ANTM Cycle 13 and 14 Approved!

America’s Next Top Model was one of six shows the CW renewed for next year today. Lucky fans can look forward to another season of Gossip Girl, Smallville, 90210, and One Tree Hill and two more cycles of ANTM!

CW is renewing these shows because they are dedicated to building their brand around their core audience of young women. America’s Next Top Model is still a huge ratings winner for the CW. It’s their highest rated show and it usually wins its timeslot with women 18-49, which is a very coveted demographic.
“As we continue to build The CW Network as a destination for young women, these six shows have clearly contributed to strengthening our schedule and our brand identity,” said Dawn Ostroff, President, Entertainment, The CW. “By securing these signature hits for next season, we’re furthering our commitment to deliver high-quality, original programming to our viewers, advertisers and affiliates.”
Cycle 13 is already casting. They’re mixing it up this time and looking for girls 5′7″ and under. Who knows what will be in store for Cycle 14?
Cycle 12 of ANTM premieres next week, March 4, at 8pm!

I think we can all agree Top model isn’t about creating models anymore, it’s just a guilty pleasure for almost everyone now. It’s obvious CW doesn’t want the show to go, judging by their ratings, they are doomed if they let the show go. I mean, “looking for girls 5′7 and under?, talk about exploitation.
You know there is a such thing as petite models, and there is nothing wrong with top model giving these ladies a chance as well.I see these comments as being quite negative.
I think there can be petite models, but I don’t think they’ll cast them for how good they are but how short they are and how much attitude they have. I could be wrong.
I’m bummed. I’m 5′10″ and was all set to try out for this season. It seems unfair not to let taller girls try out this time around. Why not just let shorter girls try out, too?
I think you should give the short models a chance. Short or tall i think everybody should be abe to follow thier dreams. Who says because ur short u cant model? Its not fair. So wat they are giving them a chance its a great opportunity for everybody.
Should not underestimate the shortness….big things come in small packages.
Jessica, think about what you’re saying. This is Cycle 13!!!!!!!!!!! The first time they are letting shorter girls try out. How dare you be so selfish as to throw a hissy fit about you not being able to try out this time. what happened to cycle 12? Why couldn’t you try out for that one? Get over yourself! It’s high time that shorter girls get credit for something their good at even if they don’t fit the exact criteria! GO SHORT GIRLS!!!!!

Why are so many tall girls so upset? Tyra has made ANTM go on for 12 cycles and they have always had tall girls…so theres definately been valid oppurtunity for them. And besides if a tall model has what it takes, they can send in the pics to Elite Models, Ford Models, or any other modeling agency at anytime. I wouldn’t be able to do that. LOL Being a shorty like myself, has open a door for me. I’ve always wanted to audition, and now I have the chance. All I gotta say is, THANX Tyra!!!
i feel that everyone should follow their dreams all the cycle before cycle 13 all had tall girls of course but now lets give shorts girls a try this time lets keep it postive and i want to be a role model for young and short and tall and plus size girls thanks alot top model please come to alabama more often thanks alot
thank you tyra for giving us short ones a chance to be on top!!! i was so bummed last time when casting came to the mall across the street from my work (not to mention on my lunch break), and i was too short! i am 5′5″ and so this cycle i can finally audition!!!! for all of you tall girls that are down about this time around; there have been 12 cycles for ladies with height, i would imagine there will be plenty more. i may be a bit shorter than most high fashion/runway models, but im a stunning girl capable of so much!! it means alot to FINALLY have the opportunity!!! watch for me! *wink
I think this cycle is a great oppurtunity for so many shorter girls like myself! i am only 5,2 and i was estatic to hear bout this cycle 13!..yet im not 18 yet =( i turn 18 in April and I was ready to be on the next flight this weekend for this oppurtunity. So to all the shorties GOOD LUCK..we are feirce and we need to show everybody what we are working with! All the tall woman complaining, suck it up things happen in life..and FYI if you are over the height of 5,7 you can still attend open calls, you might have a lil sumthin they like. I PRAY this continues next cycle cause best believe I will be auditioning!

Am happy for the short girls but i wish tall girls was able to audition too
I’m with Jessica and Sarah. Tomorrow is my 18th bday and i was really looking 4ward 2 trying out 2. I think they should let tall girls try out along with the short girls. I think short girls can be just as fierce too but I think the tall girls should b able 2 compete this year. It’s REALLY not fair..
i agree ur height should have never been a requirement im 5 ft 1 and want to as soon as i turn 18 but itd be cycle 14 and who knows if ill be able to or if theyll go back to tall girls only
I totally agree with short girls being given the opportunity to participate. Never the less, how likely is it that the girls who don’t make it to the final 3 rounds will recieve as many modeling opportunities after the show as the other contestants from earlier seasons. Again, I’m all for the short girls having equal opportunity. I just ultimately feel that the show should’ve simply been opened up to shorter girls as wel.. The truth is fashion sales on tall girls…if you honestly face the facts, one can easily see that short simply doesn’t sale in such a dog eat dog fashion industry!! Hope i didnt step on any toes
I auditioned yesterday, I am 5′4″ So I am thrilled that they finally let girls 5′7″ and under show the world that just because we are “short” we could model as well. Trust me, ther were girls taller than 5′7″ at the casting call yesterday, and they were not turned away because of height. If you read the paperwork it states in there that they will/can make exceptions for someone who is over 5′7″. ANTM has been 5′7″ and up for 12 cycles, this is also my dream so don’t be so greedy, I have waited this long and I have been old enough for quite sometime so you girls over 5′7″ can wait until next cycle, calm down and stop being selfish.
I don’t appreciate some of the comments!!!! I will have you know, that I have auditioned several times at open casting. Everytime I hear “you’re beautiful, you take amazing pictures, but…….” I’m 5′2″ barelly. I think I’ve got what it takes and who are any of you to tell Me otherwise. Hey Jessica… you say “unfair” ANTM has gone through 12 cycles discriminating short girls. I think tall girls can sit out for ONE session.
so i went to the casting in dallas,TX this past wknd and it was BS. They didnt even talk to most of us and all the girls they picked were 5′6-5′7. I was soo pissed. The casting was very misleading saying shes looking for short girls. Im sorry but 5′7 is not that short esp when you add the heels too.
i wanted to try out for cycle 13 but was way to late so i hope 14 accepts short girls cuz im only 5′ 4″
wooo-i’m so happy!!! now i can try out. forget those who complain and there is nothing to complain about. there are short models-i’m not one of them but- if you don’t like the show then don’t watch it!

uhmmmm to all of you guys are saying give the short girls a chance… news flash- this is a modeling competition. models are tall. end of story. you can chase your dreams all you want, but being 5′7 or shorter simply is not going to work out for you. one person isn’t going to change the entire industry. in major cities top agencies will not sign a model who is shorter than 5′8. its just the reality of it. yes there may be some petite models but they arent in demand like the tall ones

i think that height doesnt matter as long as you have the talent and really want to be a model. i am 5′8 and i have no problem with cycle 13 being about the short girls because they need an oppurtunity also. i was going to try out for cylce 13 but o well no need to be mad. there are so many oppurtunities for tall girls and not for short girls. so i hope the short girls rock cycle 13!!
They should let both try out. Whoever said that “they will cast based on how short they are and how much attitude they have” is right. RIGHT! The shorter, the better. I feel it would be better for the drama of the show if they have both tall and short girls. It would create a lot of drama, sense the shorter girls would have a lot to prove.. But elite models…how many of them are short? Anywhere for that matter. Most short models I know of, despite the obvious famous Kate Moss, and some others, well the shorter models are usually doing the “sexy” modeling…not high fashion and walking the runways. Plus, you have to be stick thin to walk the runway, and most short girls have curves that tall girls just do not have. They naturally mostly have bigger butts or chests, that most tall girls do not. These short girls will have to fit the clothes, and the clothes are usually a standard size. …this is why I believe that either ANTM is trying to revolutionize the modeling industry, or just doesn’t care who wins as long as the season is filled with jaw-dropping drama.
This conversation about height sounds absurd. What you people refer to as short is actually most common, normal, if you will. How often do you walk outside and see girls that are 5′9″ and over? Probably only in places where they congregate because of their height. The majority of women don’t tower over the average man. . . the ones who do stand out because it’s not typical.
First of all, Normal and Most common?? who the hell has ever refered to any model as normal? Short people definatley make for good t.v. so i see why this will be good for reviews or whatever but come on, you NEVER hear a tall girl say “i wish i was short” you always here the short ones wishing they were tall.
Tall is always going to be in. Why do you think they make 4 and 6″ heels? … so you can think you are tall!

And if your a super model ( you know, over 5′7″ and can strut your stuff) there is no need for an “average man”. You can get who ever the hell you want… 6foot and up i see no towering there.
This is just going to create a problem for the poor girl that wins this cycle. Good luck booking jobs!

That is a scam- I got one too, paid to reply and got a virus. Audition next season like everyone else, if you have what it takes they’ll pick you. I think cycle 13 should have been for girls who are between 5′9 and 5′4. Because the standard model is 5′9. I think they needed a minimum so insidents like NYC wouldn’t have happend. Also in reality you wouldn’t see 5′3 and under walking the runway with 5′10 girls. It dosen’t mean they aren’t fierce or gorgeous, they could do print work, but not runway. That is why they picked mostly girls who are 5′6 and 5′7.

I hope they do a plus size cycle soon b/c that would definitely raise my chances of making it lol; I mean if they did a short one, why not do one for plus sizes too? I believe the average model size measurements are 34, 24, 34 and im definitely 36,29,41. i have been changing my health habits but i know ill never be that small lol. im ALL for cycle 15 being plus sized
wow some of you really dont know the world today anything can happen and for your info there has been models that walked a runway that were under 5″6″ just not big yet and i think anything can happen for short women these days stop being haters the world is changing but i do hope can do plus size women im not a plus size but i have lots of friends who are soo pretty and they are plus size but when is cycle 14 try outs and were at someone please let me know thanks
“Alex”—nice try but they started filming cycle 13 back in April. It’s premiering September 9th–so how exactly would they manage to do an entire season plus editing, etc. by then?
Also, I don’t think it’s right that girls over 5′7 are throwing a fit and referring to cycle 14 as discrimination. What would you call the other 13 cycles? Personally, I think they should just leave it open to girls of any height, and not set a limit one way or the other.
First of all i see alot of hatin going on .. 1st of all i dont think antm should stop because its giving girls around the world the oppurtunity to live up to there dreams some dont make it but at least they get the chance to see what its like …..2 i think they should have a couple more season with short people because we seen to much of the tall ones and we dont really hear about them that much so maybe the shorteez can bring some more publicity and so short people can feel the expericence and dont give up hope in there dream maybe they can even one day have an competition between short and tall people && that is one i will love to join in for competition ….. but like they say ( IT AINT FOR EVERYBODY)
