are an inspiration and role model to so many people.

WHAAAATTTTT! This has to be a joke!!! Heather was cut? I can’t believe it… She deserves to be there, she deserves to wiiiinnnnnnnnn!!!! I thought that she would be America’s Next Top Model, she deserves it more than Bianca… It was so cool to see her and her photos because they are amazing… But now I guess that the last three girls will be: CHANTAL, JENAH AND SALEISHA, and if I have to pick one, I would say JENAH… Why? Honestly, my family loves Heather. My son, Ryan, has Aspergers and he watched the show because of Heather. He said that if she can do it, then he can too. Since then, he’s tried to overcome his panic attacks and fears so he can do more. She was such an inspiration for him and I can’t thank her enough. She may not know it yet, but I’m sure there are lots of little boys and girls out there that look up to her now.

Heather, you added a reason for me to watch America’s Next Top Model. To me, the show is always a bore, but to be able to identify with someone on the show, well that’s excellent. I agree with Aisha. You have a very special quality about you that is rare along with your beauty. I think we should all write to Victor Skrebneski in Chicago as someone had posted above. I looked up his website and didn’t realize he had taken the some of the best photos of Iman I have seen but hadn’t known who the photographer was. If enough people write, I’m sure someone will do something. Bottom line they want to sell an image and Heather has it! Go Heather!

Heather u r the sweetest girl…i wish u’d 1!…I almost cryed when you got cut cuz we r so much alike i dreaded watching but my mom wanted to see who 1 so i had 2 or else i woul’dnt of….I thought that i had asbergers at 1 point in my life my mom 2 but my doctor i guess did’nt think so…but i found out i have adhd thats what my doctor said but me and my mom think i have add because i forget all the time but i dont forget when thats something im interested…i cant pay attention to anything…i act out b4 i think i absolutely cannot focus or keep still i fidget…when i’m in the middle of something i cant stop i have to finish it and we thought i had asbergers because its uncomfortable for me to look people in the eyes….still making eye contact wit people is still uncomfortable and other things for which i cant seem to remember…well enough chit chat….U ABSOLUTELY ROCK! Heather is fierce! i’m very upset when she’s gone in terms of asperger syndrome. I dun know what de hell happen to her? is it for destiny? it’s totally different from my imagination. She should won this competition and she’s the one that make antm cycle 9 to have best-watching. i vote for her 10 times better than other girls like Saleisha or Chantal. Heather has experiences of model and suitable for becoming the winner. but imagination is totally from reality and i’m very piss of tyra and i dun wanna open my eye to look in this cycle and i’m lookin forward to cycle 10. hope that it’s not the best one who is eliminated like this cycle 9.

i’m totally bummped knowing u’re eliminated. SAleisha? c’mon,,damn.. what’s WRONG with the JUDGES.r they for real??!!! u should be d 1,heatherrr!!!! well at least lots of us here (ur fans) agreed u’re our number one.!
anyway.. i’ve always watched ANTM and never misses any cycle.. but now, i really dun feel like watching it ANYMORE. damn it , i’m reallyyyyyyyyyyy bummped… u shud win!!!

the JUDGES suck ass… they know sh*t about talent and personality! HEather’s more than just a beautiful face. i hope all the Judges read all this comments about you,heather. they should have known that they’ve made a HUGE damn mistake.they should PUT U BACK ON THE SHOW. and i know and BELIEVE for sure, u’ll win!!! damn it.. i AM bumped.ANTM my ass..

Does anyone know how I might be able to get in contact with Heather? She hasn’t logged into her myspace since mid February. I would like to interview her for a book that I’m writing about Asperger’s as I feel she is such a positive role model for people with the condition. I really hope someone can help, thanks!

Hey Heather, I still wish you’d won Top Model but I wanted to let you know that you are an inspiration to me. I can come off as a little awkward and you being on the show represented us quirky people in a positive way which meant a lot to me. You are also a great role model to me!
