Oxygen Celebrates the Launch of America’s Next Top Model

January 13, 2009 by Erin Balser

Last year, Oxygen acquired the exclusive cable rights to our favorite reality show, America’s Next Top Model. On January 18th, they are premiering America’s Next Top Model Obsessed, which will be a regular marathon of past ANTM seasons, complete with never-before-seen footage, interviews and more.

The promotional campaign will include several blasts from the past, including CariDee English (Winner, Season 7), Jaslene Gonzalez (Winner, Season 8), Saliesha Stowers (Winner, Season 9), Bianca Golden (Season 9), and Lisa D’Amato (Season 5).

On January 13, Oxygen held a launch party at Gotham Hall in New York City for this new endeavor. The festivities brought out loads of former ANTMers, including Jael Strauss (Cycle 8), Yoanna House (Winner, Cycle 2), Saleisha Stowers (Winner, Cycle 9), Jaslene Gonzalez (Winner, Cycle 8), Bre Scullark (Cycle 5), Dani Evans (Winner, Cycle 6), Rebecca Epley (Cycle 4), Whitney Thompson (Winner, Cycle 10), judges Nigel Barker and J Alexander, Tyra Banks, and a whole slew of stars.

Jael Strauss is a MySpace Thug

July 19, 2008 by Erin Balser

Jael Strauss from Cycle 8 of America’s Next Top Model appears in this humorous music video titled “MySpace Thug.” She plays a couple of different characters in it–see if you can spot them all. Also in the video are Dusty Roze, Ker’in Hayden, Natalie Reid, Cocoa Shanelle, and PDFLO.

Warning: it’s pretty awful, in a hilarious way.

Interview with Jael Strauss

April 19, 2007 by Ingrid

BuddyTV has their weekly interview with the eliminated contestant up at their site, and this week it’s Jael Strauss.

BuddyTV: What were you doing before America’s Next Top Model, and what inspired you to try out for the show?

Jael: Well before I was on America’s Next Top Model I was managing bands in Hollywood and doing promotions for bands and stuff in Detroit. And I decided to try out for the show because I got scouted on my MySpace from one of the casting directors. And I figured I should just, you know, give it a try. People have been telling me I should be on the show for a long time so I figured, why not?

Were you always a big fan of the show?

I’m really not a television person honestly. But I have seen the show before and I remember watching the show and thinking, “I can do that, that’s easy.” And after having been on the show, I feel like a fool for ever thinking that! (Laughs)

Have you ever been to Sydney, Australia before and what was that experience like for you?

Sydney, Australia was awesome and amazing. I can’t wait to go back there. I’ve never been overseas before, like this show took me to Sydney, and I’m so fortunate to have made it that far. I can’t wait to go back.

What did you think about the CoverGirl commercial?

I think that I made my best attempt to do the CoverGirl commercial. I don’t know. I felt a little bit out of character obviously, and you know, I gave it a good try. I feel that I’m not really the stereotypical bubbly CoverGirl kind of girl. You know, I didn’t pull it off, but no regrets.
