I love how positive Jay is about everything, even smizing, which I think he’s not a fan of. He’s happy and surprised with the winner and that the finale this time is a surprise. I can’t wait to see it!

Jade just moved to Los Angeles and is trying to break into the film business. She also has a realistic take on the current season of Top Model: “It’s kind of sad because she’s giving false hope to young girls. Because in this harsh reality of the fashion world, let’s face it, being 5′6″…it’s not going to happen.”

Rachael Schlingmann and Laura Kirkpatrick were two of the shorties selected to compete in the first ever under 5′7″ cycle! Rae, a 21-year-old from Rochester. Minnesota, talks about how she got involved in modeling, how she felt about being cast on Top Model, and more.

She wasn’t too excited for this opportunity, as she knew it would come with challenges and sacrifices:

I felt ambivalent [about making the show]– excited for the opportunity I was being given to gain valuable experience in the industry, but also apprehensive because of the sacrifices I knew it would require of me.

Laura, a farm girl from Kentucky, talked about her modeling dreams, growing up on a farm and more. She was a bit nervous about how she is going to come across on camera, but did the best she could:

I’m a little nervous, when you film 24/7 you know they had to catch something embarrassing. I believe I represented Kentucky proudly, though. I didn’t want them to think any stereotypes of Kentucky. They loved my accent; they called it the gentleman’s language because they said Kentucky people were so kind. Being a southern girl you know I’m proud of my God.

The girls seem quite different. It will be interesting to see how they get along. I hope a few more girls do pre-show interviews. Cycle 12 saw nearly every contestant do one!

Lisa is hilarious and I’m impressed at how hard she’s worked at making it in music. That being said, I’m really not a fan of her music at all. I can’t help but wonder if she’s taking herself seriously or not.

This is what she said about why she and Elyse are no longer friends:

I invited her to come to a party my then boyfriend (hubby) was taking me to. At said party, Chris and I discussed with Elyse how I was going to try to get the fuck out of my wilhelmina contract. Chris was appalled at how my career was being run, and knew I was in a bad deal. We discussed little things, how I planned to get out of my contract, how I was looking for new management, even what I was paid on the Surreal Life. Before we left the party, we made sure we got Elyse a gift bag, containing some nice crap, and I-river(wanna be I-pod) etc. A few days later Elyse decided to write a blog. In it she revealed how much I was paid for The Surreal Life, and even went as far to act completely ungrateful and snotty about the party we took her to and the free stuff we managed to get her. My feelings were incredibly hurt. I couldnt believe such personal information had been outed by someone I had trusted and considered a friend.

Elyse removed the salary from the blog post, but they have not spoken since.

It’s a very revealing and informative interview and tells a lot about Cycle One of America’s Next Top Model. She talks about why she got her GED, what her breast implants are, her favorite books, the best part about being moderately famous and more.

Alexis Arquette also appears in the episode, along with a female-to-male transgender and a transgender mayor. The segment was inspired by Chaz Bono’s decision to come out as a transgendered person. Alexis is very articulate and compassionate on television and this entire episode is respectful and informative. I’m impressed, Larry King.

Isis appears around 11:25. She talks about why she doesn’t use the term transgender, what it was like to be transitioning on national television, her procedure and the healing process and more.

Isis seems so happy and content right now. This is a great interview and I’m glad her surgery is complete and she can focus on the next step in her life.

What do you think of this very un-fashion approach to ANTM? Short girls, reality television stars – it sounds as thought Tyra has truly embraced what Top Model has become. That or she’s delusional. What do you think?

Sarah sat down with the Daily Northwestern to briefly chat about her music career. She’s got a bizarre side gig, the drawbacks of being a reality-tv-star-turn-musician, her latest work and more. As for what ANTM has done for her career, it has both positive points and negative ones?

The publicity is great. But on a negative standpoint, I have to work even harder as a songwriter to prove myself because a lot people think, “Oh, she was on ‘Top Model,’ she’s doing music now, yeah right.” Then they listen to my record and come see me live, and they realize this is for real.

Kim talks about how she transitioned from modeling into political commentary, Obama’s stance on gay marriage and gay rights, the reaction of the LGBTQ community to her new, more feminine look, her future plans and more. We can expect to see more of Kim, as she has great plans for herself.

As of right now, my dream project would be to host, write, and produce a political talk show that both brought the news to the viewer and brought many different opinions and had different pundits chiming in, and could be a compelling show in terms of opinions, but also would be fair and informational.
