I’m still recoiling from the Katarzyna elimination. But there are only two episodes left, so I think I can make it.
We open with Whitney being surprised about staying over Katarzyna. That’s right! Okay, this edit is insane. Why is Whitney getting like 4 minutes to talk about how she really wants this and ANTM is ready for a plus-sized model? Does she win or something?! (I really hope not! Anya Anya Anya!).
When the girls come back to their home from elimination, Saleisha is all over their house. This is a bit weird, but since she hasn’t shown up at all this season, I guess it’s compensation or something. We immediately go into how everyone hates Dominique. And apparently Dominique eats a lot. While that’s nice to hear, it’s a shame its tons and tons of junk. But hey, I wish I could eat junk all the time!
It’s Anya’s turn for screen time and they highlight how much success she’s had over the course of the season. That’s usually not a good sign. After the vaguest Tyra Mail ever, the girls head to a park where Paulina is doing a photo shoot. Wow, Paulina is thin. I’ve never realized how thin before. But she owns it and she’s gorgeous. I’m so glad Paulina is getting really involved in the show. It shows she cares about more than ratings.
The girls practice shooting each other and Whitney’s all “everyone else sucks” which isn’t cool. After their photography lesson, the editor-in-chief of Seventeen shows up to tell them they get to take photos of Paulina. The photos will be evaluated on how well they work with their model and the quality of their photo. The winner will get 50 extra frames in their photo shoot.
Fatima goes first and gets praise all around. Dominique is next and her directions are pretty vague. For example “you’re walking but not walking.” Whitney’s third and does well, even Dominique gives her praise. Anya’s fourth and decides she wants Paulina to throw leaves in the air. I think Anya definitely has the most fun with it, but is, as Whitney says, is all over the place. She really wants her puppies and rainbows to transfer to film.
I don’t really understand how this challenge will make them better models. Paulina and Ann aren’t explaining how this challenge benefits them in the context of being a model, and that’s annoying. These girls aren’t models yet.
In the end, Fatima is the winner! It’s her first challenge win and it’s about time! She’s in the top four!
During the downtime, there’s more edits of the girls trashing each other and interviewing that they are going to win. Except for Anya, because Fatima is making her melt.
This week’s photo shoot is a night shoot and the girls are 50s movie stars. Their photographer is Nigel Barker. Jay wants the girls to take it to “the next level.” Fatima makes some lame comment about how she can’t be sexy around guys—uh, wasn’t her commercial shot by a man? And wasn’t that sexy?
Anya appears to struggle during her photoshoot. It’s a good thing Fatima gets 50 extra frames because she really needs them. Whitney produces the pageant queen version of this shoot. Dominique finishes up and in the end, all the girls had a hard time with the shoot. Jay sends them home with some heavy words about thinking about their shoot and how none of them brought it that day. This causes the girls to fret even more than normal for panel.
At panel, Tyra talks like a complete moron. Why can’t she ever speak in a normal voice when introducing the judges? Anya’s photo rocks but Nigel still finds issues. Overall, the response is positive. Whitney’s next and her picture is gorgeous but it’s boring. Paulina calls it “stiff” and I’d say that’s pretty argument.
Dominique looks severely tranny and Tyra turns her picture into a stroy about how Tyra overcame her tranniness. Oh Tyra. What would she show be without your words of wisdom?
Fatima tries to use the lame excuse that she’s never been in love for why her photo isn’t great. Thankfully, Tyra calls her on it. Again, it’s a pretty but boring picture.
It’s honestly pretty hard to tell is going home. I’m going to say Dominique because she’s the one with the least potential. And she did the worst during the photographer challenge.
Anya is called first, followed by Whitney. In the end, Tyra decides to send Dominique home. This isn’t surprising, but I feel bad for Dominique. Her interviews were starting to get hilarious. I think Dominique knew it was her time to go, she doesn’t appear to be overwhelmed or too sad.

well, it’s crystal clear that you are biased against fatima. With that said, I do agree with you that Whitney was given so much attention this episode especially when she talks about her journey and america being ready for a plus-size model. I have nothing against Whitney but seriously, she is not a versatile model. All she does she open her mouth, and poke out her butt. Not pleasant. She shouldn’t even be in the top 3.
Sexed-up shoots for plus size models, Yes! high fashion, Hell no!

1. the challenge was kinda lame and i was looking forward to more of a casting challenge.
2. paulina rules and proves why she was a supermodel to begin with. she brutally honest but usually right. waaaay better than twiggy.
3. this final four has been ambitious but in the most entertaining wayl
4. personally i love nigel but i find that when it’s his turn to “shoot” the girls, i’m never blown away by his skills.
5. anya was the best. she reminded me of madonna in the early 90s.

Everyone is right, this season is unlike any other seasons, by now, Tyra would have had 2 heart to heart talks with the girls with one being from Tyra’s mom. The photo challenge was a waste of time and Whitney should have won that. Anyways, the show was full of surprises at the end. Everyone doing bad, even Anya, during her photo shoot everyone was critical of her and I thot she was going home, but she got called first. Everyone stunk.

First they complain whitney sticks out her body too much, then they complain its not sticking out enough and she doesnt “show off her beautiful body” make up your F mind.

Has Paulina’s run as a judge been successful? Pretty darn awesome, she needs to show up more in challenges or to teach the girls lessons. Obviously Tyra isnt there for heart to hear talks so maybe Paulina can come in and do that. Hey, why doesn’t Paulina take over Tyra’s position entirely!

Sadly Anya’s, but only because Tyra picked it out. She did very badly on set, they had to distract her for pete’s sakes! You are not supposed to handfeed models. Dom’s of course was worst. Too bad for her, really, I feel for her a bit. Poor braggart

I though it was weird, because in other past sessons they have said to some girls that are photographers that they dont do as well as the other because they are thinking too much. So why would they asked them to do it?
Has Paulina’s run as a judge been successful? I think so, but they dont really show her that much on panel.
Does this final four seem more negative and cut-throat than past final fours? At least they were not fighting against each other.
Why did everyone struggle so much at the photo shoot? I guess the concept of looking at nigel’s camera and looking at the “paparazzi” camera was confusing.

I guess it was anyas my favorite altough whitney and Fatima looked very pretty. Fatima looks pretty but it doesnt go with the actual pic.
Dominique was the worst by faaaar.

Yeah. I don’t think it’s the most helpful challenge to modeling. It’s not a bad idea, because it DOES give you an idea of how a shot could work. ALthough I don’t think 5 minutes is enough lol.
I think Pauline is better than twiggy, but still not Janice. I really liked that she’s meeting up with the girls, no doubt as a compensation for Tyra’s lack of appearances
I really don’t like this top 4, now top 3, I Really don’t want Whitney there, she has no versatility in her pictures, her mouth is always open and her poses are more or less the same. Fatima’s personality is awful. I had some respect for her as a model through the past shows because she’s been progressing, but this episode made me want to shoot her. How many times was the excuse “i’ve never been with a man” aired in this shows? Domanique (now eliminated) was always over 30 in her pictures, and no judge commented on her age? Anya is the only one that seems to be a right choice, although it looked from her commercial during the preview she’ll be leaving… or at least in the bottom 2
I didn’t really like any photo. The shoot could have been awesome but it just was crap, like 2nd episode photoshoot crap. THe girls didn’t bring it and DONT deserve to be in the top 3 with crappy pictures this late.

The photo shoot lesson was important for the girls, but most photographers get more time to learn than they did, so in a way it was bullsh**. What I find more interesting is that there have been NO Rome go-sees. Even in Cycle 3 when the girls did go-sees in New York, they also did them in Japan. I suspect it’s because Tyra knows from Cycle 1 when Robin Manning had trouble in the go-sees due to her plus-size status in Paris, that Whitney wouldn’t book any jobs in Rome, and that’s why we haven’t seen any running amuck in a foreign city. I think this challenge was a lame, last minute replacement for the real challenge that, personally, is one of my favorite: the foreign go-sees challenge. If this is the case, then I suspect she wants Whitney to win, otherwise why change the format so much to accommodate a contestant?
I do love Paulina. She’s humorous and honest. As Oscar Wilde said, “If you’re going to tell people the truth, you’d better make them laugh.”
Photo shoot was okay, but either they didn’t really give enough direction or they doped the models up before hand. Anya’s was indeed the best, but, we are to believe, by chance. Dominique was doomed in this challenge due to the styling, although I do think the constant criticism of how she dresses at panel was fair, given that she’d been warned several times before this episode to stop it with the tights and sweater look. I’m glad that others are commenting on how EVERY SINGLE PHOTO OF WHITNEY HAS HER MOUTH OPEN! So why is it that none of the photographers so far have chastised her for this? I remember Heather in Cycle 2 dangling over a pit in a warehouse and Mr. Jay constantly saying, “Close your mouth, Heather. Close your mouth.” So what is up with this baloney? Why does Whitney once again get a free pass?
As for the cutthroatedness of the finale 4, I don’t think that’s a fair adjective to use with Anya. Her contribution in last night’s Let’s Beat Up on Dominique session amounted to little more than, “She always eats candy,” not the Fatima/Whitney rants of, “How is it that she’s still here? Where is her potential? I just don’t see it in her face.”
I’d prefer Anya for the win but won’t be surprised if it goes to Whitney.

That’s actually a great point about the lack of Rome go-sees. It’s seriously lame that they are setting up a Whitney win. I’d love for a plus-sized model to win, but on her own accord for being the best in the group, not because Tyra has decided it’s time.
as for anya, i totally agree. she’s so sweet and kind. but fatima and whitney are intense and hypercompetitive to the point it’s distracting.

yeah, I don’t like Fatima. She’s definitely gotten better since the first episodes and it’s obvious that she’s working really hard but she bothers me. maybe if the season was 3-4 episodes longer, i’d grow to like her.

I agree with Erin about Fatima and EasterBuffy about Whitney and the go-sees. This season has been so off, I wonder if its ever going to be popular again, or maybe Tyra’s getting tired and she doesn’t want to do it anymore, since everything is off this time around

Questions How do you feel about the playing photographer challenge? This challenge was a good tool to show the girls how a camera optical dimensions create succes or failure within a second of time. An I question why Paulina.. why not a prior ANTM winner instead of Paulina. Or use Paulina’s husband who is a famous photographer to show the girls how the camera can translate to the success or failure in a nano second of time
Has Paulina’s run as a judge been successful? This question opens up why did Paulina say to Tyra that she would take over for Tyra cause Tyra’s photos at the Italian castle was so fantastic that Tyra should just go on an create a new career for herself as a photographer.. Tyra looked ticked that Paulina might have an eye on her spot at ANTM.
Does this final four seem more negative and cut-throat than past final fours? No there have been worse than these four, but it seem Mz Dom calmed her haughtiness down
Why did everyone struggle so much at the photo shoot? Put to much though of being shot by Nigel than getting into the mind set of being chased by an paparazzi (italian misqueto)
