Demelza Reveley is Australia’s Next Top Model
Demelza Reveley, a 5′10″ sixteen year old brunette, blue-eyed beauty from Wollongong, Australia was named Australia’s Next Top Model in the live finale that aired yesterday. Australia selects their winner in a live show, where the judges, key players in the contract of the winner, and the votes of the audience at home, come together in a formula that names the winner.
As part of her prize pack, Demelza is now the face of Napoleon Perdis and will be in a spread in Australian Vogue, and will have a chance to go to New York and seek international representation. Considering the success of Cycle 3’s winner Alice Burdeu, I bet Demelza has high hopes for her future in the fashion industry. Demelza had no previous modeling experience before the show, but constantly wowed the judges wither her strong photographs.
Demelza was one of the most controversial models to be on AusNTM in a long time. She received attention for “bullying” the other contestants throughout the show and the judges were very concerned that her weight (60 kg/132 lbs) was not up to catwalk standards. That didn’t affect the votes, and Demelza was crowned the winner.
Below is the video of Demelza winning! I love Alex Perry–he’s definitely my favorite judge!
Congrats to Demelza.
If you don’t live in Australia, the entire season is available on Youtube.

i don’t think she deserves to win. she bullyed the other contestant, Anamela and i think that if you showcase a bully winning a competitions or prevailing, it will not teach kids who are watching that their behavior will not be rewarded. they will think they can get away with it. after all, i thought being a top model was more than just looks and skills, i thought ti was personality too and hers seemed rotten.

Demelza’s photos showed only that she has one look, and a very bland one at that. Alex was the far superior model. So, in that respect, AusNTM is very much taking its cues from ANTM. In an interview following her win, Demelza was very insulting towards Alex, showing that she learned only one thing: lip service when necessary, but once you’ve won, who cares? She behaved appallingly throughout the entire show, and was rewarded for her superficial appeal. I hope her true colors mark her as a difficult person to work with in the industry and her career is short-lived in comparison to Alex’s (whom she said, “should be worried. She’s 21 and time is running out for her.” Her parents should be ashamed at how they raised her. If Alex Perry, Charlotte and Kirstie hadn’t voted for Alex, I’d be done with this show. The fact that Jodhi Meares backed out at the last minute makes her a coward not for her so-called stage fright, but because she knew that if she voted for Demelza (her obvious favorite throughout the entire show), that she’d be condemned for supporting a bully. Good on you, Alex, and I hope you catwalk Demelza into the ground.

could you stop whining? it’s damn reality show. If Alex was meant to be successful, she will be. The outcome of a reality show would not change the course of her destiny.

You guys are falling prey to the Tyra Banks mentality which believes that Top models need to be “role models”. It’s AusNTM not Aussie’s next top role model. This failed mentality is the reason why ANTM hasn’t produced any top models. Tyra is too busy looking for girls with inspirational stories.
While I don’t condone the behavior of that Demelza girl, I don’t think character should mix with finding a top model. If you want good character, re-runs of Ms. America will be airing any time soon. You can watch that for inspirational girls. If finding a top model is all about character, Naomi Campbell would have never been supermodel.

Yeah, she may have had a rotten attitude but the girl was 16! I was a terror at 16 too. Eventually she’ll be forced to grow out of it.
