AusNTM 5.08 ” Tears & Emotion” Recap

Last week on Australia’s Next Top Model, the girls learned the importance of having presence and how to deal with the media. They also learned about the power of charity and Lola was sent home. Will this week be as action packed as last? Tune in below to find out!

Today it’s all about drama, as the girls get acting lessons from profs at the best theatre school in Australia. They make them do some funny exercises, like say “pussypussypussypussy” in each other’s faces and pretend their friend died. After the challenge, the girls learn they get to audition for a real television commercial. It’s kind of fun flipping between the girls who are auditioning and those waiting in the green room making fun of them. Most everyone is awkward, but Tahnee is clearly the best.
I really don;t know who I want to win. Tahnee is clearly the judges favorite and my money is on her, but I don’t get her. She’s definitely not high fashion. Adele looks too much like Alice Burdeu, Cassi is too awkward, Franky is too commercial. I’m banking on a Clare/Tahnee final two, with Tahnee winning the commercial votes and the audience vote and Clare getting Alex Perry’s vote. What do you think?
The director of the commercial agrees that Tahnee was the best and she wins the lead role. Franky and Clare win supporting roles. The commercial is cheesy and hilarious, I’m really excited to see the final commercial!
The photo shoot combines Ford with style icons from different decades. Before the shoot starts, Sarah reveals that the international destination this cycle will be London. Each girl is given a style icon. Franky is Grace Jones and she has no idea who she is. Tahnee got Elizabeth Taylor and she had no idea who she was. Clare got Twiggy, which is going to be tough for her. Cassi gets Victoria Beckham and she’s stoked. Adele is Greta Garbo and she doesn’t know who she is. What’s wrong with these girls? Seriously. You’re in fashion. Go learn something.
Adele and Cassi struggled, Clare was okay and Tahnee and Franky were the stars of the day. At panel, Clare, Franky and Tahnee impress while Adele and Cassi are the weak ones this week. Clare gets the first call-out for her versatility and Franky is sent home because even though she brought it this week, it just wasn’t enough.
While I wasn’t sorry to see Franky go, she didn’t do the worst this week. Also, it seems as though Sarah is on a crusade like Tyra. I get this nagging feeling that the final two are going to be Tahnee (who will be told immediately to lose weight) and Cassi (bad attitude/immature). Clare would be the best pick but Sarah doesn’t seem to care for her and she also seems to have it in for Adele. I find it sad that Alex Perry seems to be the only one on the panel with any sense.
I totally agree! If I had my way, it would be a Clare/Adele final two, with Clare winning. Sarah is totally on a mission. I think she really wants to “tame” Cassi and wants Tahnee to win to show girls that “real” girls can model. Tahnee is beautiful, but isn’t going to get work at her weight. plus, she’s short- 5′8″ according to the AusNTM website. it’s weird neither of these things have been mentioned yet. I’m expecting Alex to bring it up soon.
Adele was clearly the worst, but I was in no way surprised to see Franky in the bottom, there has just been something missing from her photographs and I can’t decide what it is.
I love Cassi!
Tahnee is definitely beautiful but she is kind of a bitch. Scratch that, they are all kind of bitches, except maybe Adele, but she doesn’t even have much of a personality. Tahnee is always hit or miss for me, I can’t decide if I like her or not. My opinion changes week to week.
What is this crusade that you guys think Sarah is on?
I never really saw Tahnee as a “real girl” but all of the girls this cycle seem short. Check out the girls on Canada’s Next Top Model, they all look tall.
I was disappointed they did not show Cassi’s reaction to finding her stuffed animal in the pool!
I have to say, I look forward to Australia’s Next Top Model every year because the girls are usually better and I like that everything doesn’t need to be blurred or bleeped out, but this years series has been pretty boring. It looks like Canada’s Next Top Model will be the best one of the year in comparison with America’s Next Top Model and Australia’s Next Top Model. Canada showed up with the most attractive girls this year, and they cut out all the ugos in the first three episodes. Plus, Jay is a much better host than Tyra or Sarah, when he talks it doesn’t feel rehearsed or fake.
P.S. Demelza rocked it out last year! That girl was breathtakingly beautiful! And that drama about teasing was blown WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY out of proportion!!! Alamela used it to her advantage though, I’ll give her that credit, the girl knows how to make lemonade out of anything!
Anonymoose – I just think Sarah is looking for a “message” winner, like Tyra does, and isn’t objectively looking at who the best model is.
If they were looking for a “message” winner, they would have addressed her Tahnee’s “weight issues” so that when she wins they can say “she won in spite of being “overweight”. They would want to make it an ongoing issue. Besides, the other judges have to agree for the votes, she can’t protect someone all on her own! They have worked on Cassi’s anger issues, but I really don’t think she will end up winning. I could be wrong, but I think she will make it to the top three, at minimum, with Adele going home next week.
I can see Tahnee winning for the exact opposite reason – she’s a “healthy” weight and a “regular” girl and therefore, is a great role model. Sarah often speaks publicly about how models are too thin. Remember her intervention with Mikarla? Tahnee made the Alex Perry show even after Alex’s concern about her not fitting in with the other models. I could be taking Sarah’s favoritism too far, as Tahnee is clearly her favorite.
The other faves are clear too – Charlotte loves Cassi and Alex loves Adele. You’re right – it is a group decision – so it’s going to be interesting to see who ends up on top! I think Tahnee is currently the front runner, but not by much!
