America’s Next Top Model Audition Process

I went down to the America’s Next Top Model auditions today not to try out but to find out a little more about the audition process and to hopefully meet a future top model.
What I found out was that it’s VERY impersonal and disappointing for most girls. About a thousand girls were at the auditions today and they were all secluded in a back room of the Crowne Plaza Hotel while the friends and family that came with them waited in the lobby. Every once in a while a large group of women all shapes and sized would come rushing out. Most looking upset, tired and hungry, but a few with huge grins on their faces.
The ones who made it to the next round wouldn’t tell me much because they had to sign waivers telling them to not speak to press, but the girls who were cut let me take their pictures and ask them some questions. Most of the girls were upset that they felt they didn’t get a chance to actually audition. They just stood in a line with 50 other girls and each had about 5 seconds to state their name, height, weight and where they’re from. Then the producers called a few numbers and told everyone else to leave.
One girl who has a twin sister in San Francisco said she heard things were much different at their auditions.
“My twin said they actually sat at a table with a panel individually. Here it was so rushed!”
There was also some talk of invitation only auditions the day before. One girl guessed that maybe those women had sent in audition tapes.
The saddest part of the day was hearing stories from girls about driving from as far away as Memphis for the auditions only to get cut without so much as a hand shake.
My husband came down to the auditions and made fast friends with some boyfriends, some of whom had been waiting for over 4 hours to see their girlfriends. They were hilarious to talk to.
One very sweet woman I met was getting restless waiting for her daughter. We chatted for about an hour off and on. When her daughter finally did emerge it turned out she had advanced to the next round! I therefore couldn’t take her picture.

Hi! My name is Kwuanitra, but friends know me as Ni-Ni pronounced ne-ne. I’ve been a very big fan of modeling and I’ve always wanted to be one. I have always heard that you had to be tall and a certain weight to be a model, but after so much hoping, praying, and doing my research I found out that 2009 is the year that Tyra is giving my kind a chance. Thank you so much for the opportunity for me to try and live my dreams I am 5′0 and 159Lbs. I have a pretty face and nice skin and hopefully I have the skills, talent, and to Tyra the potential to be America’s next top model, because to me I already all three qualities. Can’t wait to see what Tyra and the world thinks…
I tryed out for the Americans next top modle I did not make in but I called and hurd I was in the top 15. I also made all the judges laugh twice in my adition. I thought I hade it but no. I was number three but maybe next year I will make it

Hi my name is dewane. i am fully female and was not named after a guy. i am 4′11 1/2, i need that half when it comes to modeling….. i love modeling with the understanding that it a tough career to have. if ever i had the chance to be a short model i would do it at the drop of a dime. im told all the time that i am beautiful whether i believe so or not (which i never really did). people ask me all the time if i model or would be a model and the only respose i could ever come up with is “IM TOO SHORT”…. I know i am too short for runway but maybe theres another way my face could be seen…………..i promise when i put heels on (which is every day) my legs look extra long even though im only 4′11. i love my body i know i would make a great model because not all models are drop dead gorgeous…

SO I WENT TO THE AUDITION TODAY FOR 5′7 AND UNDER WOW IT WAS JUST CRAZY I WOKE UP AT 4:30 TO GET THERE A 5ISH..TO WAIT FOR LIKE 2 HOURS TO THEN HAVE LIKE 50 GIRLS IN ONE ROOM WHERE THEY SAID LITERRALY YOU NAME HIEGHT AND AGE..EX NICKY 21,5′6 WOW THEN THE MAIN PRODUCER CALLED 3 TO 4 NAME SOUT OF 50 GIRLS HOW IS THAT AN AUDITIION NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SO YEAH THAT SUCKED..BUT I SENT A A VIDEO IN SO WE SHALL SE WHAT WILL HAPPEN DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW THE VIDEO THING WORKS

Hey I am in Omaha NE and I guess the auditions were different here because there were not as many girls. I was upset at my audition because I could tell the one main guy that was directing everything was picking who he liked before they even went up. We had to go up hold up an envelope and say our name and number and where we were from. Then we had to walk a runway. I pray to God that I make it on. I dont know when we are supposed to find out if we made it or not???????????? there was a girl there that came all the way from texas and they were making a big deal out of it because she said it took her 3 hours to get there big deal is what I was thinking because I live in Omaha and it took me 4 hours to get there. I was running all over Omaha in Heals and a dress trying to make sure that I caught all 3 busses it took to get there. She sat on an air conditioned plane get over it. Ow and if you can afford a plane ticket here why wouldnt you just buy one to cali where you can make it big. IDk She was pretty though but to me her flying here from texas was stupid. Man when do we find out though??????? they told everyone they would let us know and good luck man I need it I hope my prayers go through!!!
