ANTM Cycle 11 Contestants React to Isis

August 28, 2008 by Erin Balser

CelebTV had an exclusive look into how the other contestants react to Isis when they find out that she’s transgendered and, frankly, it’s not pretty.

I know they are probably selecting the more outrageous clips to spike interest in the show, but it’s a shame to see so many young girls so ignorant about such issues. With every new piece of information, I’m more impressed by Isis’s poise and confidence. It takes guts to be so honest and open about your identity in such a public forum. I really want her to do well in the competition and shut up all the nay sayers.

I can’t embed the video, but you can see it for yourself here.

Ugh, I hope she doesn’t go far in the competition. You know why? Because she’s UGLY!!

  2. Ashley says:

I’m not at all bothered by her. However, there’s not a chance in hell she’s going to win – Cover Girl would NEVER go for it. EVER.

  3. Matthew says:

Well I kinda expected that, but I wish her all the best but I agree with you Ashley, If she wins, I don’t know how far she would go, But we’ll see. Poor girl though. I’m beginning to think this is not a good idea, how can she handle that much hatred, Well there’s nothing they can do other than flap their mouths. Let them keep flapping. If she’s as good as i’ve been hearing she is, they’d probably hate her for something else.

  4. Erin says:

I’m not surprised either, I’m just disappointed. You’re right though, Matthew, if she is good, they’ll totally hate on her for something else.

  5. Anonymous says:

I’m not surprised. The real reason she was cast is because she will spark interest for the show and cause a controversy… Which means rating = up UP and UP! I feel bad for her though.

  6. Jane says:

Covergirl wouldn’t buy it. She may take good pictures or not, she probably won’t go far. And I feel bad for he because she is going to take a beating. That can’t be good for her.

  7. lucas camargo says:

what is the problem that she’s ugly?
lots of top models are ugly so please c’mon and wake up for the real life dear.

isis can win this competition? YEAH she can and she will.

  8. Disappointed says:

I feel this is wrong. If I can’t try out because I am 2 inches too short why can a man try out. He is still a man. He has xy chromosomes and nothing will change that. Also he has not even had his surgery yet. I just don’t think that it is fair. He is a man and nothing will ever change that.

  9. Jazzyboo says:

Reality is most company like Mac Covergirl and others like such things that draws attention and new and fresh so we cant just say Covergirl will not take her because if shes on the show which is sponsered by Covergirl guess what… then they know about it and are willing to see what happens. Basically its all in then air and only time and skills can determine who will win not her private parts or your openions of whether she is a male, female, xy, abc chromo ect because she is placed in the challenge for a reason and by people who have the right to make such decisions. Plus look who is judgeing them “Ms. Jay” um I dont hear you bitcin about a drag queen judging on how to be or walk like a girl do i??????? Get it together and stop with the hateing and just see what happen already.

  10. disappointed says:

His skills are not the point. He is a man. It is not ok for a man to compete aganist woman. Who cares if one of the judges is gay or a dragqueen. The judge is not competing. It is not fair to real woman. Simple as that. Also this is breaking the rules that are in the requirments for ANTM. It states in the rules that you have to be female between 18 and 27 at the time of the application. You can see this on line 6 here http://cwtv.com/images/topmodel/antm_cycle12_eligibility.pdf. Sorry but your chromosomes determine your sex. He is a man by birth and that is his sex. If they bend the rules for him then they need to start bending the rules for everybody.

  11. Not disappointed says:

Isis identifies as a woman and she is as much a woman as anyone else. But really, there is no advantage to being a transgender on ANTM. It’s about how well you model. I am glad that ANTM is promoting equality. (Height is a different matter, models are supposed to be tall.)

  12. Jazzyboo says:

Well we can read the rules all day but guess what she is still in the running so what do you think. If it was really breaking the rules clearly she wouldnt have made it this far sweetheart. As long as she identifies as a woman and can give a great show guess what she is and will still be in the running to be Americas next top model. One thing thats amazing about the show is that it is base on their skills and walks and knowledge and fierceness only and not on your openion or votes so continue hating because it means nothing and she is still on the show and you are not. Enjoy!

  13. disappointed says:

I really have nothing aganist Isis. I don’t know him. I am just saying that if they bend the rules for him that they need to bend the rules for others too. You are attacking me personally because I don’t agree with what is going on. I don’t think it is fair to put a man in a contest with woman. It does not mean I don’t like Isis. I just feel that this is not the place for him. They should make a reality show for his type. Now there is no reason to attack me. I did not attack you.

  14. Jazzyboo says:

Honey no one is trying to attack you… I dont even know you. I am simply stating fact that your opinion is your opinion but clearly she is still on the show for a reason and if it was breaking the rules soooo badly and unfairly there is no way she would be in the model house now training and competeing to be ANTM. She would have been one of the other 15+ “girls” who had to go back home. So the fact is Tyra and the Executive directors understand her situation and is willing to still have her in the running. Thats the facts everything else is girl, boy, unfairness, xy chrom, male opinions ect. I can understand how unfair it can be to a girl who doesnt see the whole picture and just see a boy but you have to be in that situation (trans, gay, les, or just openminded and understandable ect) to truly understand why she is on the show today and wasnt denied access because of what most people would say about fairness.

  15. disappointed says:

The point I am trying to make is if they start bending the rules for one person then they have to for others. That is the bottom line. On top of that I feel that Tyra is using Isis for ratings. That is the sad part.

  16. Jazzyboo says:

I can see where you are coming from with the rating situation and i care less for anyone exploiting another person for their personal gain. Lets face it Gay, les, bi, trannys, ect are the most fashionista people out there and is all about every part of fashion including modeling so ANTM will definitly get the ratings but is it right??? It might be necessary to show America reality in their face, so if Isis is willing to stand proud it might work. I feel that this can be a really touchy situation if Isis isnt strong enough to bare the hardcore drama the girls can/might give her. Only time, skills, faith, and determination will tell if she is model type. I love Hannah, McKey and Lauren Brie and think 1 might win but I like Isis and will definitly defend her situation to the people who dont understand or careless to try and understand where its coming from. Simple education is all it is. :-)

  18. NotaModel says:

They added Isis to this season to create an atmosphere in the House that would bring a more controversial show, more drama, and even more bitchiness amongst the ladies than they normally have.

  19. NotaModel says:

She’ll be the token whipping post and the hated one among the girls, then they’ll all have a phony group hug when she gets bounced.

  20. Ashlee says:

Oh no. I totally agree with “dissapointed” No matter how good of a model Isis may be, s/he is still a man – when he gets the surgery done, then we can discuss it, but until then, she is a actually a man & therefore should be banned from the competition. As much as I love Tyra, she should get kicked for even thinking this was a good idea – she’s breaking her own rules, and to try and pull people away from seeing that, she tries the sympathy / lets get ratings card. Anyway, yeah, I can see why the other girls are a little pissed about it – if they let Isis on the show because he dresses like a woman & thinks hes a woman, doesn’t that mean they should have to allow a girl who’s four foot eleven to enter, if she thinks and acts like she’s five foot ten? I think not. Isis should be gone, & will be when Covergirl has their bitch fit about it, but I do hope things work out for her – ANTM just isn’t it.

  21. Brandon says:

Once upon a time it was controversial for black people to be on television too. There were all kinds of monsterous things being said and done to them. Alot of you need to take a deep look in the mirror and you will find the bigots of the past staring back at you. Every American has the right to pursue their dream and be happy. That is exactly what many of our troops giving their lives for every day. Maybe we owe them more for their sacrifice than our prejudice!!!

  22. Jazzyboo says:

Amen! Could not have been said better then that. I totally respect your words and you are obviously educated and have great understanding.

  23. disappointed says:

Just becasue I feel that Isis should not be on the show, does not mean that I am a biggot. I think that it is the wrong show for him. That’s all. My opinion does not make me uneducated.

  24. Missy says:

Brandon and others I completely agree with you.

Isis should be on the show because she is a woman, who cares that she was born male.

She looks like a woman and fits the height requirement.

And it’s bringing a new side to this competition. I applaud Tyra for her boldness to put this type of thing out there, be it for ratings or not. She’s still putting Isis in the eyes of America showing equality.

However, I disagree about if Isis were to win. I think she might go farther than just Covergirl, because a number of people in the fashion industry are gay/lesbian etc. and would probably want a person they could relate to in a sense in their shoots and fashion. But that is my opinion

  25. Denim says:

I think the chick is nothing but fierceness; girl all you need to do is get rid of the un-necessary body part.

  26. Stew says:

This is Tyra’s show. She can put on anyone she wants. I think the girls were just bagging on Isis because they are young and insecure with themselves. Still no excuse to be mean to someone.

  27. Lovelva says:

    i love her…
she is just tryin 2 change d preception of beauty…
    n beauty’s idea for today…
everyone has their rights 2 go for wat dey wan…
