Whitney wants a plus-girl to win! She thinks it’s time. I’m torn on this subject. On one hand, I’d love a plus-sized girl to win, but on thew other hand, plus-sized is niche modeling, not unlike children or petite. Until the entire fashion industry changes it’s standards, a plus-sized winner would prove ANTM isn’t looking for the next “top” model.
Or maybe not!
Lauren goes spastic on Fatima and Fatima actually comes across as mature and collected. A bit self-righteous, sure, but calm. What is up with Lauren lately?
The girls get to go on go-sees! Already! Normally these don’t take place until the international destination (which is rumored to be Rome, by the way). What is going on?!
The girls get put into groups of four and are only allowed to walk. Whitney, Dominique, Claire and Stacy-Ann are together and Fatima, Lauren, Anya and Katarzyna were together. But they get handy GPS cell phones so there is nooooo way they’ll get lost. Right?
Also, is anyone else noticing how strange Lauren is becoming in her interviews?
Lauren’s walk has improved! That’s good! Fatima got positive reviews, as did Stacy-Ann. I’ve decided Stacy-Ann is my new favorite.
During the go-sees, Whitney’s weight is a problem. This isn’t surprising because most standard designers send size 2s down the runway. Here’s a question for you: why is no one whining about the height requirement to be a model? Technically, it’s the same thing–discrimination based on a physical attribute.
After the commercial, they visit Shoshanna. She’s a designer who embraces all sorts of women’s body types. I’m glad to see the judges looked for designers looking for diversity!
Fatima is too thin! I love it!
Team one lacked in personal presentation. Team two lacked in personality and runway. Which means the winner is Team one! Stacy-Ann booked the most jobs of anyone. She’s totally the dark horse this season. Her and Anya. The winning team gets to shoot a beauty story for Seventeen.
At the photo shoot, Jay is walking on a treadmill. Then he’s running! Then there’s paper! Whoa!!! Then he talks about the “next level” and blah blah blah. The photo shoot itself is about expressing emotion with your bodies while swimming in a puddle. Claire is up first and she jumps into the plastic sheet. This is a concept that just looks painful. And Claire proves it is by hurting herself. But then, she wasn’t supposed to jump.
Most of the girls struggle, but Dominique, Fatima and Whitney gets tons of praise. And Katarzyna gets the lowest-key makeover ever. I love how the editors tried to turn it into some sort of drama, but it was really lackluster. Not the haircut. Watching it.
At panel, Claire gets in trouble for the face-plant. And for the picture. Along with Claire, Stacy-Ann, and Lauren were criticized. Katarzyna, Whitney, Dominique, Fatima and Anya got praise.
Fatima’s called first! I seriously thought Whitney was going to get called first. but she’s fifth! I missed the boat on that one. Unsurprisingly, it comes down to Claire and Lauren. Standing next to Claire, Lauren looks freakishly tall. I wish I knew how tall everyone was! Claire gives a weird speech which made me think this was a sporting event and not about modeling. But the judges are right, Claire did get worse as the show went on. They made the right choice.

Can a plus-sized girl with ANTM without compromising the concept of “top model”? Not sure… it would be a huge step for the modeling community though.
Will they do go-sees again? Should they? Yes and yes.
What did you think of the photo shoot concept? Weird and stupid. You could barely see their faces, and they didn’t do close up shots!
What do you think of Katarzyna’s new look? Not too different, but cool.
Whose photo was your favorite? Least favorite? Fave, Anya or Fatima. Least fave, Whitney (a fetus? eeew!)

Leora, I totally agree with what you said. But then again, are ANY of the winners “top models”? The supermodel concept died in the late 90’s. Today you see more actresses and singers modelling on magazine covers than top models. The only top models left are Gisele Bundchen and Kate Moss. The rest are unknown.

Will Lauren be able to overcome her awkwardness?
No way. At least not in this short period of time. It will take a lot for her to change this drastically. I don’t think she’ll ever be ready for it. The judges desperately want to have another Shandy they can shape and mold, but Lauren is way too rough around the edges.
Who is the current front-runner?
Not sure at this point. I need to watch more and see. It could change from week to week. Look at Claire: I thought she would have gone far, at least in the top 3, but she was eliminated already.

Will they do go-sees again? Should they? Probably yes. I think they should do it again, see how it goes internationally.
What did you think of the photo shoot concept? To be a model you need to be pretty, but i think that its cool to see what you can do without showing your face and in the photo shoot they had to try to do their best with their body and movement.
What do you think of Katarzyna’s new look? She is pretty either way.
Whose photo was your favorite? Least favorite? My favorite was Whitney, there is nothing more beautiful that live without being born, and yes it looked like a fetus, but i though it was very nice.

Will they do go-sees again? Should they? “I think they will. They may have something else planned for the top 4-5, though. They probably should though, because it’ll probably be in another country and another market”
What did you think of the photo shoot concept? “Concept was nice, but it’s more of an ‘art’ image, than a fashion image. Which is good, but not normally what these girls will be doing”

Definitely!! You don’t need to be a size 2 to shill Cover Girl. There are plus-sized supermodels, anyway.

I think so, as this was a watered-down version and didn’t factor as much into the judging as go-sees normally are.
What did you think of the photo shoot concept?
Dumbest concept ever, you could hardly see the girls. Differences were so subtle, all the pics looked the same to me.

I prefer the new look, with long hair she looks too Maxim.

Can a plus size girl win?
If this one doesn’t, who will? Seriously, Whitney has the most affable personality since Toccara Jones. Not stupid, either, what with her comments about not alienating the first designer even though that woman said she had no chance of ever walking for her line.
Go-sees again?
You betcha. There were two go-sees in Cycle 3. In Cycle 3, the producers threw them to the wolves, er, streets of New York and Tokyo. Come on, what’s more fun than watching your favorite model go down in flames in a foreign city?
This photo shoot?
Although I understand the difficulty of the shoot was to test and push the girls forward, how can you honestly critique someone when you put a plastic sheet and a layer of water between them and the camera?
Kat’s new hair?
Much better, especially the way she had it in panel.
Favorite photo?
I hate to say it, but Fatima’s photo was quite excellent.
Least favorite?
No one’s. This was a stupid assignment.
Lauren’s ticking clock?
Well, time is running out for Lauren, but hey, she actually had her hair tied back and was a lot less unkempt this time at panel, so maybe all is not lost! Shandi certainly overcame some serious confidence issues, only to be undone by her libido in Milan, so hey, who knows? At least Lauren is aware of her problems and Tyra gave her the courtesy of a head’s up instead of a surprise attack at panel and then elimination.

I dont think so.. she is one of the prettiest in this cycle and she was my favorite, but not any more, she is just too weird for this kind of competition.
