America’s Next Top Model Audition Process
I went down to the America’s Next Top Model auditions today not to try out but to find out a little more about the audition process and to hopefully meet a future top model.
What I found out was that it’s VERY impersonal and disappointing for most girls. About a thousand girls were at the auditions today and they were all secluded in a back room of the Crowne Plaza Hotel while the friends and family that came with them waited in the lobby. Every once in a while a large group of women all shapes and sized would come rushing out. Most looking upset, tired and hungry, but a few with huge grins on their faces.
The ones who made it to the next round wouldn’t tell me much because they had to sign waivers telling them to not speak to press, but the girls who were cut let me take their pictures and ask them some questions. Most of the girls were upset that they felt they didn’t get a chance to actually audition. They just stood in a line with 50 other girls and each had about 5 seconds to state their name, height, weight and where they’re from. Then the producers called a few numbers and told everyone else to leave.
One girl who has a twin sister in San Francisco said she heard things were much different at their auditions.
“My twin said they actually sat at a table with a panel individually. Here it was so rushed!”
There was also some talk of invitation only auditions the day before. One girl guessed that maybe those women had sent in audition tapes.
The saddest part of the day was hearing stories from girls about driving from as far away as Memphis for the auditions only to get cut without so much as a hand shake.
My husband came down to the auditions and made fast friends with some boyfriends, some of whom had been waiting for over 4 hours to see their girlfriends. They were hilarious to talk to.
One very sweet woman I met was getting restless waiting for her daughter. We chatted for about an hour off and on. When her daughter finally did emerge it turned out she had advanced to the next round! I therefore couldn’t take her picture.

i think that its good that you girls tryed out i want to try out to but im to yung im 11 years old . im imspired by all the girls that try out because they have the guts to go interveiw and go throgh all the nastey and sometimes good comets . and hopefuly ill be ANTM AMRICAS NEXT TOP MODLE

I love this show. When I was younger, I auditioned for a modeling agency. Out of 300 girls that had been called back simply based on photos, they kept only 10! I was number 11! At the age of 12, I was told that I was too short, but I still had time to grow. (I was only 5′3″.) I got a call back letter 2 years ago, when I was 18, but I decided not to waste my time. (I am still 5′3″) I am kinda glad that I didn’t get too envolved in the modeling buisness, its a hard, and cruel world to be in.

Hi I always wanted to Become A famous Super model. And to me whats holding me back from that Dream is School, My parents keep telling me to go to school. I just want to live my Dream cause Tommorow is not promised. I need some good advice on how to keep my Dream Alive. Please Help me Cause God Know Am Trying.

I heard on realitytvspoiler.com that amber is going to have a guest appearance on America’s top model. Is there any truth in this? I remember hearing something on this site that Amber was signing up for ANTM. Do you think amber has a chance? I doubt she’ll get on she doesn’t seem like the model type to me. I haven’t watched the next top model before but From what i heard it’s not filmed life like BB so i guess Amber will appearing in the next season (cycle10?) in the spring. I think it would be hilarious if Amber would be in a model show.

As for applying, go to the ANTM website. You’ll have all the information you need.

Tyra when is ANTM coming to Los Angeles for auditions for next cycle, i would love to audition if it’s not to late. will you take a short model? i’ve always been told that i’m to short. others tell me i don’t look so short, because i know how to make my legs LOOK long. so please may i have a shot? i think i have what it takes tobe ANTM

I have what it takes to be America’s Next Top Model!! I am only 11 years old, but I have passion for modeling , acting , and watching your show. I am too youg of course but when I do get older i will be in cycle 16. i hope the show still plays. They should make a America’s Next Top Model-Kid Style. I havn’t model ever in my life. People say that i have waht it takes and I think I do too. I love Heather. Trya you are the best and I even have your picture as my background on my comp. It is the one of you in the candy shop. I love it. If my dream came very soon when I am still yong(to meet Trya Banks and the contestents, and model and act)I will be soooooooooooo happy. I want to be AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL!!!!!!

I would love to figure out how to audition to be on America’s Next Top Model. It is my all time dream to become a model. I am 5′9 and weigh 110 lbs. Please let me know. I am very interested. I have such a passion for modeling. Its something that comes natural to me. I would love the oppurtunity. Its my dream to meet Tyra Banks. She is my role model. I think it would be really cool to try out for ANTM even if you don’t get in, because its such a good experience and if you are a model you have to get used to rejection. I live in New Zealand so I can’t audition at all. Hopefully by the time i’m 18 (im 12 at the moment) they’ll have New Zealands Next Top Model! I would love to try out for ANTM because when I was four I was trying on clothes in a kids shop (Just Kids) and dancing in front of the mirror. My mum was like “well if you ever need any models” (as it was a really new shop at the time) The shop lady was “actually we do!” so I ended up modeling for that clothes store for 4 years. Then they decided to do their photo shoots in Australia and use australian kids. Tyra if you read this, I really want to be in ANTM but I dont have a chance please start up a New Zealands Next Top Model! By the way is there any chance at all that a New Zealander could enter ANTM.

I am definitly wanting to model. I watch ANTM all the time, I am confident and stong and I know that I would last a long time. I’m only 15 years old though (about 5′5 or 5′6, not too sure, and 117 pounds), but when I’m older I will try out and I will win, I was born to model. My mom is a little bit of a photographer, much less now than she used to be, but all my life I’ve been around the camera. I’ve been commented all my life that I should model because I’m “beautiful” I don’t know or care about that, just the whole vibe of modeling makes me so excited and nervous at the same time, I want to be up there so badly! But I’ve never done anything about it, never modeled and I was in 1 fashion show but it was kind of lame, just for a tiny store and only like 50 people (they were letting anybody interested be in it, so I didn’t feel special or anything). As soon as I’m 18, I will be America’s Next Top Model!!

you dont have to go to the casting call if you already sent your audition tape ans application in the mail. as for me… casting call in LA is on march 29th. im workin hard on my body so, i can be in the best shape possible. :) i know ill make it!!! If not this season then, ill keep trying out for the next seasons to come. Iam very competitive so, look out girls!! Ihope to compete with the best of the best cuz, i still have much to learn :D

My friend went in for Auditions in Rocky Mount, NC on the 19th of this month. I was a little shocked at how few ladies showed up for the auditions. She did great though, alot of girls were interested in her because she already looks like a model. But Im proud of her. The only thing thats different from your story is, they never really told anyone if the made it to the next round. Just that they’d give them a call. Shes the next Big thing though, she was Born for this. Look out for the contestant from Brooklyn New York.
