We enter with Whitney chalking up her fakeness to nerves and Fatima thinking she’s got the competition in the bag and bashing Katarzyna before getting confusing Tyra Mail. The girls get to go to ancient ruins where they will BATTLE. For real. I want to believe it, but the gladiator costumes are really bad.
The girls are getting fight lessons, and Dominique reveals she wants to whoop Whitney’s ass. But she’s just kidding. The fighter instructor wants them to think of battling like posing. If they did that, would the hits not have any power? I’m confused. But this is why I’m not an ultimate fighter. Not like these girls.
After their lesson, the girls get real gladiator costumes. Wait, didn’t they do the whole warrior theme last season? The Jays show up and they want the girls to practice posing. ‘Cause their next photo shoot is RIGHT NOW.
The photo shoot challenge consists of shooting five frames while fighting a real warrior. But model-fighting, not real fighting. Most of the photos were pretty weak, but they only had five frames. The winner of the photo shoot gets 100 euro to go shopping and she has the option of sharing it, if she wants. I’d so not share it! Whitney wins and does the moral thing by sharing it with Anya. They have a fun time on the shopping spree and soon it’s time for the real photo shoot!
The photo shoot’s theme is a modern interpretation of the Renaissance, which just ends up with most of the girls looking like Cruella De Vil, but in an interesting sort of way. I actually say this very hair on the cover of a magazine (Chic Today, I think), so it’s very in. As we already know, Tyra is the photographer this shoot. This probably means the photos will be in black and white, which, I think, will take away from the girls’ elaborate costumes and hairstyles. But what do I know?
Tyra totally takes over the photo shoots when she’s the photographer. Isn’t Jay the creative director? The tension between the two of them seems really thick, but I could just be imagining that because of all the rumors. Dominique rocks the photo shoot, but this doesn’t faze Fatima at all. Where did this girls confidence–sorry, warped sense of self–come from? But then, she does really well on the photo shoot too. But she should, it is top five.
Katarzyna was alright, Whitney struggles, and Anya rocks it. I’m on the Anya train. If she and Katarzyna aren’t the top two, I’ll throw something at my television. But then, you never know until you see the final photos.
During panel, the photos are in color! What?! Anya’s photo was fantastic, Fatima’s photo is great too–Paulina says she’s jealous of it–as is Dominique’s. I loved Paulina’s plug to be the next host. I’d be all for that, I love Paulina.
Then it’s Katarzyna, whose photo is only okay. Paulina says she looks “sleepy or bored.” Finally, it’s Whitney, whose photo was also only okay.
They show a lot of the judges deliberation, but I can’t help but wonder if that’s to confuse us. Fatima gets called first, followed by Dominique, then Anya. This leaves Whitney and Katarzyna in the bottom two and they send Katarzyna home! Seriously? Dominique is still around and Katarzyna is gone? One fantastic photo does not a model make. But then, Kat’s photo was pretty weak, she is coasting. Oh, I don’t know.

this episode was such bs. katarzyna should NOT have gone home. all her pictures combined are SOOOOO much better than dominiques and especially whitneys. whitney is given too many second chances (i think it was her third bottom two?). ugh she pisses me off so much.
tyra is wicked annoying. thats all i have to say.

I wish that Whitney had gone home instead of Katarzyna also, but , I think you could tell Katarzyna wouldn’t be america’s next top model, because Tyra never really liked her(Maybe ’cause of her name ?) and yeah.
I’m really rooting for Fatima right now, it seems like she wants this the most (besides Tranny Dominique) and she has made the most improvement over the course of the show thus far (She’s been called first twice in a row now!!!)

Again!!! My first favorite contestant of this cycle is eliminated the same week that my favorite contestant of last 2 cycle were eliminated ( Brittany and Heather!!!)… I dont know what Tyra wants because sometime she eliminates girls for not a good photo and next week she eliminates girl for personality…. I mean come on, they should have given Katarzyna another opportuny like what happen with Fatima… Now Anya is my favorite one and I hope she wins ANTM…

i read somewhere katarzyna was eliminated because she got a modeling contract or something along those lines, but i havent been able to find anything on the web about it?
assuming that is not true, kat definitely should NOT have gone home tonight. hows tyra about to talk every season about how weak or strong a girl’s “book of work” is? kat’s “book of work,” next to anya’s, is by far the strongest out of all the girl’s this season. tyra is definitely losing it. i think she never liked kat in the first place. look at last week when kat told her how to pronounce her name correctly. in the end, tyra goes “yeah, whatever,” which basically equates to “i dont care.” saleisha wins cycle 9, now kat gets eliminated…something is most definitely off.

Do you enjoy it when Tyra plays photographer? Some cycles yes, but this cycle she was annoyng.
Are her photos comparable to other photographers on ANTM? I actually like her Black and White pictures best. This one doesnt not compare to other great photographers.
Is Tyra right to take as much creative control on the photo shoots? A regular photographer no, but this is Tyra, the creator of the show and the executive producer so she can do whatever she wants.
Is Fatima’s extreme confidence validated? It should not be extreme, but is good she has confidence because that helps to improve.
Whose photo was your fave? Least fave? Favorite it was Fatima, Least favorite was whitneys.
Why was Kat sent home? Tyra never seem to like her, so i still dont get why she got chosen to be in the show if she didnt like her. The fact that Tyra was the photographer when she is sent home doesnt surprise me either. Also, right now being the top 5 i guess there is no space for errors, i am sure if whitney didnt win that challenge she probably would go home instead of kat.
Who would you have sent home? I would have sent Dominique because she looks old (isnt that way they sent renee from c 8 home?) and she was not dressed propertly for pannel (some contestants from other cycles have been in the bottom 2 for the same reason)

She’s good, no doubt. But did you see her gloat at the panel when they complimented her on the picture? LMAO That is SO Tyra - so full of herself and she always comes first. All the things we love about her, eh??

Why not, it’s her show. She can do what she wants and have fun with it. I’m not complaining. I love ANTM!

I think so. You have to be serious and confident when it comes to winning the competition. Like Jade said, “This is not America’s Next Best Friend”.

Why was Kat sent home?
Because of her bored expression in her photo. She shouldn’t have been sent home because she was a very strong contestant and her past photos were much better than Whitney’s. I thought she would be in the top 2 for sure! But Tyra surprises me with her bad decisions week after week. As long as DoMANique doesn’t win, I’m happy!
Who would you have sent home?
Whitney - her time has come. She’s losing her oompf. Katarzyna started doubting herself as well, but she’s stronger than Whitney. Anyway, we’ll see how it goes next week. I’m usually spot on on who will win, but not with this cycle!

I have some questions about your name – I’ve heard that you previously went by Kat or Kate, is that true?
Yeah, exactly. My friends back home all call me “Kate”, on the show the girls called me “Kat”, and that’s mostly what I go by in the every day.
Why did you change that for the show?
Actually, I told Tyra I could go by “Kate” or “Kat,” but she said, “Your mom gave you the name Katarzyna, so we’re going to call you Katarzyna.” That’s how that went.
Did you think it was deliberate when Tyra pronounced your name incorrectly after you corrected her?
To be honest with you, I don’t know. I think would be kind of weird if it was deliberate. I’m hoping it wasn’t, that she wasn’t saying it to just to try to get on my nerves. I think she’s a woman of stature, I would think she wouldn’t have to play around with that kind of silliness, you know? Paulina always said it correctly; I don’t know if they showed that, I don’t remember. But Paulina always knew it, but it somehow got lost in translation between she said and when it went over to Miss Jay and skipped over to Tyra.
I can’t even hear it correctly in my head now because I’ve heard Tyra say it so many times.
I know, right? (laughing) Ka-tar-zeeena. Kat-tarrrr-zena.
What did you think about your edit on the show?
I have a personality, I’d like to make that clear. (laughing) I do have a personality! When I heard about some of the interviews that some of the other girls did, like Lauren or Marvita or Amis, they all said I was funny and I have a personality. I’m friends with them, and they’re not girls who have a lack of personality –and of course, I don’t think I lack a personality. The cameras are on you 24/7, and I always felt watched. I was never able to separate myself from being watched, so I was always a little self-conscious. Because every single little thing – you know, if I fart, the mike guy is going to hear it and the camera is going to catch it. It was just a constant pressure over two months, just constantly. I wasn’t fully comfortable, I just wasn’t myself. But also, I think Fatima and Whitney got most of the airtime on the show. Every single episode, I see so much of them and not much of the other girls. I guess there’s not that much room to show the personalities of the other girls.
At first they would tell you that you were too sexy, then too boring. What do you think happened?
Well, besides hanging out with Paulina a little bit that one time, and shooting with Tyra – which was nerve-wracking so it’s hard to show your personality – we didn’t really get to hang out with the judges. We didn’t get to know them - to actually be able to talk to them one-on-one, or get comfortable with them. So I don’t really know how they can say too much about how we are really. I’ve heard before, though, that I can be sexy, but I think that it takes much more than a 5-minute edit every week to say that someone is boring. I think I’m funny, my friends think I’m pretty funny. (laughing) I think that I’m cool. I hope that some people were able to see that.
Do you think the judges watch tapes of the house at all? The reason I say that is that we didn’t see you get into any of the fighting, so maybe that’s where they formed their opinion.
Yeah, I’m not someone who gets into all the drama. I wasn’t there for all the other girls. I wasn’t there to be on reality TV, I was there because I was really interested in modeling. We had so little down time during the day, the last thing I wanted to do when I got home was fight with girls – girls that start fights just to start fights. It was so silly, and I didn’t give them any time to dwell on that. I didn’t want to waste my energy. So yeah, it’s possible. Obviously, I feel that if I had started more fights I would have gotten more air time on the show, but I wasn’t there for that. Even though I got the boring edit, I am still proud of the person I portrayed and if my grandkids watch this in however many years, I’m not going to be ashamed or appear ignorant.
Did you feel like you had one particular judge that was pulling for you?
I don’t know. I think Miss Jay liked my walk from the beginning, so I hoping that Miss Jay pulled for me. I like Miss Jay a lot, too. But for the rest of them, I could never figure them out.
Did you ever see your photo in judging and think to yourself, “I know I had a better shot”?
Oh, yeah. That lingerie shoot, I only did two or three photographs that were overtly sexual like that, and I feel like they picked that one to make a point. I’m sure – for example, Tyra once admitted that she picked a photograph for Claire to show a certain point, that she liked her eyebrow a certain way, so I know they do pick them to make a point. I don’t know about picking poor pictures on purpose to get them eliminated; I don’t really know what goes on behind the scenes, because we never get to see all the photos we took. We only get to see that one shot.
How do you feel about Tyra personally after this experience, and how do you think she feels about you?
She’s Tyra Banks, I don’t know her personally very well. Obviously, we only got to spend a few moments together. What’s kind of weird, though, is my friends, people who watch the show, are telling me things like, “Wow, Tyra really has it in for you. She really doesn’t like you.” Or something like that. When I was on the show, you know, I have 20/40 vision, so I’m like – it was kind of like, from where I was standing to the judges panel, it was a little blurry. (laughing) I couldn’t really see their exact expressions. But when they zoom in on the actual show, I feel like she scowls at me sometimes. (laughing) I don’t know.
You seemed to be really comfortable with all of the girls in the house, was there anybody that you didn’t get along with so well?
I didn’t start any fights because if there was people I wasn’t crazy about, I would avoid them instead of being confrontational. I guess I wasn’t crazy about Fatima or Whitney.
Who were you closest to in the house? Did you stay out of the catfights?
I was closest to Marvita and Amis, but there are a bunch of girls I really liked. I really liked Lauren, I really liked Claire, and I like Anya as well. There are definitely girls that I like, but the show didn’t showcase the fact that I made close friendships with some of the girls.
So after Marvita and Amis had left –
Yeah, it was tough because those were the girls that I found so much fun, I laughed so much with them. We had a really good time. After they started leaving, it was like five people had left because those were the people that were closest to you, you know? But I think that everyone knows that it’s a reality, people have to go home, and all you can do is keep in touch after the show.
Can you give us your thoughts on the remaining girls?
Sure.
Let’s start with Anya.
Oh, I think Anya’s a sweetheart! She’s a sweetheart. She’s so funny. She would say things like, “I’ve never seen a castle,” but it’s like – I don’t know. You have to love her, she’s such a sweetheart. She would always take care of the kitchen, clean to make sure everything was good, when Fatima was sick she brought her food. I think she has a truly, genuinely sweet heart.
What did you think about the judges saying about Anya that it was better for models not to think too much?
You’re thinking of last night’s episode, when they said “We want our models dumb”?
Yes.
Just because Anya’s a little blonde doesn’t mean she’s dumber than any of the other girls. I mean, Fatima – it goes in one ear and out the other! Really. Anya, she’s silly sometimes but at the same time, she has a lot of good insight sometimes that you didn’t get to see on the show. She’s not stupid. I think because of her accent she can appear that way, but she’s a good girl.
What do you think about Whitney?
I really don’t like the way she speaks to other people and the facial expressions that she has. I really can’t say anything about her real personality just because I really didn’t like the way she spoke to other people, so I avoided speaking with her. I don’t like the facial expressions she makes. She always rolls her eyes at everybody. She’s just not the type of person I would be friends with.
How about Dominique?
Yes, she does believe in herself, and she does think she’s the best and all that, but she’s not someone who – even when she had that big fight with Whitney, Whitney would be throwing those really mean negative comments at her, really bad words, and all Dominique would say is, “You’re a really beautiful person, but your attitude sucks.” Dominique is confident in herself, and yes – she does talk quite a bit about herself – but she’s not mean-spirited at all. She doesn’t put other people down to make herself feel better.
So that brings us to Fatima.
The thing with her is that she – I just think she doesn’t really know how to make friends. I don’t think she was friends with anyone from the show. She starts a lot of fights for no reason. She says that she likes to test people, but why would you try to make other people feel badly just to amuse yourself? I think that’s bizarre.
You won Cover Girl of the Week twice – did that surprise you?
Yes! Considering that my edit was “the boring girl” I think it’s cool that people still thought of me. I guess this is like the Miss Congeniality of the week or something? Yeah, so that’s so cool. It’s great that people actually thought I was worthy of that even though I wasn’t the most dramatic, or the most seen person on the show, but people still saw me.
What about your makeovers, since you were re-done. Which did you like better? Are you planning to stay with the short, dark look?
I don’t know. I mean, shorter hair is okay. I kind of miss having my long hair and being able to play with it a little more, so I’m waiting for it to grow back. But I didn’t mind the short hair. If the almighty judges think it’s going to help me in my modeling career, then that’s awesome. That’s important to me right now, and that was my priority on the show. But I like long hair because you can play with it. As far as color, I’ve been a color chameleon as long as I can remember. Throughout college I had really blonde hair, then really dark hair, really all spectrums of the rainbow except for red. So the color is okay with me. I’ll probably stay with this for a little bit and then I’ll go platinum blonde. (laughing) It depends on my mood.
What was your favorite photoshoot?
I think I had two favorites. I loved the photoshoot we did with Elle MacPherson. She’s just such a warmhearted person, and she was just a pleasure to work with. And I really loved the music-themed photoshoot as well.
What about a challenge, did you have a favorite?
The runway challenge, because I won! (laughing)
What about a photoshoot you didn’t like?
(thinking) Let me see…I don’t know which one I didn’t like. There were a lot that I didn’t actually love, but I was more proud of some than others. I wasn’t happy that the photo for the lingerie shoot was so overtly sexy because of the way that I did that photo shoot, and then just to see a photograph that is what you would expect from me in a way because the judges said I was sexy, that didn’t lie easy with me.
What about posing with the meat, did that make you uncomfortable?
Oh, okay – the meat. It was freezing cold, because it was frozen meat. It was so cold, because it winter in NYC, and on top of that they put frozen meat on you. The meat stunk. We had some of the blood dripping down into our boots, so the insides of our boots were all wet. It was against our skin, so it was definitely a little gross.
Do you read any of the online sites about Next Top Model?
Yeah! I’ve checked out FORT before.
How tall are you?
I’m 5’9 ½.”
What’s next for you?
Future plans! I’m going to get back to New York hopefully, find an agency, and try this out for a while. If not, I’ll go out and get a master’s degree in some sort of management role.

just goes to show that tyra has the power to pick which pictures she puts out, so she can influence the judges, the show, the producer and how we view a model, because there may have been a better “unsexy” picture that she decides not to show because she wants the show to say in a certain direction

1- i think i would’ve shared the shopping spree. i would pick anya or kat.
2-The girl with the best warrior shot was anya and kat. gosh not whitney.
3-i don’t enjoy when tyra photographs the girls because they make a big deal about it. if i was one of the girls i would be like okay this isn’t that important. i like when nigel takes pictures instead.
4- i don’t like tyra either. her pictures are the worst out of the whole cycles.
5-once again i don’t care about tyra. i don’t like her
