Jay Manuel’s prettiness, cause he’s so pretty. And Tyra Bank’s is just drag. She’s just larger, larger than life. So I’m just competing with myself, basically.”

They didn’t address rumors that Miss J wasn’t returning to the show for the fourteenth cycle. If he doesn’t, who will they get to replace him? Will Mr. Jay finally join the panel? Or will they bring in someone completely new?

“I’m a dad,” he told Tyra. J and his ex-boyfriend Alex both acted as sperm donors and both are equally active in the child’s life.

“A French lesbian had asked if we would be sperm donors,” he said. “So we thought, ‘OK, you want me to do you?’ And she was like, ‘Ooooh, I’m not that talented.’ So I said, ‘Okay fine.’ So we did a little test tube.”

J acted like any proud father, raving about how smart and sensitive his son is. He remained adamant about protecting the child’s privacy and didn’t divulge his name.

Not much is known about the role or the character, but she’ll start appearing on the show on January 5th and her character has a mysterious past with Simon Frazier.

This isn’t the first time Paulina’s dabbled in acting. She’s had roles in movies and television shows for years. Her last acting gig was the little-known 2004 movie Knots, which co-starred John Stamos.

Nigel argues that it’s ultimately about trust for any relationship:

Ultimately, if you don’t trust your partner, you can’t trust them to know what they’re doing. In my business, I’m always with beautiful women, I’m out traveling the world, and it’s a lot of time apart. If she didn’t trust me, she wouldn’t know that I loved her and believe it. That would sow the seeds of doubt, and that’s what destroys relationships ultimately.

He alludes to Paulina’s firing, but nothing explicit is asked about it. He does say the following:

There are definitely clashes of personality. I think it’s designed for that and it’s certainly not always amicable. But that said, I think at the end of the day, we are all professionals and we all deal with our emotions in different ways. We have had major clashes in the past where people have got very upset but it’s not that often. I try not to get involved. It’s all part and parcel of show business and the fashion industry. Certainly we have our fair share of divas on the show.

His take on NZNTM is nice to hear. He doesn’t say anything to surprising and it
s very complimentary of the show and it’s contestants, but I like it when they go beyond the typical ANTM sound bites. You can read the whole article here.

While no longer being wanted is never fun, she became open to and excited by being a full-time mother again and being around for her children and husband in a way that Top Model didn’t allow:

When I was fired from “America’s Next Top Model” this past spring, two things hit me simultaneously: the heavy thud of realization that I am not wanted, not liked, not worth my salt, not loved–yes, I know this sounds a little over-the-top, but I have the tendency to run with the negatives–and the lightening of a burden lifted; I would no longer have to worry about missing my children’s recitals, date nights with my husband, and all that family life has to offer.

I have no idea if Paulina is going to become a regular correspondent for the Huffington Post (a lot of people, including ANTM alum Kim Stolx are) or if this post was a one time deal. Regardless, it was nice to hear Paulina’s side of the story after her anger had subsided. You can read her full post here.

“The current state of the economy has forced shows to make major budget cuts industry wide; and America’s Next Top Model is not immune to these financially challenging times. We’ve had to make significant cuts in every area of the production and, unfortunately, Paulina was a casualty of these cuts. Tyra, who pursued Paulina to join the show as a judge multiple times, was incredibly saddened by the decision the show was forced to make. We really enjoyed working with Paulina, and we wish her all the best in her future endeavors.”

What I’m waiting for is a statement from Tyra. Based on this statement, it sounds as though there will not be a replacement for Paulina in Cycle 13. Otherwise claiming she was a casualty of the recession is complete bull.
