CNTM 3.04 “Model Meltdown” Recap

Last week on Canada’s Next Top Model, the girls had a surprise photo shoot in the Bahamas. Except for Maryam, who had passport issues. She doesn’t get sent home though, instead, the forgettable Ebonie does. Will Maryam survive this week as well? Tune in below to find out!

Everyone is pissed Maryam got to stay and Rebeccah has a break down. The upside of her break down? We discover her dad is adorable! The girls lesson this week is about presence and they get this lesson from Irina Lazareanu! How did CNTM score Irina?! I know she’s Canadian, but wow. That’s awesome. Can they get Coco, Daria and Jessica next?!

After telling Mike Ruiz why they deserve to win, we get an awesome montage of excuses – social anxiety, dyslexia, English being a second language, you name it, it’s there! While I love Nikita’s look, her constant excuses are driving me bonkers! STFU Nikita! Even if her disorders are legit, she shouldn’t be using them as a trump card every ten seconds. Heather seems to be approaching the whole “I have an anxiety disorder” thing with so much more class.

The girls then do a commercial reading in a burlap sack and struggle over words like atelier, several designer names and Irina’s last name, Lazareanu. The butchering of the designer names blew my mind. Heather was the surprise of the night and she’s quickly becoming my favorite!

The girls get a skin x-ray and learn about the different challenges they face based on their skin type and how to take care of their skin. It’s a practical lesson for all models – so much so that the product placement doesn’t bother me one bit. The skin lesson leads right into the photo shoot, which is a beauty shot. With their mouths duct-tapes shut! This is going to be such a challenge in terms of expressing emotion.

Rebeccah has a break down after her photo shoot and disappears when the girls return to their house. I don’t think she’s going to last much longer. She decides to push through and then it’s on to elimination!

At panel, Maryam, Nikita, Heather, Meaghan rock; Tara and Linsay are weak; and Rebeccah brings something they’ve seen before. I think Tara is going home because she’s so unremarkable, but she hardly got any screen time. Her elimination would almost seem wasteful because of that. In the end, Tara does get eliminated and I’m completely not surprised. I’ve been expecting this since last week.
