The girls have arrived in Rome and are, as always, amazed by the place. Anya always sound so genuine in her confessionals. It’s refreshing and she’s quickly becoming one of new faves! Until, that is, she falls. But she has a great self-deprecating attitude about it.
Fatima interviews that she;s going to give it her all, and that her travel document issue was a real wake-up call. The girls get to their new home, which has the smallest hallways I have ever seen. More gasping and screaming ensue.
Katarzyna had 2 interviews in the first five minutes! That’s never happened before!
Immediately after her “this is it” interview, Fatima gets all whiny about how she’s sick and tired. While the other girls rag on her for it, Anya brings her soup. Points for Anya!
Has anyone else noticed the tone Whitney take son during her interviews? Has she always done that or is it new? She takes it on when she complains about Lauren being loud in the morning and Anya not understanding the Tyra Mail.
The girls get a fashion tour around Rome and girls get to take segweys around the city, which results in mild hilarity. Their guide is showing them street style and why and how it works. After the tour, the girls get to meet Gai Mattiano and it’s challenge time! They get to try out their Italian style and whoever impresses Gai the best will win! Whitney’s worried about the clothes being too small, but ends up wearing a fairly awesome jacket. It’s the ninth episode and Lauren’s walk still blows, Dominique isn’t fresh, Fatima is too young, Whitney is beautiful, Katarzyna is gorgeous, but it’s Anya that’s the winner! She wins a fabulous red carpet gown. (She better win ANTM now, so she’ll have places to wear this gown!)
The girls find out it’s Covergirl commercial time and Lauren interviews that she’s not Covergirl material. Does she know nothing about this show? Being a Covergirl is a requirement!
The commercial is for the Covergirl Queen collection vibrant hues lip color. Remember, every woman is a queen. In Italian. The commercial involves entering a restaurant and meeting your boyfriend for dinner. The director really wants the girls to play with attitude.
Anya goes first and she’s pretty incoherent but it’s cute.
Katarzyna rocked the language, but didn’t really have a presence.
Dominique is clearly clueless.
Lauren is as terrible as the previews showed us she would be. But she really doesn’t seem to be trying.
Fatima is a “goddess” according to the director. Uncool. I want this girl to go home. But kudos to her for overcoming her drama last episode and her sickness to rock this!
Whitney was fake and not believable. Jay’s right, she’s really forcing this.
Also, what’s with the 80s retro outfits the girls have to wear for this commercial? Did they not just get a lesson about Italian style?
While the girls read Tyra Mail, the camera cleverly cuts to Whitney and Lauren standing next to each other. Perhaps an allusion to who will be the bottom two? Only time will tell.
See, now that Whitney is nervous about going home, she feels more genuine in the interviews. But who knows.
At panel, most of the commercials blew. But what can you expect when the girls are given 30 minutes to prep in a language they don’t know? Tyra imitating Italian is going to get on my nerves. How many episodes in Italy are left?
Katarzyna tells the judges how to say her name correctly. I think this pissed Tyra off, but really, it’s the NINTH episode. They should know it by now. Before the judges deliberate, Tyra decides to pretend she’s an Italian robot.
Fatima is called first. The bottom two is Whitney and Lauren, which isn’t surprising. It’s Lauren who heads home, in what’s possibly the least shocking elimination ever. I just wonder how being in the bottom two will affect Whitney.

How could they be improved?- i like em, but any real top model would have more time to prepare and access to a tutor or some coach. there didnt seem to be too many people helping them. i think its more about who doesnt gett rattled filimg the spot. do they even use these commercials? theyre kind of garbage!

Is Anya genuinely that nice? I think she is. She gave fatima food and worried about her, she also said she didnt like when the other girls talk bad about each other.
Why is Whitney getting meaner? I dont think she is getting meaner. I think it has to do with the editing. They may have asked all the girls the same questions in the interviews, they could have been all mean but they are only showing whitney’s to make her look like the “mean one.”

How do you feel about the foreign commercial challenges? How could they be improved? For some reason this commercial looked like it had a lower budget compared to other seasons. the challenge is the same every time, but its always hard to all of them.

Before I get to the questions, I want to mention Paula. Oh, I think I am in love. Has anyone ever realized how nice it is to have a judge that stands up for her opinion and doesn’t roll on her back like a certain past judge did?

First of all, lauren should have went home when she and claire were in the bottom 2. Claire would have done so much better and there would have been some actual competition in Rome, when we already knew it would be lauren going home. I think they just kept lauren to keep it interesting. 2nd of all, whitney is not mean. I thot her commercial was best after fatima’s and I couldnt tell she was being fake.

Or did she know she was doomed to fail::: she didnt even try because she thot she would suck, therefore she did suck because she gave up. how stupid. they wasted so much time on her, where is claire, the judges made such a stupid decision to make the show interesting. When its like, the 5th elimination and she still can’t walk after already getting 2 walking lessons and 2 runways, then its FAILURE.

How do you feel about the foreign commercial challenges? How could they be improved? “Give them the script over night and let them study it for longer. I didn’t know or not if they were told what the words they were saying meant, so that would help with the inflection.”
Whose commercial was the best? The worst? “Fatima or Katarzyna, best. Lauren and Dominque worst”
Who will be the final three? “Anya definitely. The remaining spaces are a little iffy, but I think Dominque and Fatima might take those places. I really would rather Katarzyna over Dominque, but I fear a personality-based elimination in her future. I like her, but Tyra and Co don’t see any personality.”
Is Anya that Nice? Has to be. Can’t be that much of an airhead and also so conniving as to pull the wool over everyone’s eyes as to your true meanness. These type of fishbowl shows tend to highlight people’s worse and best attributes, so her sweetness is genuine. Also, nobody who laughs that much at their own clutsiness falling off the bus is phony about it.
I think the pressure of the whinnowing gene pool is getting to Whitney. She sees Anya as her competition and makes an unnecessary blonde remark (”Oh, Anya, so blonde!”) when she, herself, is a peroxide blonde. She’s constantly reminding us of the challenges of being a plus size model, so you know the producers keep asking her plus size questions and little else. Still, she needs to lighten up and let go of her fears and focus only on herself and not the skinny girls around her.
Is Anya peaking too soon? Hell no, she’s going to win this thing. The edit they are giving her is the role model edit, which no one else is getting right now. She’s never been my favorite model, but her niceness is important to Tyra.
Did Lauren try during the commercial? Lauren tried as much as Lauren could. Yes, she jinxed herself, but she also made reference to the fact that she knew it was coming and that she also didn’t think she would have gotten as far as she did, so perhaps she just needed more lead time for mental prepping and she didn’t do it.
The first fake CoverGirl commercials – in Spain they gave the girls the Catalan script the night before, and I believe it was phonetic, but can’t recall if it was. In China, they didn’t have to learn Mandarin, Cantonese, whatever, but in Japan they were forced to read from phonetic cue cards. I just wish they would standardize the procedure and be fair all around to the models. Either make then do the commercial in the native tongue of the country you’re in (Thailand, China, South Africa) or don’t, but don’t yank them around from Cycle to Cycle. I prefered Katarzyna’s because it was the most natural of all versions, had the smoothest transitions and she looked great on camera.
Final three? Well, now that Lauren’s gone, I don’t really care.

Even though the majority of readers above are saying Lauren’s commercial was the worse, watching Fatima’s commercial made my skin crawl. You’re selling lipstick, not sex. I still think she’s too painfully thin for the job.

She’s not getting meaner, she is who she is. She’s always been like this with her bitchy attitude. I don’t see a difference between the beginning and now.

Lauren tried as best as she could, but it’s really HARD to overcome your awkwardness, especially when you’re put under pressure. She may or may not overcome her confidence issue, but she needs time to build it up. It doesn’t happen overnight. Still, I think she’s learned a lot from her experience and is leaving with a positive attitude. I’ll miss seeing her!

They have all been like that, so I don’t see the problem with them. I think they just want to see how well the girls perform under pressure.

-She did not try and didn’t even try to commit. She said she doesn’t even like covergirl, so then I wonder why would she join when the prize is covergirl. She didn’t even put any effort in applying the lipstick.

-Hands down Fatima, it had charm and she had a flow with the words while talking and walking.And you couldn’t even tell she was losing her voice. great job fatima Kat did well, but it lacked charm and was flat.

This season is becoming a joke, I don’t know if anyone has noticed. Tyra has extremely lost it. I have been watching the top model marathons on tv of past seasons and realized just how much this cycle has become crap. First of all, Lauren? Are you serious!?! I’ve never seen such a terrible contestant in the HISTORY of top model. Her faced has looked THE SAME IN ALL OF HER PHOTOSHOOTS. The only reason people like her is because of the judges. People are persuaded only by what the judges say and the judges are completely lost or maybe just pulling for a ‘different kind of covergirl’(punky), but why change what’s been going good. For example, People think Fatima had the best covergirl commercial this week because the judges thought so. Uh, are you kidding me? Watch it a few times then watch Any of the past top model’s “Life as a covergirl” commercials and tell me if that is covergirl behaviour. The ONLY person that acted like a covergirl was Katarzyna, she was natural, looked great and sounded great. Also, did you see the criticism that Kat got compared to Lauren? SERIOUSLY?! How can you even bloody compare them?! Tyra said that Kat had no energy and was ranting about her, but then Tyra and the judges gave a ’soft, toned down criticism to Lauren. If this was Cycle 6/7 they would have ripped that girl apart. Also, notice how they don’t care about what the contestants look like anymore? They use to give Caridee a huge deal just because she didn’t have her hair up in a pony tail.. but then you look at Lauren and she wears all this disgusting punk clothing. THAT IS -NOT- MODEL. She also use to rip at all the girls who didn’t want it. LAUREN SAID HERSELF THAT SHE “IS NOT A COVERGIRL”! Right then Tyra should have ripped through the door and been like “then you can go home, kiddo.” Also, have people noticed that Tyra is getting bitchier on camera? I remember Adrienne Curry from cycle one saying that Tyra is completely different on camera then off camera but I never believed her because Tyra just seemed like a sweetheart who really cared about the girl. I mean, she even would come talk to the girls and see how their doing with their struggles and all. NOW! She hasn’t come and had a heart-to-heart talk with the girls, she’s extremely mean in the judging panel and on top of that she’s just careless. She really is careless, look at how much effort she’s NOT putting into everything this cycle. The past photoshoots have been pretty much exact copies of previous cycles, The girls aren’t learning any lessons in the challenges because the challenges have been retarded, and even by where the girls went this cycle, Italy.. didn’t they go to Italy in cycle 2 I think it was. Oh, speaking of challenges, this last one was the worst of the worst. CAT WALK for a bloody red carpet dress? Uh? Little unfair? Whitney is clearly not a size 2 as she stated and would have to be automatically disqualified because that dress was a one of a kind he said. Yea, perfectly fair. Anyway I think my rant is over because I’m jumping all over the place with thoughts. Hope everyone can follow if you read this.

That backs up my previous post about Lauren. I didn’t include all photoshoots because I couldn’t find big enough pictures of her face.
Anyway, She has the SAME face, SAME miserable attitude, SAME pouty eyes/mouth, and she just looks dead in EVERY SINGLE SHOOT. She’s lifeless and the judges didn’t realize it till she does a terrible commercial. The ONLY reason they elimated Lauren was because they would have looked extremely bad to NOT eliminate her with the energy she had. Even if she HAD energy and did a terrible shoot, they would have said its the best thing in the world because they are just trying to root for the ‘different kind of covergirl’. She was a disgusting, attitudey, “Lurch walking”, not wanting, not deserving contestant.
